The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Chapter 249: The Battle with Rovert (2)

Above the skies outside Gardian City, Malverna floated, her gaze fixed downward with a serious expression.

This is really strange. Why can't I sense Nolan's presence? She muttered silently.

Gardian City now looked gloomy and dark. An uneasy aura spread throughout the streets.

Malverna also sensed a strong, hidden magic circle covering the city, like a watchdog monitoring anyone coming or going.

Fortunately, her strength had recovered about seventy to eighty percent, allowing her to resist the circle's influence.

"Malverna, do you hear me?"

Suddenly, Nolan's voice echoed in her mind. Surprise flickered across her face briefly, but she quickly composed herself.

"Nolan, where are you? Why can't I sense your presence?" Malverna asked, confused.

She and Nolan were linked by a master-and-slave contract, which normally allowed them to sense each other clearly. But now, she felt nothing—a highly unusual situation.

"I was engaged in battle with Rovert. That man turned out to be a Celestial Mage and has sealed the entire mansion within his domain. For now, the outside world and my location are completely cut off," Nolan explained calmly.

"Celestial Mage?" Malverna froze. "How is that possible? Why didn't I notice it before?"

With her ability, she could sense someone's power. Yet back then, Rovert had shown no trace of anything extraordinary.

"He hid it very well. Probably using a special tool or artifact of incredible power. Either way, the important thing now is that I need your help."

Malverna took a deep breath, her expression serious. "Of course. Tell me what you need."

"Go to Duke Austin's mansion and deliver the evidence I collected from the Castellan family mansion. Then, proceed to the capital and meet Shion at the Blue Moon Trading House headquarters. Give her the same evidence and tell her it's time to strike the Red Obsidian Trading House."

"Do not let Belfor escape or do anything foolish. Make sure he and his trading house are utterly destroyed."

His voice was cold and sharp as a blade, sending shivers down Malverna's spine.

She didn't argue, only nodded slowly. "Very well, Nolan. I'll handle this attack."

"Good!" His voice carried satisfaction. "I'll send it to you."

Whoosh!

A vortex suddenly appeared before her. From it shot a streak of black light, which Malverna immediately touched.

The light dimmed gradually, revealing a stack of neatly arranged documents.

"Alright, that's done. Now… I want to have some fun with Rovert first. Killing him would be too quick—he needs to be tortured first, hehehe..."

Nolan's laughter was eerie, and Malverna's lips tightened slightly at the sound.

Rovert is really unfortunate. I'm sure he'll regret committing all those crimes, she murmured with a soft chuckle.

Only she knew how terrifying Nolan was. Given a choice, Malverna was sure Rovert would rather surrender to the palace than face Nolan.

Unfortunately, the damn man did not realize the danger he was in. However, he deserved it. The atrocities he committed were incredible.

Even Malverna, the Demon Empress, was not that cruel. At least, she would not perform such disgusting acts of experimentation on intelligent beings—human, demon, or even dragon.

Shaking her head, she stared at the pile of documents in her hands before finally disappearing from sight.

...

Boom!

Dozens of fireballs descended from the sky, hitting hundreds of monsters on the grounds of the Castellan family mansion. Their bodies shattered into dust, but the next second, they came back to life.

With ferocious expressions, they charged towards Nolan again.

"Hahaha! In vain, Nolan Lorian!" Rovert burst out laughing. "There's no point! Ever since you tried to fight me, it was the end for you! Kyahaha!"

His shrill laughter sounded incredibly terrifying. However, Nolan remained calm and relaxed, as if unaffected.

He continued to dodge the monsters' attacks with ease.

Bang!

His right hand clenched, striking one of the towering two-meter-tall tiger monsters.

The monster exploded into pieces of flesh, only to quickly reassemble and charge at him again.

Their regenerative ability was terrifying—almost endless.

"Keep it up, Nolan Lorian. Let's see who gives up first—me or you. Though it's impossible for me to give up. After all, you're the one at a disadvantage. Hehehe…" Rovert grinned faintly, sitting cross-legged in the air.

His gaze was filled with mockery and a hint of playful mischief. Yet beneath his demeanor, he was genuinely surprised by Nolan's abilities.

The monsters could keep rising, but Nolan never wavered or showed the slightest sign of fatigue. If it had been another Celestial Mage, they would have been overwhelmed.

After all, these monsters were exceptionally strong.

One of them had strength equal to a Sage Mage. With hundreds of them, it was like facing hundreds of sage-level mages at once.

Nolan's stamina and resilience only made Rovert more eager to claim him personally.

The mere thought of toying with him sent shivers down Rovert's spine, a twisted thrill coursing through him.

While Rovert indulged in his own dark pleasure, Nolan continued battling the monsters.

These monsters are really troublesome, Nolan muttered, dodging to the right and kicking one aside.

With his power, he could have wiped them all out instantly.

The power of space allowed him to manipulate particles and atoms—erasing their very existence would have been effortless.

However, that was not what he wanted. Defeating Rovert with sheer power would be boring.

He wanted to make him feel joy first, then plunge him into fear and despair—letting him realize that the advantage he thought he had was nothing but an illusion.

Quickly, he activated his Eyes of Chaos. In the next instant, he saw what had been invisible before—red threads connecting the monsters.

There were hundreds of them, all converging on a single person—Rovert.

"I see," he muttered softly, a faint smile playing on his lips.

Now he finally understood why the monsters could revive no matter how brutally he destroyed them.

Those threads were the control lines Rovert used to channel his mana into the monsters, enabling their resurrection with ease.

Of course, the cost was significant. Rovert must have expended a large amount of mana. Yet from his casual demeanor, two possibilities emerged: either his mana was still incredibly abundant, or he was deliberately hiding it to avoid detection.

"In that case…" Nolan's grin widened faintly. "I just need to make him run out of mana."

With that thought, he lunged fearlessly toward the monsters.

Watching him, Rovert chuckled and shook his head.

"What a fool. Is he already in a desperate situation? If so, that's perfect. Hehehe…"
