The Gamer who traveled to Honkai: Star Rail

Chapter 718: Bouncing Toward the Next Quest

Sparkle looked at her own Q-bouncing self along with everyone else.

At first, she had been confused, but now she was delighted.

"Interesting~ interesting~ so this is the power of players? And this still isn't the limit, right? It's just that…"

She still didn't really understand how Pei Guang had done it.

She remembered very clearly: he and Stelle had only muttered a few words, and then they suddenly started bouncing?

Well, who cares~ as long as there's fun to watch, she's happy.

Sparkle led the way, while Pei Guang's group followed behind, their Q-bouncing bodies spreading like a virus.

But when they reached the area near the Oti Mall, Sparkle suddenly realized something strange: where did the people following her go?

"Where are they?"

She remembered very clearly, those three had been acting crazy, sure, but at least they were following her.

How did they suddenly vanish in just one turn? Where are they? Where???

The answer was, they hadn't gone far.

When they entered the area around the Oti Mall, the three had still been bouncing faithfully behind Sparkle.

But while following, Pei Guang, always searching around for quests, noticed some traces of one.

Because of Pei Guang's influence, most people nearby had started bouncing out of curiosity.

Some who weren't interested didn't bounce, but they still wore an expression like they were enjoying the show. Some who were working managed to maintain professionalism, but their eyes still couldn't help sneaking glances.

Among these people, however, Pei Guang noticed something unusual. Near the entrance of a clothing store, a brown-skinned girl was crouched down in pain, holding herself tightly.

A magazine had fallen beside her, and from inside it a note had slipped out.

Seeing this anomaly, the experienced Pei Guang spoke up: "You two, stop for a sec! I've found a quest!"

Following the direction of his finger, Stelle and Firefly also saw the distressed girl.

Inexperienced, Firefly raised her head to Pei Guang's gaze: "She looks like… she really needs help…"

Stelle nodded firmly: "That's right! So, based on experience, we should help her, complete her quest, and get a reward that's useful to us! Right, Ah Guang?"

Pei Guang nodded: "Exactly! According to tradition…"

Before he could finish, Stelle was already swaying her head, answering ahead: "According to tradition, rewards from quests are super helpful for later side routes. Hehe~ I've memorized your lines."

Pei Guang tapped Stelle's head: "Not just memorized—you're even answering ahead of me now."

Firefly understood what Pei Guang meant, but looked uneasily toward Sparkle, who was still bouncing ahead, and whispered: "But weren't we supposed to…"

Pei Guang waved it off: "Not a problem. That quest of hers is obviously a side one. And side quests can be urgent or not urgent. Besides, quests don't disappear as long as we don't push the main storyline. We can stall her for now. This girl, though—she looks like she really needs us.

And besides, Sparkle just dropped a nice effect for us. She probably won't be able to drop any more loot for a while. Perfect time to do a quest, burn some time, and then fully loot her later."

Stelle: "Well said! Then you'll see my luck in action."

She was eager, and Firefly also looked a bit expectant, but when she thought about her own identity, her mood sank again.

Pei Guang patted her shoulder: "What's there to be sad about? You can try too. Who knows~ you might get something."

Firefly: "I can too?"

Pei Guang shook his head: "Don't know. But you can try~ you'll never know unless you do."

And so the trio didn't even bother to inform Sparkle. They simply went to help the one who looked like she needed it.

After all, players never go up to an NPC and say, 'I'll skip this quest for now, I'm doing something else.'

By the time Sparkle realized they were gone, the group had already vanished without a trace.

Sparkle started scouring the whole place, searching for the missing trio.

As for Pei Guang's group, they had already surrounded the brown-skinned, short-haired woman.

This woman, named Cocona, was still crouched in pain, not even noticing the strangers around her. The shop attendants inside had noticed, but chose silence.

Cocona took several deep breaths, and only after a long while did she feel better. When she tried to stand, she suddenly saw three… people?

Pei Guang stood in the center, looking down at her with a calm face. What kind of terrifying beast might be hiding under that calm expression, it was impossible to know.

To his left was Stelle, holding a strange watermelon and watching her with an amused, half-smile expression.

To his right was Firefly, arms crossed, trying to hold back an expression. But inexperienced as she was, she was the first to crack: "Cough cough! Sorry, I couldn't hold it in…"

Seeing the three of them speak, Cocona cautiously asked: "Excuse me, is there something I…"

As a luxury boutique manager, she had seen all sorts of customers. Even those who looked fierce, she could usually handle well.

But before she could finish, Pei Guang shook his head and interrupted: "Yes! Of course there is. I can see you're not in a good state right now. Beautiful lady, is there anything you need help with? No matter the task, request, or commission, we can complete it for you, because we are…"

At this point, Stelle's DNA seemed to resonate, and she instinctively continued: "We are the Trailblazers, travelers across the galaxy! What we're best at is helping people solve their problems."

Firefly raised her hand: "I'm not a Trailblazer"

Pei Guang: "That's right! You're not a Trailblazer. But right now, you're our companion or if you prefer, partner."

"Partner…" Firefly was at a loss for words, half laughing, half exasperated.

Watching the three acting like clowns, Cocona couldn't help but smile. But just as she was about to say something, pain overtook her again—she hugged her body and trembled.

Stelle: "What do we do? She looks like she's hurting too much to even talk…"

Pei Guang began to think seriously: "Look! Her expression, her movements, her state… all of them are telling us she's sick. So what do you do when someone's sick?"

Stelle: "See a doctor!"

Firefly: "Take medicine?"

Pei Guang: "Exactly! And we happen to have a miracle medicine that cures most illnesses!"

Firefly: "Huh?"

Pei Guang pulled out a special concoction made by Bailu along with an all-attribute recovery item.

Holding them up, he explained: "This is a special medicine made by the Vidyadhara High Elder on the Xianzhou Luofu. According to Bailu, most common illnesses can be cured with this. And this here is a consumable that restores all attributes: only five percent per dose, but it stacks. Eat more and together they guarantee common illnesses vanish."

Firefly's eyes lit up at the sight: "If you combine them, can they cure anything?"

Pei Guang shook his head: "Not anything! Bailu said they can cure most common illnesses. But things like heart sickness, or very rare diseases that can't be treated with medicine, those won't work. Still, that's not a problem: she doesn't look like she has some incurable condition. Come on! Give her the medicine!"

Hearing this, Firefly's expression drooped. After all, this was only medicine for illnesses.

As for her own situation… she couldn't even say if it counted as a sickness.

While Firefly was lost in thought, Pei Guang and Stelle had already started acting.

Pei Guang grabbed Cocona's trembling shoulders to hold her still, while Stelle pulled out the gourd Bailu had given them.

She didn't know water manipulation, so she couldn't make the medicine fly into place. She could only shove the gourd into Cocona's mouth and pour the medicine down.

"Uuugh!!"

The medicine went in, but Cocona didn't get any better.

Seeing this, Stelle frowned: "She still looks really bad… did the medicine not work?"

Pei Guang rubbed his chin: "That's strange. She's just a small NPC's temporary quest—our basic items should definitely work. Wait…"

Something clicked in his mind. From his storage, he pulled out the 'Emotional Manifestation' he'd dug out of a trash bin.

[Emotional Manifestation: Can be used to repair people's emotional dials, helping them recover lost feelings]
