Chapter 792. Lonely Girl II
The Incubus System Chapter 792. Lonely Girl II
My concern for her grew. "How long have you been out here?" I asked, my voice laced with worry.
"Since this morning," she replied weakly.
My shock was evident. I processed her response. "You've been out here since morning?" I questioned, incredulous.
Her weak nod only confirmed my shock.
"Yeah, it's been a while," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
"You haven't eaten anything since then?" I questioned, my tone laced with worry.
She gestured towards the almost empty water bottle and a small, empty milk box in the corner.
"I managed to bring some water and milk," she said.
Realizing that I couldn't just stand by and do nothing, I made up my mind to help her.
"Look, I'm going to do something about this. Just stay put, alright?" I assured her.
However, as I attempted to leave, her grip on my hand tightened. I turned to meet her gaze. "Where are you going?" she asked, her voice laced with anxiety.
I gave her a warm smile.
"I just need to talk to your mom for a bit. I promise I'll be back soon," I reassured her.
Her grip reluctantly loosened, and I got to my feet, making my way to the door.
I reached for the doorknob, but it was locked from the inside. I let out a small sigh.
With a swift thought, I activated my Teleportation skill, and in an instant, I was inside the room.
My original form stood amidst the emptiness. The room was not only dimly lit but devoid of any furniture, as if it had been abandoned.
"What in the world..." I muttered under my breath, my confusion deepening.
I couldn't believe my eyes and checked the other rooms in the apartment. Each bedroom, even the bathroom, was empty.
No furniture, food, or clothing.
"This is beyond messed up," I whispered to myself.
Could it be that Jill's mother had left her here to starve?
I had initially suspected her mom's involvement in some shady dealings, likely with a wealthy and influential figure. But this... this was a new low.
Running a hand through my hair, I exhaled deeply.
I had hoped for something less sinister, but life had thrown a cruel curveball.
"Alright, first things first," I muttered. "I need to get her out of this situation and make sure she's taken care of."
I made up my mind.
My immediate priority was to attend to Jill's needs. Afterward, I would have to take steps to help her find her father, if he was still alive.
If not, I would ensure she received the necessary care from social services or a suitable guardian.
As for her mother and this 'Mr. William' character, they wouldn't escape unscathed. There would be consequences for their heartless actions.
No, I wasn't trying to be a hero. But their actions reminded me of my mom's and worse. So I would do what I should do.
I quickly reached out through our telepathic connection to inform my pets.
'Guys, I'll be away for a bit. Keep watch and let me know if anything goes down, alright?' I relayed to them.
'Got it!' Red's voice echoed in my mind.
Returning to Jill's side, I turned myself into a little boy.
"Hey, so here's the scoop. Your mom and Mr. William are on a little outing and won't be back for a while. How about we grab a bite to eat together?" I suggested.
Her eyes widened with hope. "You have food?"
I grinned. "Absolutely. We had spaghetti for dinner earlier, and there's plenty left. Sounds good?"
Her response was a soft, heartfelt whisper. "Yes, I'd love some spaghetti."
"Perfect," I said, extending my hand to her. "Come with me."
I guided her hand. We stepped into a portal, instantly transporting us to my house. But the sight that greeted us was not what I had expected.
Celia, Alan and Mrs. Clea were there. Clearly, my sudden appearance with a young girl in tow had caught them off guard.
I offered a sheepish grin.
"Hey, surprise guest. This is Jill. Jill, meet Celia, Alan and Mrs. Clea," I announced.
With that, I was sure they knew the boy was me.
"A friend?" Alan asked with a happy smile.
Celia arched an eyebrow.
"Alright, spill the beans. What's going on?" she asked me.
"Long story short, Jill was in a pretty rough spot, and I brought her here to make sure she's okay," I explained, my tone earnest. "We still have spaghetti, right? She wants some."
Mrs. Clea's eyes softened. "Of course, dear. You're more than welcome here."
I gave Jill's hand a reassuring squeeze. "See? You're in good company now. Let's have some dinner, okay?"
