Chapter 19 Don't Panic when Trouble Arises, Start by Passing the Buck
Jiang Nanshu gave a light smile in response to the teenager's equally angry gaze.
The smile made the red tear mole under her left eye even more vivid, adding brightness to her appearance.
She pointed directly at Jiang Leyi and spoke softly to the teenager, "I'm not looking for you, I'm looking for her."
It was okay if Jiang Nanshu didn't speak, but once she did, she made the teenager cry.
As if Jiang Nanshu was an unforgivable villain.
But she wasn't in the mood to comfort kids, even if this was her adopted brother Ji Ze, who grew up with her for eleven years.
This year he was fifteen, attending Mingde Middle School, currently in tenth grade.
Jiang Leyi frowned tightly and sneered, "Every time you come, it's not good. What now? Do you want to spread rumors like when Xiaoze was in middle school that your adoptive parents treated you badly and abused you? Do you know how much psychological harm the classmates' isolation caused Xiaoze? Even if you want to break away from your past self, how can you hurt a child like this without feeling guilty?"
Ji Ze's eyes were already red with tears.
He stared at Jiang Nanshu, as if trying to see through her glamorous exterior to find his former sister.
"I don't have beautiful qualities like a conscience, you think too highly of me."
Jiang Leyi paused for a moment, realizing it was Jiang Nanshu's inner voice. She was just about to get angry when she saw Jiang Nanshu grab a handful of sugar-roasted chestnuts and put them in his hand, acting fiercely, "I hate kids crying the most, don't cry, or I'll hit you until you shut up."
Ji Ze was scared by Jiang Nanshu's fierce demeanor, staring dumbly at her delicate hands opening his palm and solemnly placing the sugar-roasted chestnuts in his hand.
"Please don't cry, I surrender, I can't comfort you. I've given you my favorite sugar-roasted chestnuts; can't it make you feel better?"
The next moment, Ji Ze angrily threw all the sugar-roasted chestnuts on the ground, shouting with red eyes, "I don't want your stuff! It's disgusting."
Jiang Nanshu blinked without any sadness, trying to argue, "The stuff is clean and edible. I ate a lot when I came."
Ji Ze, like a naughty child who did something wrong, quickly ran away.
"Hey! You can be angry, but why throw my chestnuts! If I had known, I wouldn't have tried to comfort you."
Jiang Nanshu was fuming, but she maintained her troublesome persona naturally, "Hmph, bad kid, Jiang Leyi, did you teach him deliberately? I've only been gone for three years, and he turned into this. It must be your instigation!"
"When faced with trouble, don't panic, shift the blame first."
Jiang Leyi: "..."
What to do, suddenly I can't hate her.
Clearly the same person, but the lively Jiang Nanshu was obviously more interesting.
"If it wasn't for you, would he be like this?" She crossed her arms and snorted coldly, then changed the subject, "Why are you here looking for me? I've got ten minutes before I play a scene with the lead actress, so you better speak quickly."
"Ha, with your lousy acting, you should quit, even a passing dog acts better than you." Jiang Nanshu was diligently courting disaster.
Just as Jiang Leyi was about to curse back, Jiang Nanshu's inner voice arrived:
"Actually, your acting is way better than Su Ran's. She acts like a zombie; even a dog passing by would kick twice at that kind, but I won't praise you to your face."
This critique combined with Jiang Nanshu's high and cold face, with an "I'm the coolest sister" expression, successfully made Jiang Leyi laugh.
Jiang Nanshu: ???
"How can you laugh when you're being criticized? Did you think of something happy? Like meeting a scumbag who manipulates you again? Hmm, seems like someone in your crew..."
Jiang Leyi's smile suddenly froze.
Suddenly remembered Jiang Nanshu's initial inner voice, she might have her kidney removed and her cornea donated.
It was truly terrible.
Her eyelids twitched fiercely, frowning, "You came just to mock my acting?"
"Of course not." Jiang Nanshu smirked, "I have a question for you, do you have a limited edition LV crocodile skin bag from the spring-autumn collection?"
Jiang Leyi thought for a moment, having some impression, so she nodded, "Yes, what's up? Do you want it?"
Jiang Nanshu gave a cold smile, maintaining her performance, "Ha, I wouldn't want your worthless stuff even if you gave it to me."
"Waa waa waa, sister, I want it, I want it, I'm a penniless poor thing, give it all to me, let luxurious goods rain upon me. I hope you can see my fragile heart through my strong exterior."
Jiang Leyi: "..."
She rubbed her brows, "Get to the point."
"Did you give the bag to someone?"
"You're investigating me?" Jiang Leyi frowned, "How do you know I gave the bag to someone?"
Jiang Nanshu's eyes were icy, "You think you did it secretly?"
"The intention to harm me is so obvious, bribing Chen Qian to ruin my reputation."
Jiang Leyi's pupils were shocked, her intuition told her if she didn't explain clearly, she might be doomed, the kind that can't placate Jiang Nanshu even with a carload of luxury goods.
Cold sweat broke out as she hurriedly said, "I gave the bag to Chu Muxi."
"Chu Muxi?"
Jiang Leyi nodded, "Yes, she's my childhood friend. I went abroad to visit her, she saw me carrying it and said she liked it, so I gave it to her."
Jiang Nanshu recalled this person, a very gentle and quiet girl who loved to smile, always speaking softly to everyone, well-loved in their elite circle, completely opposite to Jiang Nanshu.
However, she wasn't in good health, born with congenital asthma, nearly always spent her life with herbal medicine.
"Where is she now?"
Jiang Leyi hesitated before speaking slowly, "Abroad. She graduated the same year as Lu Qingyan, went abroad for further studies right after high school graduation, hasn't returned for nearly three years."
The clue abruptly broke off here with Jiang Leyi.
Originally, she thought it might be this fake sister, but unexpectedly this bag didn't pass from her to Chen Qian.
The involved person Chu Muxi wasn't around either, not sure when she'd return to the country.
Or perhaps, the person behind Chen Qian wasn't Jiang Leyi or Chu Muxi, but someone else entirely?
Jiang Nanshu's head hurt from thinking too much; her patience was running out. Forget it, she would just directly ask Chen Qian later.
"Alright, I'm not very interested in your matters, I'm leaving." Jiang Nanshu finished speaking, looking painfully at the chestnuts on the ground.
"Ah, so tempting to pick them up!"
Jiang Leyi: "..."
So she blankly squatted to help her pick them up, "Take your leftover trash away, don't pollute the campus environment."
"Ha." Jiang Nanshu laughed coldly, "Who's taking stuff from the ground? What, you're mad because I threw them on the ground? Believe it or not, I'll come tomorrow to throw another handful."
Jiang Leyi saw her speaking harshly, but her hand with the chestnut bag was honestly open.
Afraid she might secretly pick them up and eat them when not being watched.
"Give them all back to you..."
Jiang Nanshu gathered the bag tightly.
"Hee hee, I'll just give them all to Lu Qingyan, save some money."
