The Female CEO Falls in Love with Me

Chapter 390] Requesting Monthly Pass

(Author's note: In the last chapter, a reader shared their interpretation of a certain passage with me, which surprised me as it was opposite to my intended meaning.

"Because for her, directly offending the director meant definitely losing her job. And at this point, even Li Yan couldn't help her..." This passage, I initially thought, was a joking out-of-context excerpt. But when he saw the page, the sentence starting from "and at this point, even Li Yan couldn't help her..." turned into a new paragraph. This brought a completely different meaning. Originally, Huang Ying thought this, but it turned into a third-person narrative! In my original manuscript, and on my V account, the page viewed was a continuous paragraph without being split into another.

Embarrassingly, I don't know what caused this, perhaps his font is larger than mine (therefore displaying fewer characters per line), possibly due to previously set VIP font size settings, causing the system to automatically split the paragraph. For those who are confused about this passage, you might want to look back and see if you saw it as one continuous paragraph. If it has also been split automatically, turning it into a different meaning, then more attention will be needed in understanding the context in the future. Just a reminder: PS: The above is not included in the charge range.)

The reason Chen Junwei, as a staff member, acted cautiously was because he sensed pressure from behind!

He had witnessed Li Yan's capability. Although in martial arts, Li Yan might not be his match, in a real confrontation, he believed he would definitely lose. The first time they clashed, his name tag was quietly snatched by Li Yan, who then joked that if he aimed for a vital spot, it would be over for him. The second time at the Prince Hotel rooftop, he even saw Li Yan throw someone off the building. However, killing and striking hard were not things he could do.

Therefore, when meeting Li Yan alone, Chen Junwei felt considerable pressure, estimating his intentions. Moreover, at this moment, he noticed another man exuding a dangerous aura approaching, which made him even more alert.

This person, naturally, was Duan Haibo.

Duan Haibo had just arrived. If it was an ordinary meeting, he might not have noticed Chen Junwei. Although Chen Junwei had practiced martial arts since childhood, he didn't exude a menacing or murderous aura. However, facing Li Yan now, he was fully focused and cautiously vigilant, and his posture and demeanor made Duan Haibo sense he was no ordinary person. He wondered if this was someone Li Yan wanted to deal with, and instantly developed an interest in having a fierce bout with him.

The aura of a professional mercenary made Chen Junwei feel the danger. Upon turning around, he also noticed that the newcomer was likely in cahoots with Li Yan, heightening his suspicions.

"Don't worry, he's a friend of mine, and we're not targeting you. If you don't want to make friends, then continue your work, and don't mind us," Li Yan spoke and gestured to Duan Haibo.

Chen Junwei hesitated slightly before turning around and leaving. Even if Li Yan wasn't targeting him, he had a premonition that something was about to happen because both previous encounters with this person weren't pleasant.

"Gone? Weren't you going to handle him?" Duan Haibo looked at Chen Junwei's back and licked his lips.

"He's unrelated, it was an accidental encounter," Li Yan poured him tea.

"That person seems to have some skills, I'd really like to play with him," Duan Haibo found it hard to gauge the depth of that person, becoming even more interested and motivated.

"No idea about his background. He seems like someone who has practiced martial arts since childhood. But for some reason, he likes mixing in hotels. This time he's a staff member. The last two times I saw him, he was working as a janitor in different hotels. Want to drink some alcohol?"

"Whatever," Duan Haibo was quite interested, "Perhaps, like us, he wants to live a simple life. But you're one step ahead. I mix in ordinary jobs, and you're in a company full of beauties."

"Yeah, we're just mixed."

Li Yan called over the female head waiter, ordered drinks, and asked Duan Haibo to add some dishes. While waiting for the dishes, he briefly explained to him what he needed help with today.

Duan Haibo loved his wife very much. Upon hearing Li Yan's explanation and knowing the reason was related to her, he was immediately enraged, "How dare they target my sister-in-law? Do you want me to take them out?"

Li Yan laughed, "If it were just about taking them out, why would I call you? I'm good at that!"

"True enough, I get it now. You want to teach them a lesson without going too far. No issue, leave it to me!"

"Mainly two people. I'll handle one, but the other someone we both know, so I'll need you to step in."

"No problem!"

...

The two of them ate outside and drank alcohol while Li Yan stayed in contact with Huang Ying inside the private room via phone. They were still in a public setting, and there were many people, both men and women, in there. The only concern was that someone might use the opportunity to get Huang Ying drunk and not directly cause her harm in there.

After estimating the time, Li Yan had Huang Ying use the excuse of going to the restroom.

A while later, the door to the private room opened, and Huang Ying indeed came out. Her face was flushed red, clearly indicating that she had already been coaxed into drinking in that short span. After coming out, she looked around and, as instructed by Li Yan, headed toward the restroom.

Both Li Yan and Duan Haibo kept their eyes fixed in that direction. Soon, two men came out, whispering and laughing, yet following Huang Ying's direction, also heading towards the restroom.
