Chapter 7: A Change of Plans
I got comfortable in the house for the night, nothing appeared to be wrong so I could trust it I guess. This village really did appear to be a lot better than I thought it would be.
Lena is still out there though, I wonder how she's doing now. If she forgot me too, what do would she even be thinking about anymore?
Her family, the innocent people of the world? It's a pretty good question I guess but no one can really answer that.
Haru fell asleep with the thoughts of what could or couldn't be the case with his sister after everything that happened. But the sun began to rise over the small village with everyone returning to their usual routines.
"Yawn. Time to continue my search." Haru thinks to himself after yawning.
I don't even have the slightest clue where it could be but if the demons got it somehow there isn't a chance of me fixing this. I can still figure out my personal memory of my abilities and what not but everything else is a no go.
Time to get going.
Without any hesitation he grabbed his stuff and left the small house exactly as he found it with everything inside still. The people just gave a slight wave to him as he continued his way out of the village.
(A couple of days of travel and rest go by.)
Aimlessly traveling with the hope of finding what I need is getting me nowhere so what do I possibly do now? Maybe it's best to just train and do some studying until I'm capable of fighting the demon lord.
I need to make sure I'm strong enough to stop him anyway so it would be the smart way to go about it for right now.
Around Haru was some trees, leaves blowing about in the wind, a nice river stream flowing past him, animals going about their lives, and the sun shining through the trees.
It didn't take long for him to setup a small camp in the area, made up of whatever he could find to make this camp. Small logs, sticks for the campfire, cloth to establish the tent, and of course some food from smaller animals.
"You really do know how to take care of yourself huh?" A familiar voice speaks up from the shadows.
Someone out here with me? An assassin perhaps.
Quickly drawing his sword and glancing around the area he then noticed the familiar face come out from the shadows.
The girl with the short red hair, the one horn on her head, and the royal garbs around her armor.
"Mai? Are you the one who notified the demon death squad of me." Haru says with his sword drawn.
Before she could speak the entire environment had changed and we could see the kingdom of Shadow Moore once more.
(Shadow Moore. The Dragons Claw Inn.) Lena's View.
Inside of the inn was several parties of adventurers who kept talking about the sightings of demons becoming more and more of a common sight.
"The guild really needs to start getting quests going for these damn demons." A man says before chugging a beer.
"Yeah send out party!" Another guy shouts with some enthusiasm.
These adventurers probably haven't even fought a monster of A or S class to consider a fight with a demon. Heros could rank demons pretty low but to an adventurer it's completely different.
A low rank demons is probably b rank at the lowest possible rank but that's not good for them. Most adventurers around here rank within E - C.
"I wouldn't even think about the whole thing right now Lena." Koichi says while taking a drink from his mug.
Lena just gave a nod to what he said and continued to observe everything.
The conversations about demon quests becoming a possibility continued to go on for a few hours until the guild opened up the quest board. Most ended up leaving the inn to see the new quests.
"You think that Shuji is still out there somewhere or maybe Sorakami?" Lena asks while looking down at the map.
The map she was looking at was of the entire continent and what cities, towns, villages, and even temple locations were.
"Potentially. It's been a long time since any of them Have been seen. No proof was ever seen of them dying so I'd like to think they are out there." Koichi responds while scratching his chin.
The first group of heroes has been missing since the end of the war but no one knows why they disappeared. Some day they are still out there fighting while others believe they died off in the shadows of the world.
"You think the demon lord is coming back?" Lena asks with a bit of a concerned tone in her voice.
"He's bound to return one day. It's been peaceful for ten years and we never killed him so I'm sure he's built his army again." Koichi replies with a more serious tone.
A few people who sat in the area would glance over as they talked about the demon lord. A name that not many like to hear or even think about in any of the kingdoms.
Creeek. The door opened up and a man with silver armor, covered in dark black garbs all around the pauldrons, chest, and around his back came in. His face was concealed by a knight like helmet and the only eyes seen were dark red.
You'd think that his armor would be a bit louder with each step he took but it was silent. He made his way over to the table that Lena and Koichi sat at and pulled a stool over.
"Seems we're getting back to work." A deep raspy voice says with a bit of muffle from the helmet.
Arata Naoki. The third hero of our group, he's never shown his face since we've met and is one of the stronger ones in our group.
Quite the name for him out there already too, the angel of death. Some name for a hero huh.
