Chapter 24
Episode 24: The Marquis Wields the Blade of Revenge (Part 2)
“Leon, you came!!”
“Leon, tell Giorg to get us out of here!!”
Seeing Leon, Gazel and Almada clung to the iron bars, their faces filled with desperation.
“Calm down, both of you.”
“Calm down!? We’ve been here for three days already!!”
“That’s right!! That hateful woman’s son threw us in here!! I can’t forgive him!!”
“Both of you, listen to me!!”
Leon’s loud voice silenced them.
“Do you two understand the situation? Giorg has already completed the legal procedures for your execution. It’s said he even has the King’s approval.”
“Wha…”
“No way!! What is my brother doing!?”
“Your family’s viscountcy has been replaced.”
“Replaced…?”
The information from Leon made their throats tighten. Both had fainted during the sentencing and woke up in the dungeon, completely unaware of what was happening outside. After days of anxiety with no information, they were suddenly told to leave, only to be transported to the prison in Regnos.
“Ah, but Giorg seems hesitant about your execution.”
“What?”
“I think he’s reluctant to execute his own father.”
“Hoh… So that’s how it is.”
Gazel smirked at the unexpected news.
“Yes, if you show some remorse here, Giorg might spare your lives.”
“Wait a minute. What about me?”
Almada chimed in nervously. Unlike Gazel, she had no blood ties to Giorg, making her anxious. She couldn’t bear the thought of being executed alone.
“Don’t worry. You’ll be spared too.”
“H-How can you be so sure?”
“Giorg said he might reconsider the punishment depending on your attitudes.”
“Really?”
“Yes, he did say that.”
Leon’s words made them smirk at each other. Even in this situation, they still underestimated Giorg.
“For now, both of you, behave humbly. If you do, I’ll negotiate with Giorg for a reduced sentence.”
“Got it.”
“Bowing to that woman’s son is annoying, but I guess we have no choice.”
Leon’s plea made them sneer with contempt.
“I’ll tell them you’ve realized your crimes and are remorseful. So, act humble around the servants too.”
“Understood. We’re counting on you.”
“Alright. Leon, I’ll do as you say.”
“Good. Just endure a little longer. If the sentence is reduced, we’ll cut ties with the House of Zarfing and start over.”
With that, Leon left the cell, leaving the two behind.
“Hehehe… Giorg, no matter how cold he acts, he’s still just a kid.”
“Yes, we’ll take over the House of Zarfing again. This time, we won’t mess up.”
The two exchanged ugly, sneering grins.

“Excuse me.”
As I was enjoying the aroma of tea in my office, Leon entered.
“How were they?”
I asked Leon while savoring the tea. Honestly, I didn’t want this precious moment interrupted by someone like Leon, but I decided to entertain him since I needed to teach this pitiful fool dancing in the palm of my hand.
“Yes. When I told them to reflect on their crimes, they seemed remorseful for their actions.”
“I see… So they regret killing my mother.”
“Yes. Lord Giorg… is that acceptable?”
“What is it?”
Leon’s tone, as if he cared about me, was unbearably irritating. Well, it wouldn’t be long before his smug expression turned to despair, so I decided to hold back.
“Yes. Perhaps, for the sake of your vassals, you must condemn your father and mother, no?”
“What?”
“Lord Giorg, do you truly not wish to execute them?”
I put on a confused expression. His thought process was too naive. I had planned to handle him with patience, but his disgusting reasoning evaporated my tolerance in an instant.
“Revenge will bring you nothing!! It will only leave you empty, Lord Giorg!!”
“Leon… Don’t say another word.”
“No, I won’t be silent!! Lord Giorg, revenge will do you no good!!”
Ignoring my words, Leon continued. It seemed he thought he could sway me and pressed on.
Disgusting. Time to shut him up.
I decided and struck Leon’s face with a backhand.
CRACK!!
As the sound of impact echoed, Leon’s head snapped back. In the next moment, I grabbed his collar, slammed him down, and smashed his face into the desk.
THUD!!
“Leon, I told you to be silent. What are you getting so cocky about?”
“Huh…?”
Leon, his face twisted in pain, let out a confused groan as the delayed agony hit him.
