Chapter 1599: Chun Gui (5)
"That Chun Gui is quite steady and calm, someone who can maintain a sense of composure. Most importantly, she sees things comprehensively—she's someone who can be relied upon. As for Chun Hua, she's very clever and kind-hearted, but she's too soft-hearted..." Yuan Mengzhu pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of each person. "However, Chun Chun is not someone who can keep herself in line—you'll need to watch her closely in the future..."
"Thank you, Godmother, I understand." Yang Ruxin smiled. Although her observations were similar, Godmother's evaluation was more thorough. With this, Yang Ruxin now had a clear idea of how to make use of these individuals.
The first person she needed to arrange for was Chun Gui. The work with the dolls was currently managed by Xuexue, but up until now, it had only been a small operation, merely supplying a set amount to the Wei Family every month. Xuexue could handle it with the help of Xiaoyun, but if the business was to expand, it would require a dependable shopkeeper.
Chun Gui was the one she planned to cultivate as the Store Manager for Xuexue.
After discussing it with her, Chun Gui was willing to learn and take on the responsibility.
"You don't know how to read or do accounting yet, but I can see that you have the ability to think smartly," Yang Ruxin said, looking at Chun Gui. "Among these people, you're the most stable, so I'll provide you with a platform to prove yourself. How far you can go will depend on your abilities." She paused for a moment and continued, "For the next three months, you'll start by learning in the general store. Follow Qian Er to study bookkeeping and shop management. The hotpot restaurant is next door, so when you have time, you can go over there to help. Learn from Uncle and Aunt Cheng, as well as Fofo. How much you can learn will ultimately depend on your own efforts."
Chun Gui knelt on the ground. "Thank you, Miss Ruxin. Please rest assured—I will dedicate myself to learning and will never let you down." She understood this was her chance—a chance to stand tall and live her life with dignity.
As for the others, they were assigned elsewhere. Two maids were placed with the Feng Family, even though Madam Feng had said she didn't need them. Having someone to cautiously attend to her gave Yang Ruxin peace of mind.
She decided to keep the most unsettled Chun Chun by her side, along with Chun Hua. After all, Du Juan and Du Man had serious responsibilities, and tasks like serving tea and fetching water would waste the talents of those two.
Chun Hua didn't mind; she simply followed the arrangements given by her mistress and focused on doing her job well.
However, Chun Chun was secretly thrilled—she knew how outstanding the young master was. A man like him, not to mention being a wife, even being a concubine, would have plenty of women lining up eagerly. Now that the Miss Ruxin had decided to keep her close, didn't that mean she might have a chance to become an Aunt someday? In her mind, the best path for a woman was to find a good man to marry. Of course, what defined a "good man" was subjective.
Others had noticed Chun Chun's restless ambition too, which left some confused by Yang Ruxin's decision—Chun Gui, for example.
She didn't rush to talk to Yang Ruxin about it but stayed in the county. Before parting ways, she pulled Chun Hua aside to remind her to keep an eye on Chun Chun and make sure she didn't do anything to betray their mistress.
Although Chun Hua was soft-hearted, she wasn't stupid. She had noticed some of Chun Chun's small schemes before, so Chun Gui's reminder made her nod in agreement. After all, only when their mistress thrived could they benefit as well.
"Right now, the young master isn't around, so things should stay calm for a while. However, I'll find an opportunity to speak with her," Chun Hua replied with a nod.
