The Former Marine

Chapter 43: Chapter 58-59-60

Chapter 58: Laughter and Reflection

It was a sunny morning in Medellín, and the Kardashian-Jenner family, along with Derek, decided to take the day to relax. After a busy day of sightseeing in the city, everyone was looking forward to a quiet moment to unwind and enjoy each other's company.

Kris, ever the organizer, suggested that everyone watch a comedy. "We need something light to relax after yesterday. How about a comedy?"

Kylie, sitting next to Derek on the couch, nodded. "I agree! Let's pick something funny."

Derek, who was curled up with Aire on his lap and Stormi playing with her toys next to him, smiled. "I have a suggestion. How about 'Spy and a Half'? It's with The Rock and Kevin Hart. I'm sure it'll get a good laugh out of everyone."

Kim, who was flipping through a magazine, looked over curiously. "Spy? Really, Derek? Don't you get tired of this subject?"

Derek laughed. "Believe me, it's much more comedy than espionage. And considering what I do, I'm going to have fun commenting on what would or wouldn't be possible in real life."

Kendall, always the most curious, agreed excitedly. "I'm in! I want to see what you have to say about it."

With the movie decided, everyone settled into the living room of the luxurious mansion in Medellín. The large leather sofa comfortably accommodated everyone, and the children were distracted by their toys. The atmosphere was relaxed, with a table to the side filled with snacks, sodas and popcorn.

As soon as the movie started, the funny scenes and Kevin Hart's jokes had everyone in stitches. The contrast between The Rock's big, confident character and Kevin Hart's clumsy one was hilarious, and it didn't take long for the room to be filled with laughter.

"Oh my God, he looks like a tank with legs!" Khloé exclaimed, pointing to The Rock in one of the over-the-top action scenes.

Derek smiled, shaking his head. "Yeah, he really has a presence. I don't know if I've met anyone in the real world who has The Rock's physique, but… some of his action scenes are pretty funny."

The scene where The Rock and Kevin Hart's characters attempt to pull off an amateur spy mission had everyone laughing so hard they could barely breathe.

"Can you imagine Derek in that situation?" Kendall asked, laughing and looking at her sisters.

Kim quickly responded, still holding her stomach from laughing so hard. "Definitely not! Derek would be much more serious. This is totally different from what he does."

Derek, always with a good sense of humor, joined in the fun. "If I were on that mission, maybe I would have finished it in five minutes. But of course, without Kevin Hart around," he said, winking at Kendall, who laughed out loud.

In one of the film's most absurd moments, The Rock's character reveals that he faked his own death and lived in secret for years. Kris, always attentive to detail, raised an eyebrow and looked at Derek curiously.

"Derek, is that really possible? Could someone from the CIA just disappear like that, fake their own death, and no one would notice?"

Derek laughed, shaking his head. "Definitely not the way they portray it in the movie. The CIA monitors its agents very closely. Even if someone tried to disappear, the agency would probably know. They have the resources to track anyone, especially their own agents."

Kylie looked at Derek with a smile, leaning on his shoulder. "So you could never disappear on me, huh?"

Derek gave her a soft kiss on the forehead. "Never. I couldn't even if I wanted to."

The family turned their attention back to the movie, with more hilarious moments involving The Rock and Kevin Hart trying to unravel a conspiracy, but in totally unusual and awkward ways. The mix of over-the-top action and irreverent humor kept everyone engaged, and Derek's constant reactions to the "out of touch" spy scenes made the experience even more entertaining.

"This definitely wouldn't work in real life," Derek commented, during a scene in which The Rock drives a car at high speed through crowded streets, dodging every obstacle perfectly. "No one does that with such precision in a real scenario. And the CIA would definitely have shut down the mission if something went wrong like that."

Kris laughed. "I knew we were going to get a realistic view of you. That makes it even funnier."

Stormi, always attentive to what her parents were doing, climbed onto Derek's lap, who hugged her affectionately as she watched the screen, mesmerized by the colors and movement, even though she was too young to understand the movie. Kylie watched the scene with a happy smile on her lips, loving how natural Derek seemed in his role as the protective stepfather.

The night was filled with laughter and fun, with everyone completely absorbed by the film's light and absurd comedy. When the credits began to roll, Derek looked around, seeing everyone's relaxed and happy faces, and felt grateful for that moment of relaxation.

"I didn't expect to laugh so much," Kim admitted, standing up and stretching. "That was great. We needed that."

Kendall looked at Derek with a look of respect. "You have to admit, although it's super unrealistic, The Rock makes a pretty cool spy."

Derek laughed. "Oh, sure. He makes it look easy. But in real life, it would be very different. However, if he wanted to join the world of espionage, I think he would have a chance."

"What about Kevin Hart?" Khloé asked, still smiling. "Do you think he would make a good spy partner?"

Derek paused dramatically, pretending to think deeply. "Well... maybe. But he would have to stop yelling on every mission."

Everyone laughed once more as they began to tidy up the living room, turning off the TV and gathering up the remaining snacks.

