Chapter 35: 35-Aksel’s part
The drive to the pack was somber.
Sirius didn't know that his fated mate could break his heart so quickly all in one day. It made him mad at himself for getting her pregnant. It made him wonder how long he had been with her before mating with her and if they had ever had a chance to be together.
Tears came and he didn't stop them. Saoirse drove the car quietly and kept glancing at him forlorn as he leaned away from her on the window and watched the rain coming down from the sky, the air all cold and the clouds all grey like his heart.
There was no point in comforting him. Saoirse had long accepted her fate to never see her kids. That was the reason for her dis attachment to them. She would die giving birth to them and there was nothing she could do about it.
But it made her happy to know that Sirius would love them as she once had before this revelation was made to her over a year ago.
Aksel treated her like a means to an end because of it. Because his beast told him that she was just a liability, that he would have become a parent without a wife to help, and for this reason he only wanted to mate with her and use her power to get success for himself, and he never felt ready for her to give birth until he accomplished those two things.
She never would mate with him nor feel ready herself, but she accepted her fate to get him power until she heard of Sirius.
"Sirius, you give me hope for the future." She said after a while.
He looked up at her a bit confused, "how can I when there isn't a future to hope for." He said sadly.
"My babies will be loved." She said, "and that makes me happy. Its all going to be worth it. I am not going anywhere right now and I can keep waiting. The babies are dormant. I've had an ultrasound before." She said.
"Can I ask how many there are?"
Saoirse chuckled, "I'm not sure you want to know, but I'm a wolf so there are many."
Sirius gulped, then he sat up confidently. "You can count on me."
"Six." She said. "There are six."

Aksel was waiting there for them, a bit irritated that they had taken so long to get there.
Then when they got out, his anger doubled at the sight of what looked like a hickey on Sirius' neck. He looked at Saoirse and her neck had a few red dots from Sirius' fangs.
They smelled like they had slept together too. He scoffed. "We have a lot of work to do." He said to her. Why did you sleep in so long? You should have gone to bed earlier." He reprimanded them.
Saoirse linked fingers with Sirius and they came closer to Aksel. "I have a job for you Aksel." She said.
He crossed his arms, "what is it?" He asked.
She handed him the plans she had made for the taxes and the changes she wanted done to the pack.
"Sirius and I need to go get his other wife from his grandparents' house because he plans to divorce her. I don't know how long it will take, but we need you to implement these changes to the pack. I couldn't think of anyone more suited to this job since you have more experience than anyone I know."
He looked up from the paper and looked her in the eyes. "You trust me? Even after what I did last night?"
"Show me you are trustworthy." She said, "do this job and I will pay you well."
He nodded. "I will. Thank you." He turned to go and Saoirse added. "Oh and Aksel."
"Yeah?"
"Don't pretend to be Alpha. I'm only giving you authority to act in my absence and if you abuse of that, you will be kicked out of the pack." She said sternly.
Aksel looked at Sirius and Sirius nodded back at him. "Ok. You can count on me. I won't pretend to be Alpha."
Sirius grabbed his shoulder as he once again turned to leave. "Aksel. I'm sorry for my behavior last night. I embarrassed you in front of Saoirse. I didn't want you messing with my girl. But I know what you're feeling right now. He pointed to his neck and showed Aksel the blight.
Aksel pulled away from Sirius' grasp and angrily wondered what on earth Sirius was talking about and was about to tell him to leave it alone, that he didn't want to hear about him and Saoirse's love life.
"This isn't a hickey." Sirius said, "I know you would be wondering about that, I saw you looking at it."
Aksel looked at Saoirse's neck too and folded his arms. "Don't fool me, I see your fang marks on her neck too. Why do I care?"
Saoirse covered her red marks and got a bit embarrassed. "Mine is I guess." She admitted.
"It's not a hickey." Sirius repeated himself. "It's a blight. You see, my other wife, I bonded with her by mistake when I lost my memory of Saoirse and my grandfather told me that I should be with her. Well I don't want to. I want Saoirse. So that is hurting Maeve right now and I'm going to have to unbond with her or else this will fester and fester. I can't even touch Saoirse without feeling pain here."
"Well serves you right." Aksel said.
Sirius ignored him. "Once I take care of this blight problem, and work things out with Maeve, we will come back and I would ask you to keep your promise to take Saoirse back to her pack that she came from. If you do a good job, I will let you be Alpha of this pack and you can have an alliance with us."
Aksel smiled, "you would really forgive me for what I did?!"
Sirius nodded, "I mean it this time, no more trying to come between us."
Aksel beamed and nodded, "oh I will! You can count on me! Besides! Maybe your other wife will like me more! You can give her to me then, what do you say?"
Saoirse scoffed at him, "Don't push your luck Aksel I'm sure you're too rough for her."
"What's that supposed to mean!!!" He said defensively, "I can be romantic, you'll see!"
"Just focus on implementing those changes." Sirius responded, "then when you meet her, if she likes you then that will be your guys' business."
Aksel watched with an unreadable expression on his face as Sirius and Saoirse got into the Rimac Nivera and they pulled away around the round driveway of the Alpha's mansion.
What kind of cop car is that? Aksel thought bitterly, his eyes narrowing as he took in the sleek, polished vehicle. He let out a sharp sigh, resentment bubbling beneath the surface. Of course, Sirius would have something like this. Always has to one-up me.
He glanced at the paperwork that Saoirse had given him and flipped through the pages. They were some nice changes, it wouldn't get them a lot of money compared to what the previous Alpha had recieved, but perhaps he would have time to make some adjustments that were to his liking. He had to get some benefit too afterall. How much did saoirse intend to pay him for this job?
"Sir. If I may, Sirius asked me to help you with your work." A voice behind him said.
Aksel nearly jumped out of his boots and gave a shriek which angered his beast.
Where had this man come from???!
He turned around composed and the driver of the car was standing there, dressed in a nice suit.
"I suppose you're the person Sirius had on the inside?" Aksel said. Then he smiled. "Sirius is very intelligent afterall, it was the driver of the car the whole time."
The man nodded. "Sirius and I have worked together for several months now."
"Figures he would leave me with a babysitter." He handed the paperwork to Carlston. "In that case, you do it. I have better things to do."
