The First Mythical Dragon: Harem System

Chapter 172: Futile Efforts!

"Ja… Jasmine?" Daki mumbled in confusion, staring at the sudden aura that erupted around the C-rank hunter. It wasn't just a faint glow — it was like a living wave of energy, swirling around Jasmine with violent intensity.

Before anyone could react, Jasmine swung her hand, and in an instant, Lana's unconscious body floated up from the ground, surrounded by faint white particles of light, before gently landing in front of Daki.

Jake was slowly getting back up. He coughed loudly, spitting blood as his body trembled. His hybrid hulking form still remained, but all his extra limbs were gone — now, he was left with only a pair of massive hands, each twitching weakly at his sides.

Max was breathing heavily. He had already run out of MP from the countless slashes he had unleashed earlier. Now, all he had left was his raw strength and speed and against a monster like this demon, that wasn't nearly enough. The creature was already rising back up from the crater it had been slammed into by Jasmine's sudden burst of power.

"Ho… how is that possible? Jasmine?" Jake called out again, his voice shaking as he watched her staring down the demon like an entirely different person.

'Dragon eyes,' Max muttered inwardly, his instincts screaming at him. Something about the new aura wrapped around her didn't feel human at all.

His eyes flickered bright yellow as he activated his sight, peering at the aura surrounding Jasmine. The moment he saw it, his expression froze.

'Ho… ho… how is this possible? What the hell am I seeing, Pix?!' Max shouted in his mind, his heart racing like crazy.

But there was no reply. Not even a whisper.

'Pix?! Say something!' he called again, but silence was all he got. That silence sent a chill crawling up his spine.

'No… this doesn't make sense. Humans all have yellow auras. Beasts have purple. Hybrids have red. Demons have black. But why the fuck am I seeing white? Pure white, shining so bright that it burns through the air around her?! What the hell is going on?!

I never had a reason to check her aura before, so I don't know if she always had this or if it's appearing just now… but damn it! This isn't normal!'

He clenched his fists and shook his head hard, forcing himself to focus.

'No use thinking about that right now. What matters is the demon. All our combined attacks couldn't even make it flinch, yet Jasmine… she just lifted it off its feet with one blow. That means there's a chance we can win this.'

"Jasmine?" Jasmine muttered, her eyes flicking down to her glowing hands before turning toward the rising demon. "She's not at home right now. I'm in control and dragon vessel, I'm going to help you all take that thing down."

The demon froze for a second. Its burning eyes narrowed as it studied her more closely.

'Glowing eyes, glowing hands, floating hair…' it thought, its face twisting in disbelief. 'No… no, it can't be. Don't tell me… but how is th… this possible?!'

"Dragon vessel!" Jasmine suddenly shouted across the field.

Max snapped out of his thoughts instantly. "Just call me Max. It's obvious you're not Jasmine right now, so whoever's in there, call me by my name."

He took a fighting stance as Jake leaped beside him, his body trembling but his eyes burning with determination.

"Drag… Max!" Jasmine corrected quickly, her voice carrying a strange echo — like two people speaking as one. "I'll be the damage dealer. You both provide support, got it?"

Without another word, she bolted forward, her speed unreal. The ground cracked where she stood, and before anyone could even blink, she appeared in front of the demon, her fist glowing so bright it cast her shadow across the battlefield.

"Screw you! Even if you are what you are, I don't fear you!" the demon roared, leaping back several meters to dodge the blow that tore through the air.

The punch missed but the shockwave that followed wasn't something anyone could ignore. The air itself exploded outward, followed by a thunderous bang that echoed across the entire field. Dust rose. The ground shook.

The moment the demon landed on its feet, Max had already shot off like a bullet, appearing directly behind it, his eyes glowing a fierce yellow.

Without wasting even a heartbeat, he swung his claws toward the demon's back, aiming to tear it open completely.

But the creature sensed the incoming strike and spun around with terrifying speed, whipping its leg toward the dragon.

The kick came so fast that Max barely had time to react and in the blink of an eye, the impact connected, and a loud cracking sound filled the air. The force sent Max hurling several metres backward before he crashed into the ground, rolling to a stop.

"Made you look." A feminine voice drifted into the demon's ears.

It spun around instantly but too late. A blindingly fast punch was already descending on it.

With nowhere to dodge, the demon crossed its sickles just in time as the punch smashed into them. The impact was so strong that its arms trembled under the force, and its body was lifted slightly off the ground before slamming back down.

But the demon didn't let up. Snarling, it swung its weapons forward in one sweeping motion, unleashing a violent gust of air that blasted outward like a shockwave. Jasmine was caught in it and went skidding several metres back before she dug her feet into the ground to stop herself.

Jake didn't waste the chance. He darted forward like a blur, appearing directly in front of the demon, both hands thrust forward with every ounce of power he could muster. His massive fists streaked through the air, cutting inches away from the demon's chest.

"It's all futile!" the demon bellowed as it leaped high into the air, easily avoiding the twin punches. Jake clenched his teeth, halting in frustration as the creature hovered above.

"Come the fuck back down!" Max roared furiously, raising both glowing hands toward the sky. His claws shone a fierce blue, radiating heat and raw energy.

He swung them down with a thunderous motion, and suddenly, the demon's body jerked midair — its balance disrupted by the pull of the attack and it plummeted straight down.

"Oh, you're done for." Jasmine's voice rang out from above. She had already leaped into the air, both hands blazing with radiant white light. Without hesitation, she began hammering her fists downward in rapid succession.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Each strike she threw sent an enormous white projection of her fists rocketing down through the air. The demon snarled and swung its sickles, clashing with every blast. Sparks and shockwaves erupted as metal met energy again and again, shaking the battlefield.

Some attacks it managed to deflect, but others slipped past its defense, grazing its limbs and forcing it to dash frantically from side to side, avoiding the incoming barrage.

"It's evident that you're the weakest of them all!" the demon taunted, laughing darkly as it looked up at Jasmine still in midair.

But Jasmine only smirked, her glowing eyes narrowing.

"Unfortunately for you," a calm, sharp voice echoed from below, "I'm not the weakest."

The demon froze as Max's silhouette emerged from the haze of dust — his aura blazing hotter than before, the air around him shimmering from heat.

[Fireball]

Both of his hands ignited instantly, burning a bright, violent orange. The flames swirled around his arms as he glared at the demon, his eyes cold and merciless.
