Chapter 22: Chapter 22 Let the egg hen escape!
"Sangsang, are you going out?"
A room door swung open. A young man in a short robe, holding a book in his hand, asked as he emerged from inside.
"Yeah, I'm going out. Grandma said that Uncle Jin is purchasing pigweed for two cents a basket. I thought I could also cut some. Brother Changfeng, when did you come back last night? I didn't hear you."
Lin Caisang turned back and looked at Lin Changfeng.
She really didn't hear when Lin Changfeng came back, because right after dinner, she closed the door to rest and went inside her space to study the soil.
However, no matter how much she studied, she just couldn't figure it out.
"I came back a bit late last night."
Lin Changfeng responded. His big eyes scanned Lin Caisang from top to bottom, noticing a faint bruise on her face, and he frowned.
"You haven't recovered from your injuries. How can you go and cut pigweed? Let He'er and Qing'er do it. These two girls are always messing around, they should grow up and help with housework."
Lin Caisang: "..."
Are you serious, cousin?
Lin Caihe and Lin Caiqing are obviously younger than her. Is it okay for you to say this? But she couldn't find any words to refute, because this cousin, like her own brother, doted on her.
"Actually, I'm not really going to cut pigweed. I've been restlessly lying in bed all day and wanted to get out for a walk. He'er and Qing'er are out with grandma and Third Aunt, they must be cutting much more than me."
Once Lin Changfeng heard Lin Caisang was going outside to 'play', he nodded in agreement.
"Then you go."
"Okay, Brother Changfeng, keep an eye on Grandpa, I'm off." Lin Caisang nodded, said her part, then turned around and left.
...
Inside the mountain, a few scattered plants grew amongst fall leaves.
Looking up, there were bare tree trunks that had yet to sprout buds. Of course, not all the trees were bare, Lin Caisang raised an eyebrow.
Looking down at the ground, she could still see traces of herbs previously grown. In her previous life, she was from a family of herbalists and the helmswoman of the family. She could tell what kind of herbal scent was in a place just by smelling it.
Just like this place...
"The scent of gastrodia."
It wasn't very strong, but she could definitely smell it.
She squatted down, took out a small hoe from her bead space, and sighed quietly.
It wasn't easy for her. To prevent the wooden handle of the hoe from rotting due to soil, she specially brought a stone into her bead space and placed her necessary items on top of the stone.
Who else could compete with that?
While using the hoe to clear away old leaves, she carefully moved and looked ahead.
Interestingly, where she dug, she found gastrodia. Not only that, they were huge and she threw them all into the bamboo basket behind her.
After a while...
Lin Caisang sat on a fallen tree trunk, panting for breath and clutching her plump waist.
This was the reality of being overweight, she quickly tired out from minor activities. It felt like she had been run over by a large truck. She glanced at the bamboo basket she had placed aside.
Inside were a dozen or so large gastrodia, and those small ones were also collected in the basket. Near the gastrodia lay a few red sages. Although not many, they were much more valuable than the gastrodia.
There were also a dozen wild eggs, an unexpected harvest! Unfortunately, she was too heavy-handed and scared the hen away!