"It was quite a day," Kylie said, picking up Aire, who was already sleepy. "Thanks, Derek, for suggesting the movie. It was perfect for unwinding."

Derek gave her a warm smile. "Whenever you need a good laugh, you can count on me."

As the end of the night approached, everyone headed to their rooms, leaving the mansion's living room in silence. The trip to Medellín had been full of unforgettable moments, and that day of family laughter would be another one to be remembered by everyone.

Chapter 59: Farewell to Medellín

The days in Medellín passed with unexpected tranquility for the Kardashian-Jenner family and Derek. From the moment they arrived, everyone was enchanted by the city and the hospitality of the Colombians. The mansion that Kris had rented was luxurious, with stunning views of the mountains and a lush garden, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the tropical heat.

Derek, as always, was at ease. He loved exploring the city, practicing his fluent Spanish and taking the family to experience the local culture. Each day, they did something new: visiting tourist attractions, such as the famous Pueblito Paisa, strolling through the squares, and always coming back with a funny or curious story to tell.

One day, Kylie, holding Stormi's hand, commented as they walked down a historic street:

"I didn't know Medellín was so beautiful. I thought it was more of an urban city, but these mountains... they remind me of Los Angeles, but with a different twist."

Derek agreed, carrying Aire in his arms.

"Yes, many people have the wrong image of the city. Medellín is an incredible place, with a lot of culture and history. And the people here are super welcoming."

Kris, who was walking right behind, watched with a smile.

"I'm glad we decided to come here. It was a great choice. And Derek, your Spanish is impressive. I didn't realize you spoke it so well."

Derek shrugged modestly.

"Oh, it was one of those skills I had to perfect over the years. I've done several missions in Spanish-speaking countries, so I needed to be fluent."

Kendall, always the most curious and involved in the conversations, looked at Derek and asked

"What kind of missions? Any here in South America?"

Derek hesitated for a moment before answering with an enigmatic smile.

"Let's just say I've been to a lot of places, and some of them are close by. But not everything can be talked about, unfortunately."

Kylie gave Derek a slight shove, laughing.

"Always so mysterious. Sometimes I forget how full of secrets you are."

They spent the rest of the day visiting some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including the Museo de Antioquia, where they were able to admire the art of Fernando Botero. Kim, in particular, was fascinated by the artist's robust and exaggerated sculptures, taking several photos to share on her social media.

In the evening, everyone returned to the mansion, tired but happy. They sat around the large dining table and talked about the day's adventures, laughing at the situations they had experienced. Kris, as always, paid attention to every detail and made sure that each meal was a feast, with a mix of Colombian dishes and international cuisine.

Derek felt at peace when he saw Stormi and Aire running around the garden. It was as if, for a brief moment, his life could slow down, and he could enjoy these precious moments with the woman he loved and his new family. He couldn't help but smile when he saw Kylie come over to him, sitting next to him on the outdoor couch.

Kylie looked at him fondly.

"Thank you for these days, Derek. I never imagined this trip would be so special."

He took her hand, squeezing it gently.

"I'm grateful to be here with you. It's these moments that make it all worth it."

However, like all good things, the days in Medellín were coming to an end. The family knew they would soon have to return to their hectic routines in Los Angeles, with appointments, filming, fashion shows and the usual chaos.

On their last night in the city, everyone decided to have a special dinner at the mansion. The table was decorated with colorful flowers, and everyone gathered for a delicious meal, featuring Colombian dishes prepared by local chefs. There was laughter, stories being told, and even the children seemed to be more excited than usual, making the most of their last night in such a beautiful place.

Kendall, ever the enthusiast, raised a glass of juice and made a toast.

"To the incredible family moments and the new memories we've made here! Medellín will always be special for this."

Everyone raised their glasses and toasted, smiling. Derek looked around and realized how precious those few days had been. It wasn't often that he had so much free time, with no missions or responsibilities to attend to, and he was grateful for that.

The next morning, it was time to leave. The mood was light, but there was a certain melancholy in the air as everyone packed their bags and took one last look at the mansion they had called their temporary home. Derek, ever the practical one, helped load the bags onto the private jet while the children were loaded on board.

On the way to the airport, Kim sighed, looking out the window.

"I'm going to miss it here. But it's nice to know we have a haven if we want to go back."

Kylie, Stormi asleep in her lap, nodded.

Once everyone was on board the jet, Derek sat next to Kylie, who looked exhausted but happy. He placed his hand on hers and smiled.

"Ready to come back to reality?"

She laughed softly. "Not exactly, but I think we need to."

During the flight, the family talked about upcoming trips and commitments, but always with a touch of nostalgia for the peaceful days they spent together. Derek, however, was focused on the present, enjoying every second with Kylie, Stormi and Aire, knowing that moments like this were rare in his life.

When they landed in Los Angeles, the familiar hustle and bustle of the city surrounded them again, with paparazzi waiting at the airport and urgent commitments for the following week. But as they stepped off the jet and returned to their routines, they all knew that those memories of Medellín would remain alive in their hearts.

And for Derek, it was yet another reminder of how much his life had changed. Now, he was not just the lonely, mysterious man of special operations, but someone who had a family, moments to share, and a future with the people he loved.

