The God of Ice and Fire at Hogwarts

Chapter 164: Irina is my mother

The habitat of the winged demon is not far from the area where the venomous leopard resides, and it is also a setting with dense trees.

When the three entered the forest, Irina saw a spiky egg sack, the size of an ostrich egg, hanging upside down from a branch not too far away.

This special egg sack had a colorful appearance and stood out against the green leaves surrounding it.

Newt waved his hand toward the egg sack, and immediately, the sack enlarged and transformed into a bat-like creature with skeletal blue-green wings.

Obviously, this magical creature was the winged demon that lives there.

The winged demon flew into Newt's outstretched arms, with brilliant colors displayed vividly on its wings and body, strangely beautiful. Its playful figure danced in the air before landing on Newt's arm.

"This is the winged demon, a magical creature classified as dangerous by the Ministry of Magic with a danger rating of XXXXX. Its venom, when diluted to a certain extent, can erase some bad memories," Newt explained, lifting his arm with the winged demon perched on it and introducing it to Irina.

Irina tentatively touched the winged demon's wings with her fingers. However, while the winged demon didn't reject Irina's touch, it wasn't as enthusiastic about her as it was with Newt. It stayed perched on Newt's arm.

Noticing Irina's somewhat confused expression, Newt explained: "Like many birds, a creature will recognize the first being it sees after birth as its mother. And when it was born, I was the first thing it saw."

Irina suddenly understood and said, "So it considers you its mother! No wonder it's so attached to you!"

Newt continued, "Although the winged demon is not a bird in the strictest sense, its habits are similar to those of many birds, but not exactly the same. To use a bird analogy, generally, late-growing birds will recognize the first creature they see as their mother, but this one is more like an early-growing bird. It adapted to its environment as soon as it was born and could find food on its own!"

Newt explained the various habits of the winged demon in more detail than what was recorded in his textbook "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

It was clear that Newt was fond of Irina, a lively and cheerful witch who loved magical creatures just as much as he did.

At that moment, the winged demon suddenly let go of Newt's arm, flew back to the branch where it had been earlier, and called out to Newt several times.

"Well, what are you saying..." Newt was momentarily stunned, then his eyes lit up with excitement as he looked at the branch beneath the winged demon.

I saw that next to the egg sack where the winged demon had transformed earlier, there was a smaller egg sack the size of a regular egg, hanging upside down from a branch.

Newt enthusiastically pointed to the egg sack and said excitedly, "Did you see that, Irina, Rubeus? That's a winged demon egg sack, and if I'm right, we'll be very lucky to witness the birth of a new life today!"

Hearing Newt's words, Irina and Hagrid showed happy expressions.

Unexpectedly, during this visit to Newt's little world inside the suitcase, they had encountered an unexpected surprise! Witnessing the birth of a new little life or the birth of an extremely rare magical creature like the winged demon was certainly worth waiting for!

The last time something so wonderful happened was when Irina and Hagrid witnessed the birth of Charmander!

At Newt's signal, Irina and Hagrid moved closer.

However, as Hagrid also approached, the large winged demon let out a threatening cry. It seemed unwilling to allow Hagrid, a large and very intimidating man, to approach its unborn offspring.

Helpless, Hagrid had no choice but to stay about ten meters away, standing on tiptoe and anxiously peering toward the branches.

In the end, only Newt, who had been recognized as the mother by the large winged demon, and Irina, who had a strong affinity with magical creatures, were able to approach the small egg sack and wait for the hatching of the little winged demon.

Time passed gradually, and soon it was around six or seven in the evening, which was dinnertime.

Just as Newt was wondering whether to take Irina and Hagrid to dinner at the villa, the small egg sack finally showed some movement.

I saw the small egg sack gradually opening, and a pair of wings, equally beautiful and sparkling with a starry purple hue, unfolded from inside. When fully expanded, they seemed to be the size of two adult hands.

In the middle of the pair of wings, the body of a winged demon, about the size of a rat with flower-like branches, appeared. This winged demon looked very young, and its eyes seemed to be covered with mucus from the egg sack, making it difficult to open them at first.

Seeing this, the large winged demon flew over and gently cleaned the mucus from the little one's eyes before flying back to Newt's shoulder.

Irina carefully observed the cute, small winged demon. The little demon seemed to be awake and tried to open its eyes, looking pitiful.

After a while, the little winged demon finally opened its eyes fully, and its beautiful irises moved. First, it stared at Irina's lovely face and her ice-blue eyes for a moment, then looked toward Newt standing next to her and the large winged demon on his shoulder.

Seeing that her child had finally opened its eyes, the large winged demon happily cried out and flew to carry the little demon away.

However, the little winged demon kept struggling when the large demon tried to hold it with its wings.

After breaking free from the large winged demon's wings, the little demon suddenly cried out loudly and then flew to Irina's head, rubbing affectionately against her.

Seeing this scene, the large winged demon seemed to be very hurt and cried out sorrowfully.

"The little winged demon... does it think of you as its mother?!" Newt said unexpectedly, a bit upset.

He finally realized that the first thing the little winged demon had seen when it opened its eyes wasn't the large winged demon, but Irina, who had approached it. In other words, the little winged demon had recognized Irina as its mother!

But Irina was just a small witch, about to enter her third year at Hogwarts, and she wasn't fit to raise such a dangerous magical creature like the winged demon, with a danger rating of XXXXX!

Newt looked embarrassed at the little winged demon perched on Irina's head.

The little demon kept crying out as if shouting: "Irina is my mother!"
