Chapter 478 - Jiro
"Hello, Mr. Blind Monk… or is it Jiro?"
Blind Monk or rather, Jiro's face hardened at the exposure of his name.
He already had speculations of this happening, the client knowing of him, yet it still came as a hard pill to swallow as he now remained, kneeling on the ground.
Jiro's eyes looked sharply at the tall person who seemed like someone that could kill Bone Man easily with his bare fists.
Then it subtly went to the mysterious woman beside him. Jiro was somewhat certain that even though the woman looked harmlessly, she rarely could be.
"Don't need to think so much. Get up and sit."
…
I signal Jiro, "Make yourself comfortable."
Jiro looked at me with great caution as he slowly got up. In his hands, the Katana's lay tight, a form of security as he sat right in front of me.
He stayed quiet as I spoke, "I know how bad this situation seems for you, but don't think much of it. I'm not going to harm you or keep you grounded."
"If you want ask something, freely ask." I say lifting a glass filled with strong whiskey, "Before that, tell me, how were the swords?"
"…They were perfect. As if they fit just right." After some thought, Jiro spoke.
I sip with a grin, 'Of course they would.'
"Can I ask you something?"
"Yeah"
"How did you find out about me?"
I sigh, "I suppose that would be the general question for you." I laugh while glancing at Alice, "People seldom forget that questions like 'Why Me?' and 'What do you want from me?' exists."
Jiro frowned.
"Since you ask, it's pretty easy to find someone's identity. When you are rich and have link, all you have to do is be patient. In your case, your still too green at hiding yourself." I mutter, "Anything else?"
"If you want to sponsor me about fights, I don't do that." Jiro shook his head.
I laugh and deny, "Oh no no, I don't want to sponsor you. There are far better fighters for that."
Jiro coughed, almost hiding his embarrassment, "What do you want from me?"
"I want you to work for me."
"Work?" Jiro looked confused before shaking his head, "I don't kill people for money."
"Who said it was that kind of work."
"It isn't?"
"Well…"
Jiro's frown hardened as he said, "As I said, I won't kill anyone."
"Of course you won't. You're too green for that." Jiro greeted his teeth, "But I see talent in you. Currently, you're a fighter who only knows how to punch and kick, but if you come to me, I can make you something out of you which in turn would benefit us both."
"What do you want from me exactly?"
"As I said, I want you to work for me. The specifics of the work are not necessary; all you should know is that I pay well."
"Still no." Jiro stood up, "I won't do anything I don't know the details of. Especially when you make it sound so shady."
"Wait, it came out shady?" I turn to Alice, "Did it?"
Alice nodded slowly, "Yeah, you weren't really convincing with your words."
"Well… not everyone can be a politician now." I turn to Jiro, "Though I am honest."
It was a good thing Alice's face was covered because she had quite the look to show Henry.
"I'm sorry for disappointing you, but no-"
"Don't be so hasty."
Jiro frowned, "You said this was safe, but I suppose you won't let me leave huh?"
I was quiet for a moment, 'I should have let Raven come here, he would have made a better-... no it wouldn't have made a difference.'
I look up at Jiro and smile, "Since your adamant on denying, I'll let you leave. But don't turn off my offer like that, if it's not money then I can arrange something else that's satisfactory for you."
I throw a small card which Jiro catches it perfectly, "Think about it, I'm sure we can work something out."
With that, Jiro walked out of the place as I quietly sat with my thoughts.
"That went well." Alice said with a smile, "You could have been more assertive."
"Pressured him until he didn't have any choice but to submit to your power." Alice said with a clear tone.
"Is that how you see me? A Power Hungry Dictator?"
Alice's answer came with her hand roaming around, showing me our current location.
I laugh, "Fear can only take you so far before it comes crumbling down, whereas Planning would take time but it will create a solid foundation."
"Enough with the talk, the fact is he could have been a good boy by now if you acted strongly."
"That's a possibility… but I wanted to place a good profile in people who'd be by my side for a long time."
"But… isn't Jacob… I've heard that your first greeting wasn't pleasant."
"…That was an unavoidable casualty but look at us now."
"Working under yet somehow worthless."
I get up and rub my expensive suit, "Remember our next assignment?"
Alice got up and gave a seductive smile as she snapped her fingers.
With that, a purple mist suddenly appeared and enveloped her figure.
The mist quickly disappeared into nothing as Alice's appearance changed completely.
Now she wore a beautiful yellow Burgundian gown with a wide V-styled neckline and a large crystal blue jewelry around her neck and ears. Her hands were covered by sleek white gloves and finally, Blue shoes with small pearls.
All in all, Alice seemed like a rich hot woman that was either a rich noble's wife or a very expensive side-chick.
Alice smiled widely and encased my hand in hers, "Of course, Honey."
I look Alice up and down before asking, "You remember the address?"
"Yes"
"You sure you practiced the spell and checked everything?"
"Yes, yes! Now do you want to keep complaining or are we finally going to act as Husband and Wife?"
"It's Rich Guy and Hot Lady."
"I'm just speeding up the process."
I smile and shake my head in defeat, "Do it."
Alice's eyes turned blue as a circular spell line showed in them. The atmosphere around us stiffened and a circular drawing like her eyes appeared beneath us. In moments with a burst of energy, we were gone.
The same blue drawing appeared in front of a store as both me and Alice suddenly appeared on it.
Alice's face turned into a smug smile, "Worked, didn't it!"
I nod as I look at the building's name in front of us.
Lamar Telephone Company
…
After leaving the underground fight club, Jiro simply ran until he was sure he had escaped from the vicinity of the club.
He stood in a dark alley as his breath ran short. His hand unconsciously went for the thing in his pocket.
Jiro touched the card which had writings in bold letters. He could guess what it wrote.
He knew people like this with their cryptic words would backstab almost every time and he should just throw out the card and forget about it.
But his thought went to his left hand which held The Twin Katana's.
They didn't stop or call him as he took the swords.
Maybe they thought it would entice him or they just didn't care. But the swords made him think about the guy and that made him think about the offer.
After a while, he finally grew a seed of thought, 'What if they can help her…'
