Chapter 20: The Temple
Managing to escape with everything in tact, Haru caught up to Mai as numerous shockwaves could be felt going past them.
"I'm glad you made it out alive. I really thought you might die." Mai says with a sad expression on her face, almost as if tears were about to go down her cheeks.
"I would've but someone saved me out there. I don't know who it was exactly but I'm sure they'll explain themselves soon enough." Haru responds while looking back towards the direction.
Flashing lights could be seen in the distance but it didn't stop the two of them from heading for the temple as it continued on.
It took them an hour to reach the temple and the shockwaves had finally died down a bit but the feeling was still within Haru. The feeling of death that he was about to be given by the demon lord.
I don't know how I thought it would be possible for me to kill her when my body couldn't even react in her presence. I'm going to have to get stronger if I want to have even the slightest chance of stopping her at all.
To kill the demon lord I'll have to find a way to get some sort of memory back. God, why did this curse have to be put on me of all the heroes out there.
It's so damn annoying.
The Temple looked like it had been abandoned for decades but yet as they entered the temple it was neat and well maintained. It had the appearance as if someone had been living there the whole time.
"It's peaceful here and to think it would look this nice on the inside is surprising." Mai speaks with a bit of shock in her voice.
That look of sadness was gone since we talked a bit on the way but it's not the most important to think about right now. She has a point about how this temple looks here but the figure did tell me to come here.
They must be the one keeping it this way but it makes sense why the outside is done like that. No one would have a reason to check out a temple if it looks like it's on the verge of collapsing.
All around the main room was different bags, weapons, broken armor pieces, and a nice bed on the side of the room. Some tattered pieces of paper were hung across the walls with a name on it.
Written in an unknown language with a drawing similar to the figure he saw back in the field. The only thing that Haru could read on the one page was "Sorakami." While the rest of it was unreadable.
Is this person looking for Sorakami or some sort of huge fan? No, that paper is not in human writing but his name is on it so what the hell is this.
Footsteps can be heard from behind Haru until a voice speaks.
"You want to die?" The Mysterious voice asks.
Immediately turning around he could see the same figure from before.
"Who are you?" Haru questions while staring at the figure.
"I know you're a hero and it seems that no one can remember that. But the demons all do and I've heard the name enough and recognize you from the description." The Figure responds while ignoring the question.
Haru stood with a bit of a confused expression on his face but he wasn't intimidated by the figure anymore. He was more or less curious about what he knows.
"You know who I am." Haru says while crossing his arms.
"Haru, I am Sorakami the Reaper. I believe you are lacking a lot of power from the Haru I knew back in the day." Sorakami replies while moving past him.
Sorakami. Sorakami disappeared off the face of the earth a long time ago and was presumed dead or missing but yet here he is standing before me? Not only that but he actually remembers me.
"I can't believe you're alive. Why have you been hiding?" Haru questions.
"You and me are the biggest targets out there right now. I've been hunting down every demon general that I can find but they keep coming back. So instead I decided to get stronger." Sorakami explains.
"W-What? How did you get stronger?" Haru asks with a bit of confusion.
Sorakami walks towards the wall and grabs a bag before continuing to explain.
"I've become the world's first SS class hero. I believe that you need to become one if you want to even have a chance against the demon lord. I'm willing to help teach you some things that you've forgotten and some new skills that no one but me knows." Sorakami explains a bit more.
Learning skills will help me become stronger and he just said something that no one has ever talked about once. SS class, something that was only ever said to be a possibility but never seen.
I need to go past my limits and reach that class myself if I want to become strong enough to stop the demon lord.
"You know my skills?" Haru questions with a bit of confusion.
"Did you forget that I helped you master them dumbass. Sigh. It seems some of your memories are gone too. Even when this training is done, you'll need to keep practicing or it'll be weak when you use them." Sorakami says while pulling out a scroll.
Mai stood against the wall on the left side of the room confused and didn't even know how to react to what was going on. How could she not have known Haru was a hero this whole time?
Flashes were going through her mind from something that happened years ago.
(Ten years ago, during the fight.)
Haru can be seen fighting th left hand with speed that sent waves upon waves throughout the area. Pushing the fight into an old kingdom that no longer exists on the map.
A girl with red hair and a horn could be seen hiding against a wall holding her hands over her knees, scared.
