Even though it was a rare occasion to stay overnight at her family home, Zhang Tianyi and his wife were both getting on in years, and with Zhang Tianyi still recovering, they needed to stick to their regular schedule, so they went to bed early. As for the three young people left behind, there wasn't much for them to do except listen to music and chat. Li Yan wasn't familiar with Jiang Xueyin, so he couldn't really engage in the conversation, and it was mostly the two of them chatting while Li Yan accompanied them.

Chatting with two young beauties was quite pleasing to the eye, and their sweet voices were also pleasant to the ear. However, after a short while, Li Yan found it rather dull.

"I'm going to take a shower first, you guys carry on," Li Yan announced.

Jiang Xueyin seemingly noticed his boredom and waved her hand, "Sorry, cousin-in-law, Yue Yao and I haven't had a proper chat in a long time. But I won't monopolize her all night; she'll still go to keep you company later!"

Yurong was a bit embarrassed, "Xueyin, what are you talking about?"

Keep company... who knows when she'll actually keep me company. Li Yan chuckled, "It's fine, Yurong's life is usually too monotonous, just working all the time. I'm happy you can chat with her. I'm easygoing, if you're not afraid of being tired, you can chat all night."

After speaking, he went upstairs. Although he hadn't stayed there before, he was familiar with Yurong's room since he hadn't just come here to eat every time.

Arriving at the room where Yurong used to stay, there were also pajamas prepared for him, though he'd never worn them. Li Yan took a shower, changed into the pajamas, and lay on the bed, beginning to imagine how romantic the night could be.

Since Jiang Xueyin promised not to occupy her all night, it would be awkward if she insisted on sharing the bed with her cousin, right?

Although the bed was large enough, if two people sleep together, they're bound to come into some contact, right?

Li Yan recalled that night when he woke up in Yurong's arms! What a pity, he slept so soundly that he was completely unaware, with no memory of the delightful night. If given the same opportunity tonight, he absolutely couldn't make the same mistake!

He was confident he wouldn't, because Yue Yao wasn't around this time, he wouldn't be too relaxed, and he was already filled with anticipation.

After waiting for a while in bed, Yurong hadn't returned to the room. Li Yan decided to get some sleep first. Since when she came back she'd still have to take a bath, which would take a bit of time, and would definitely wake him up. He could use this time to get some sleep and recharge, so he'd be more energetic tonight!

Although his heart was quite excited, Li Yan was well-trained in falling asleep, so he drifted off in no time.

He didn't know how long it had been, but it felt like only a short while when he heard the sound of the door opening; it was Yurong returning to the room. He immediately perked up a bit, but remembering she still needed to shower, he relaxed and went back to sleep.

When Yurong had finally finished showering and was slowly approaching the bed, Li Yan was already awake.

He knew Yurong was hesitating because last time she could safely sleep on the same bed with him knowing he was unconscious, but now she knew he was merely asleep. Sleeping and being unconscious are not the same; being asleep means he could wake up at any moment and who knows what he might do when awake...

However, considering this in advance, to allay Yurong's concerns, Li Yan positioned himself at the edge of the bed, close to the edge. The bed was large enough for three people, and he occupied less than a quarter, leaving the majority for Zhang Yurong. He believed with such sincerity, she could sense he had no intention of nighttime mischief.

Li Yan didn't have high expectations in this situation, it being her family home, he couldn't force her to do anything. Just sleeping beside her was already progress and satisfying. His concern now was if Yurong might leave for the guest room to find her cousin.

After a while, there was movement on the other side of the bed; Yurong was getting into bed on the other side. Like Li Yan, she kept to the edge, occupying only about a quarter of the bed, leaving the middle half empty.

This left Li Yan feeling a bit disappointed, internally sighing, Does she have to treat me like a lecher? If I were truly a lecher, with a lascivious heart, just a small distance wouldn't stop me. This is merely guarding against a gentleman!

Nevertheless, he was somewhat content. At least it was a good start. Getting into bed and sleeping together was a pretty good beginning. Tonight... heh heh, rolling around together, by tomorrow morning, they might end up rolled into each other!

Just as Li Yan was starting to expect Yurong to turn off the lights and sleep, he realized she seemed to have picked up a magazine to read, leaving him speechless.

What's the point of reading a magazine before bed?

I hate magazines!

If it were just a magazine, it might simply be a habit to help fall asleep to read for a while. But after Zhang Yurong had been reading for a bit, Li Yan heard knocking on the door!

In that instant, his heart sank; was Jiang Xueyin asking her to go sleep over there?
