Chapter 1472: Internalized Advancement
Prince Nathan also quickly noticed the change in the mana of the Tiny World.
"Karl? Is there a reason for the mana change?" He asked.
"I left the door open next to the hippo herd, and they're leaking mana from the Immortal Realm. That one's my bad. The Tiny World spell is highly attuned to it, so it's beginning to integrate with the space."
The Shadow Dragon paused as he considered that answer. It made sense, this skill was an incredibly powerful one. But attuning the Tiny World to the Immortal Realm would make it a peerless training ground for anyone who was in the peak levels of Mythic, with faster growth, and an extremely high chance of reaching the peak.
Not even the Mythic Rank dungeons had that advantage, and they came with great risks, as well as monetary instead of growth rewards.
After a certain point, money really did cease to matter as much.
Then, something else caused his mind to freeze.
"You're raising eggs in here. Dragon eggs, which will naturally absorb the power of the world around them. If they're in an environment like this, with massively increased mana, both in density and quality, what sort of incubation are they going to have?"
Karl shrugged. "Well, they started out on a continent with the System locked, and mana suppressed, so they had a slow growth in the early stages, this might just be enough to get them back on track.
Or, we might end up with some Royal Rank hatchlings, and that could be highly entertaining."
"How would that be entertaining?"
"Well, they're all orphans, right? So we can find them good homes. Perhaps with Noble families whose glory has faded. Or to side branches of great families.
They could all use an Heir that was born at Royal Rank, right?" Karl joked.
"That's awful. The amount of damage that could do to the political structure among the Noble families... oh, that was the point. Never mind."
The dragons who were living in the Tiny World all laughed at the expression on the Prince's face.
"You get used to it. We're all coming to terms with the fact that we're going to be the weakest members of the group much sooner than planned." Librarian Ike, the blue dragon assigned to the Tiny World, joked.
None of them were the strongest of their batch, that was how they had ended up on an assignment to an isolated separate space, even if it was operated by Karl, Avatar of the World Dragon, who the Gods were immensely curious about.
And through that, their clerics were also immensely interested in.
Karl was going to tease the Prince about wanting to stay in the space until he advanced when he suddenly sensed an Immortal Rank presence outside.
Perhaps today wouldn't be boring after all.
"One moment, while I go talk to a guy about a thing." He declared, then left the space, and a whole group of confused dragons.
Karl stood alone among the Hippos, many of whom came over to have their heads rubbed. If he didn't know better, he would swear that they were actually a domesticated animal.
But what he didn't immediately spot was the Immortal.
He could still sense the mana disturbance, it was close, but it was disguised.
There, on the right.
Karl turned and cast [Nullify] on the spot, as it was the least threatening option to reveal the intruder, in case they were a researcher sent by Azov or something equally innocuous.
Dakkarian smiled at Karl, who was still in Tengu form after his flight to visit the hippos.
"Well, fancy meeting you here. I've been dying to see you again.
You're a bit further south than the last time I saw you, I almost missed your arrival." The Avatar of the Death God declared.
"You have been waiting a very long time to use that line, haven't you?"
Dakkarian laughed. "I actually saw you not long ago in Zilaz, but you didn't notice my presence, as I was with old Azov."
"You're no spring chicken yourself. Not anymore. Congratulations on reaching Immortality."
Dakkarian's laugh startled the hippos, who gave him annoyed glares.
"Thanks. I don't think I've gotten congratulations on my advancement for twenty thousand years. I reached Immortality before Rue did, not even a decade after you left Gathuzan for the first time. Or was that most recent time?
I was talking with Bishop Misty, and she tried to explain, but you know how she is." The Avatar grumbled.
"Yeah, her version of the timeline is a bit hard to follow, and that's when she's not including possible alternates in her descriptions.
What brings you here today?"
"I sensed the Immortal Realm mana growing, more than the presence of these loveable balls of hunger and hatred could explain. I didn't realize that it was you until you came out of your separate space."
"And that's why you hid. So I would have to search for you."
"I've gotten quite good at hiding my presence.
There is a legend in the Immortal Realms that Death Walks Unseen. The pinnacle of skill for an Avatar of the Death God is to reap those who should be reaped without anyone else ever knowing that you were there.
So, I spent a few thousand years mastering the skill before I came back here when the previous Avatar passed away unexpectedly."
Karl frowned. "Is the Myth of the Kabtumia Continent not an Avatar? He's been there since the last resurgence."
Dakkarian shook his head. "He's actually a mage, not a Cleric. So, while he is highly favoured, he's not the Avatar."
Karl nodded as if that made sense. He wasn't a cleric, either.
"You know, we should likely move you to somewhere that's a bit less environmentally sensitive before the Tribulation hits. Is your Soul-Bonded partner ready to advance as well?"
Karl shrugged. "We were about to get to that part of the conversation when you showed up. Did you want to come visit?"
Dakkarian dismissed that notion with a wave. "I can't leave while Matilda is gone. It would upset the balance."
