Chapter 143: What Might Be The Cause Of The Fight Between The High-Level Monsters?
Axel's PoV:
The high-level monsters continued launching multiple elemental projectiles towards me.
As usual, I maneuvered the [Dragon Wings] and [Flight] skill to evade all of the high-level monsters' attacks.
Although Pedonar had told me that he and the others will arrive at least a few minutes or so, the time it would take for them to arrive would be much slower in my point of view.
I had used my mana and speed stats so I was moving at a fast speed. Therefore, the flow of time in the world around me in my perspective would be much slower.
I had offset the mana consumption rate and mana recovery rate. I had done it by reducing a slight amount of mana when I'm using both the [Dragon Wings] and [Flight] skill while using some of my concentration in boosting the amount of mana I had absorbed in the environment by every second.
I was able to do so with the help of Axel 2 since he decided to help me in recovering my mana.
By doing that, Axel 2 was no longer researching about the high-level monsters but he still told me that he obtained common knowledge about the high-level monsters that I was currently facing.
As I was dodging the attacks of the high-level monsters, I noticed a slight change within the high-level monsters.
The high-level monsters continued attacking me but the number of high-level monsters attacking me and decreased.
I did not know if it was because the high-level monsters had run out of mana due to using numerous elemental magic skills to attack me.
But all I knew was that the high-level monsters must have been plotting about something.
Most of my concentration was focused on evading the elemental projectiles that the high-level monsters had launched while a few of my concentration was focused on absorbing the mana in the surroundings.
Axel 2 was still occupied in absorbing the mana in the surroundings but I decided to activate [Mana Stack] to use the stored mana in the [Mana Stack] skill to recover the mana that I had consumed.
By activating [Mana Stack], it allowed me and Axel 2 to stop recovering my mana.
The [Mana Stack] skill had stored ten times the amount of mana that I currently had and 4 percent of the stored mana in it was used to recover the mana that I had consumed.
The [Dragon Wings] and [Flight] skill was consuming my mana by 5 percent of my total mana amount every minute (original time) that had passed by.
I consumed 5 percent of my mana that was stored in the [Mana Stack] skill to obtain a minute's worth of break-in recovering my mana.
By doing so, my concentration was only used by a half and the other half was used to communicate with Axel 2.
It seemed that Axel 2 had already guessed the intention of my action so he talked to me first.
[Axel 1, are you going to ask what happened to the high-level monsters?]
Yes, I only knew a few of the reasons why the high-level monsters had acted against me.
Axel 2, must have other reasons for why you were researching information about the high-level monsters.
[Yes, you are right about that. As you had witnessed, the high-level monsters decided to eliminate you first since you were an outsider.]
The high-level monsters must have allowed me to defeat the weakest amongst them to test my skills and decided to eliminate me after knowing my capabilities.
[The high-level monsters had reached a consensus between them and do you know what the content of their consensus is?]
The one who gets to defeat me first will obtain the experience points that the high-level monsters get for killing me without causing enmity between the high-level monsters.
[You're right about that. If one of the high-level monsters managed to kill you, then they will obtain your experience points, and even if it's a small amount to them, it would still be significant to increase their chances of winning the battle between them.]
The high-level monsters must have a reason for them to fight against each other.
It would either be a natural fight between the high-level monsters such as a territorial dispute, prey distribution, and law of the jungle (or eating each other so that the surviving one will become stronger), or someone or something must have caused a fight between the high-level monsters.
The worst-case scenario would be both of the reasons I had thought of were the reason why the high-level monsters fought against each other.
[We can't rule out the possibility that there was someone who instigated the fight between the high-level monsters since it's much more likely considering that the high-level monsters were territorial.]
Right... If the high-level monsters weren't territorial, they would have already sown discord between each other.
The high-level monsters should have an agreement with each other that prevented them from fighting against each other.
After all, most beings seek peace to prevent any pointless encounter and problem to arise between them yet either one of them or a third party had caused a conflict between them.
The reason might be either for amusement or there was a great scheme at work.
If it was the latter, then it would be much more troublesome to deal with.
The demons must have been involved in this case but I can't possibly pin all of the problems that were caused by the demons.
The agreement between the demon race and other races to not let the demon race interfere with outgrowth was coming to an end in only three weeks.
{The demon race, from what I had read from some of the books, had the majority of them possessing an evil mind but it's not like there wasn't anyone who had a good mind within them. Take Pedonar for an example.}
{Pedonar hated the way his father and the members of his race kept on waging war between other races so he wanted to end it and have peace between all races.}
{After you enslave Pedonar, just as he knew about the existence of the system and some of your secrets that you didn't protect that much, you were also able to know what's his intentions were and found out that his intentions about world peace were genuine.}
Axel 2 was right. If I wanted to, I could probe more into the secrets and memories of the slaves that I had contracted with as long as the contracted slaves didn't protect that secret or memories too much.
It would harm the mind and soul of the contracted slave if the Master of the slave decided to probe into their protected secrets or memories but knowing that the contracted slave didn't want the Master to know about that would alarm the Master that the slave must have a reason to hide that secret or memory.
That said reason might be a secret or memory that the slave would find too painful to disclose such as a traumatic event in their life.
It could also be the slave had a plan in betraying their master so it was up to the master to decide which of the two was the reason why the slave can't disclose the secret or memory that the master wanted to probe into.
But the two reasons alone would allow the master to be able to know in advance the slave's possible motive so it would alarm the master to be wary of the slave.
{The skill which allowed you to enslave any beings that you got from the system is kind of a rare type of slavery-type magic skill.}
{Usually, a master and slave relationship formed using the slave contract only allows the master to manipulate the slave. The master who used that kind of slavery type magic skill would need to use pain stimulation or mind control to make the being they enslave submit to him but it needed a medium to do so such as a collar, ring, necklace, or any other accessory that could be equipped on the slave.}
{Any slave contract that involves a medium to enslave a being will be much faster to break the bond between the master and the slave because another being would only need to destroy the magic circle which was placed in the medium to free the slave.}
I had not read that much about the slave contract since I'm too focused on increasing my power and proficiency of my skills.
The system had not elaborated the use of the [Enslave] skill and the system had revealed its existence to all and if not, then most of the slaves that I had contracted with.
The system had not told me about it either I forgot to ask or the information I asked for was considered as mid-tier information since I couldn't access any information above low-tier unless the system reached level 4.
{We still have time to talk about the things I found out from the slave contract so we might as well do so.}