Chapter 60: New Students at Derek's Gym

Derek's routine had returned to normal after his trip to Medellín. He was once again focused on his gym, where he continued to teach self-defense, combat tactics, and physical conditioning. His gym had quickly gained fame, not only for his own impressive track record, but also through word of mouth among his students, many of whom were celebrities.

That morning, the sun was streaming through the large glass windows that surrounded the gym, illuminating the equipment and the mats. Derek was just finishing setting up the place when the first group of students began to arrive. His first student of the day was a long-time friend, a well-known actor who trained with him regularly, but now, new faces were starting to show up.

Kylie, who frequented the gym regularly, also helped the place become popular. A simple post from her on her social networks was enough to attract the curiosity of other celebrities. And so, that morning, some unexpected figures showed up at the door.

As Derek warmed up and waited for his students to arrive, he noticed a group of three people approaching the reception area. Among them was none other than The Rock—Dwayne Johnson. He walked in with a big smile on his face, accompanied by his team, and greeted Derek with a firm handshake.

"So, this is the famous Derek Rogan's place?" Dwayne joked, looking around. "I've heard good things about you."

Derek smiled back, surprised but happy. "Good to see you here. Are you ready to sweat?"

"I'm always ready. I want to see if I can keep up with you on the mat," Dwayne replied, his tone challenging but good-natured.

Before they could begin, another celebrity walked into the gym Gal Gadot. The actress was dressed in workout clothes and seemed excited for the class.

"I hope I'm not late," she said, laughing.

Derek walked over and greeted her with a smile. "No, it's on time. Welcome. I hope you're ready."

With the group complete, Derek began the class. He knew that the presence of such well-known figures could be a distraction for the other students, but he kept his focus on teaching and ensuring that everyone left not only stronger, but with real skills to protect themselves.

He started with a warm-up and then led everyone through a series of self-defense exercises. Derek demonstrated the techniques, while Dwayne, Gal and the other students followed attentively, repeating the movements on the mat. At one point, Gal approached Derek to clarify a doubt about a disarming technique.

"I know that in movies we do this in a choreographed way, but how would it work in real life?" Gal asked, with a curious smile. Derek, always patient and attentive, demonstrated the movement again, explaining the technical details.

"Here, the important thing is not strength, but leverage and speed. If you do the movement correctly, even someone stronger than you will not be able to resist."

Gal tried the movement, and with Derek's guidance, managed to perform the disarming perfectly.

"Impressive!" she exclaimed, pleased.

The class continued with intensity, and everyone was sweating as they tried to keep up with Derek's fast pace. Dwayne, always competitive, tried to overcome the challenges, while Derek encouraged him to improve even more.

"Come on, I know you can do better, Johnson," Derek teased, with a smile on his face.

Between one exercise and another, more celebrities began to appear. Kendall Jenner, always passionate about physical exercise, appeared in the middle of the class and quickly joined the group. Other famous names such as Chris Hemsworth and Henry Cavill also showed up to check out the gym and talk to Derek about future classes.

By the end of the session, everyone was exhausted, but clearly satisfied with the workout. Dwayne, in particular, seemed impressed.

"Man, you are a monster. I don't think I sweat this much even on action sets."

Derek laughed, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"It's a pleasure to train with you guys. You guys are in great physical shape, but here we work on more than just muscles. We want to make sure that in any situation, you know how to defend yourself and come out of it in one piece."

At the end of the class, the students began to disperse, but not before thanking Derek for the experience. Dwayne shook Derek's hand again and promised to come back for another class. "It was intense, but I enjoyed it. And, man, I'm going to spread the word about your gym."

Gal Gadot also thanked him. "It was great to really learn. I think I can now apply some of these techniques to future films."

Kendall, who stayed after the class to chat, praised the gym. "Derek, this place is getting more and more popular. Soon you'll have a line waiting just to get in."

He smiled, proud, but remained humble. "The important thing is that people learn something useful and real."

After class, Kylie arrived to pick up Derek. She'd spent the day babysitting, but she knew it was full of new students. When she walked into the gym and saw all the familiar faces, she laughed. "Are you turning this into a Hollywood hangout?"

Derek shrugged. "They're coming on their own. I'm just doing what I know how to do."

Kylie looked around and noticed Dwayne Johnson was still hanging around, chatting with a few students. She smiled. "Well, it looks like you're doing pretty well. Not just anyone can make The Rock sweat."

Derek laughed, giving Kylie a kiss. "Yeah, who would have thought? But the important thing is that everyone leaves here with more knowledge and confidence."

Kylie hugged Derek. "I'm sure they are. And you're doing an amazing job."

As celebrities continued to come and Derek's academy's reputation grew, he remained steadfast in his goal: to teach real skills, to ensure that all of his students were ready for whatever life might throw their way, and, of course, to always have fun in the process.

With new faces joining every week and the waiting list growing, Derek knew he had something special on his hands. But most importantly, for him, each class represented a new challenge, a new opportunity to teach and, in a way, to continue doing what he's always done best: preparing people for the unexpected.
