The Forgotten S Class Hero

Chapter 15: The Kingdom of Everfiel

A kingdom full of vibrant colors, with something that can only be described as a heavenly sight. People all throughout the streets as if a big festival was going on today.

The gate was in more of a public space but guarded by elite knights who would be on the A class of level of adventurers.

Nobody questioned the fact that the heroes came through the gate but no one even batted an eye towards them.

"So this is the kingdom of Everfiel huh? It's beautiful." Koichi says with a happy expression on his face.

"It isn't the worst." Naoki speaks up while taking a look around.

It was a beautiful place to see but I've never felt so out of place before. I grew up away from the kingdoms in the forest basically so I can't say this is something I'm used to.

"Well we're here to find more help right? Let's get to it." Lena says while beginning to walk.

I didn't want to waste a lot of time since the demon lord is bringing war once again, we dont have time to sit around.

The three of them continued on their way away from the gate and towards the main palace. The king there was the one they were looking to speak to.

Walking past the guards towards the door, it opened up before them with the throne room revealing itself to them.

"Welcome to Everfiel Heroes." A royal guard standing besides the king says.

The three of them entered the room and then kneeled before the king. A man with long blonde hair, his long blonde beard, and his royal clothing was noticeable, a long with his crown of course.

"We've come looking for help with the rise of the second war on the horizon. The demons are showing up more and more by the day." Koichi speaks up with a polite tone in his voice.

The room stayed silent for awhile before the king finally decided to speak to the group before him.

This was the Great King Astaltes. The first king to bring about the idea of finding heroes to fight against the demons.

"I'm aware of the threat. I've already been working on bringing in more heroes to help in the coming war. Though the magic we're using is new and something not very well known to us." King Astaltes says with a gruff voice.

This was the king who brought about the idea of heroes like us or who at least wanted to start getting us involved. I'm not really surprised by his appearance but I didn't think he'd be so far away.

The Kingdom of Everfiel really does suit his appearance very well. I'm wondering what this new magic of theirs is though since it involves heroes too.

Could they be the ones behind summoning heroes? I did hear that it was a newer concept but that it was something that could redefine the era.

"What is so special about this magic?" Naoki speaks up with a bit of curiosity in his voice.

"Summoning magic. We're going as far as to summon heroes from another world if that's even possible. Our Oracle said it is but we're not entirely sure as the ritual is still going on." King Astaltes says while scratching his beard.

Summoning magic is still a newer concept of the world and it's on a wider scale with what they are trying to do. Bringing people from other worlds to help fight a war against the demon lord.

"It definitely sounds interesting." Koichi chimes in with an intrigued expression on his face.

"Well you are free to stay without paying anything here. Just give this coin to any of the inns and you'll be given a free place to stay. There's an army south of here preparing to attack. At least that's according to our scouting party." King Astaltes says before tossing a coin to the group.

The coin was unlike the usual ones because it had a special engraving of the king himself on the coin with a small red ruby engraved into the crown image. This was usually a sign that the king was covering whoever the coin was given to.

No expenses on the adventurers or hero that receives the coin while they remain within the Kingdom itself.

"Thank you for your kindness. We'll help out with the handling the demon army that's south of here as soon as we settle in." Lena speaks up with a respectful tone in her voice.

After that the group went down to the inn to get their belongings setup for the time being before they traveled outside the kingdom.

The inn they chose was called "The Everlasting Blossom." Which was something named after a flower the king had loved very much.

"At least we get a nice place to stay at while we're here. But I am ready to get to work." Naoki says with a more serious tone in his voice.

Naoki is always ready to hunt down demons which is something I don't blame him for but I'm not even that eager to fight them again. At the end of the day we're killing other beings that may not even know why they're doing it.

There's that side I get from my mother that I don't even understand. Kindness towards beings who really don't deserve it.

They've done so many terrible things to all the other races of the world but yet I'm trying to get over the thought of killing them.

"I think it'll be great to deliver justice once again. Protecting the innocent people is my job after all." Koichi says with pride in his voice.

There's our paladin Koichi, he never fails to amuse me. Though I wonder if he has a family somewhere like I do, kids who are waiting for their father to return.

I need to head home after this is all over but something compelled me to leave in the first place again.
