Chapter 108: Chase down
Cyreth took slow and deliberate steps on the sand. He watched as the immortal Demon King was desperately trying to crawl out of the burnt hole on the ground.
The day was almost over. Several hours had passed and the sun had already disappeared, replaced by the moon, the stars, and one red orb in the sky.
Angelus pulled himself out of the crevice and then tiredly stood up. He looked at Cyreth with such hateful eyes that even Dhein felt it.
Still, the fallen god confidently walked forward and approached the Demon King. And after the completely one-sided beat down, Angelus realized that he had no chances of winning against Cyreth. The difference between an angel and a god was just too immense.
Once again, Angelus evolved into a new form. He already knew what Cyreth was planning the moment he saw the artificial star in the sky. Cyreth wanted to hoist him up there, a place far enough from earth and with a strong enough gravitational pull to keep Angelus from leaving.
So, Angelus wanted to be as heavy as possible. And to make it even harder for Cyreth to execute his plan, Angelus was going to hide in the water.
He evolved into a massive sea creature.
His limbs were torn out of his body, his skin inflated with the growing flesh inside it. Over time, his shape, his form, his face, they changed into something grotesque and unimaginable.
A giant figure that looked like a lizard or a crocodile with long tentacles protruding from its spine, crawled into the water. It was so massive, bigger than an entire ship. As it submerged itself under the ocean, it caused the ground to temporarily shake and the waves to behave unnaturally.
Cyreth scoffed.
"Should I evaporate the entire ocean then?"
He heard Dhein's voice yelling from inside his head.
'Don't do that!'
The fallen god began walking forward into the water. Then, when he was about knee level deep, he suddenly leaped up, shattering the ground where he once stood. Cyreth flew into the sky right above the ocean. He started falling and his body positioned itself for a deep dive.
After a few seconds, Cyreth hit the surface of the water in perfect form. He swam into the dark depths, but somehow, Dhein was still able to see their surroundings in great detail.
There it was. The giant lizaridon creature that was swimming deeper and deeper into the ocean.
Cyreth kicked his feet and tore the water. He moved at an incredible speed, even faster than the fastest shark in the ocean. The gap between him and Angelus was becoming smaller and smaller then, eventually, he was able to grab its tail.
Once he had a hold of him, Cyreth tossed the giant lizard upward, causing the waters to explode from the inside. Then the god propelled himself upward and met the Demon King's gaze mid air as they emerged from the surface.
Even as an abomination, Angelus expressed raw fear upon seeing Cyreth's face.
A crimson orb appeared on Cyreth's hand once more. Before they could fall back into the water, he threw the orb at Angelus' face and wrecked his entire body in a single blow. By the time Angelus regenerated, they had hit the water surface.
He ran. Angelus ran so fast that he floated on the surface of the ocean. Cyreth followed the giant lizard with a speed that divided the waves. His legs appeared as a blur as they moved faster than light could represent.
The lizard suddenly turned and slapped him with his thorny tail. Cyreth jumped over it and, before he could sink, slapped the water's surface to keep himself above it.
The two moved at unrealistic speeds, turning the water into a solid battlefield. Red explosions splashed in the ocean. Waves were being manipulated by the sheer forces of their attacks. The giant lizard was extremely strong and sturdy. Every time it chomped, shockwaves resonated to the next continents. When it swung its tail, the waves and the wind would have no choice but to come back the way they came. This disturbance in the atmosphere inevitably caused hurricanes, whirlpools and tornados to form all around them.
Hours went by, the night grew colder. Thunders roared in the skies and the storms made mountains of waves in the ocean.
In the middle of all these were two terrifying entities messing up the way nature worked. A massive lizard was running from a savage god, causing the wind current to shift.
Cyreth accelerated even faster and slashed Angelus' in half. He took the one that was regenerating and then tossed it into the sky before kicking the water to push himself upward, following the fallen angel.
But to his dismay, the regeneration stopped and Angelus shifted his soul to the other half that was still in the waters. The Demon King then ran away but Cyreth pursued him tirelessly.
As Cyreth was falling, a quantum explosion caught him. The impact sent him higher into the sky and the next occurred. And then the next. One explosion after another bombarded Cyreth.
So he threw the young star towards Angelus' brain. The cleaver of reality tore through the monster's skull and finally, the explosions stopped. As soon as he was back on his feet, the explosions returned but he was able to dodge them with ease.
'So I can't fight in the air, huh...' Cyreth thought.
Angelus picked this up as well and evolved right then and there. He grew a pair of bat-like wings and his limbs extended longer. He then began to fly into the air, away from Cyreth.
When he thought that the god was running at his top speed, Angelus was extremely disappointed and frightened when Cyreth moved even faster.
The water exploded at his feet as he disappeared. Angelus had already reached the south pole when Cyreth suddenly appeared mid air in front of him.
The draconic face was met with Cyreth's fist. After getting hit by a powerful punch, the evolved demon crashed into the snow.
