The Female CEO Falls in Love with Me

Chapter 3, Requesting Monthly Passes

Li Yan, sweating profusely, hurriedly fled from Wen Qianyi's home.

Seeing Wen Qianyi's appearance, he knew she didn't know how to face the situation at the moment, staying would only make her feel very awkward, and in turn make everyone awkward. Her scream and reproach were a way to deescalate, both of them needed to calm down a bit.

Watching Li Yan leave, the previously fierce-looking Wen Qianyi powerlessly collapsed onto the sofa, not caring about the oil stains on her back that could dirty the sofa.

She took a breath, then scratched her hair, and with a self-mocking smile said to herself, "What a mess..."

The lingering effects of what just happened hadn't left, making it hard for her to think calmly. Helplessly, she simply closed her eyes. After all, it was her first kiss, which she had preserved for 25 years. Over the years, countless men wanted to get a taste, but she hadn't been interested in any of them. Li Yan's conditions were only average, his personality was only a bit above average, and they had only been working together for two months. She hadn't expected him to clumsily take her first kiss!

Wen Qianyi was different from Yu Xiaodi, not only because she was a few years older, more mature, and rational, but also because of her work, which made her, unknowingly, calculate gains and losses even when facing emotions. Of course, she was not materialistic, as she earned enough to give herself a good life. The gain and loss calculation wasn't just about money or material things. It was a subconscious instinct as a business elite!

A business, a project, a client, for her, and business elites like her, relationships were intangible, merely icing on the cake; profit was key. In choosing between acquaintances and those who could bring greater benefits to the company, they would always choose the latter. This wasn't just about the personal reward and commission, but a professional ethic and competence at this level.

This was also why, upon reviewing her resume, Ye Jiahong gave her priority for hiring. He wasn't like Li Yan or Sun Hui, drawn by Wen Qianyi's beauty. She was a professional talent. Ye Jiahong himself was the same. To Li Yan, he was undoubtedly a sleazy person, making fun of Li Yan, being deceitful, and wanting Li Yan to handle Hai Fu, but in terms of professionalism, he deserved his position as a business director.

For people like that, "calculating gains and losses" had become instinctual. Was Ye Jiahong truly foolish for being extorted by Li Yan for tens of thousands in PR fees? Certainly not. In his mind, as long as Li Yan could solve the Hai Fu problem, removing it as an obstacle, he would have a greater chance to pursue Zhang Yurong. Compared to this return, an investment of tens of thousands was negligible.

Wen Qianyi was similar. She definitely didn't fall for Li Yan at first sight. Their first meeting went well because his impromptu interview question was unlike the usual formal or self-claimed creative HR questions; it genuinely touched upon business ideas. At the dinner meeting later, his attitude piqued her curiosity.

Later, she found out he wasn't from HR, but just a connected loafer in the business department. Wen Qianyi didn't believe this. For someone who calculated gains and losses with every decision, how could they go out of their way to mentor someone seemingly useless after just two meetings? At that time, she thought Li Yan was a person disguising his worthlessness, enjoying life leisurely. So she insisted on him joining as a partner.

After genuine interaction, she found out this guy was truly lazy, not a master of disguise, which made her doubt her initial judgment. But they got along fine, their personalities clicked, and thought he had potential, so she accepted him as a partner.

Li Yan's relationship with Zhang Yurong hadn't progressed much over months because they were "dawn-to-dusk" - only seeing each other briefly in the morning and evening, with no chance for interaction or communication. So when spending evenings with clients and staying together at the Prince Hotel, their relationship began to advance.

But with Wen Qianyi? It was a different kind of "dawn-to-dusk," spending at least eight hours together each day. Just in terms of actual time together, the two months with her wouldn't be shorter than his half-year with Zhang Yurong. Moreover, only the two of them occupied the office, and when away, it was just the two of them. Such an environment and interaction foster closeness quickly. They shared interests, drank together, etc. Without any pressure or constraints, it's only natural for feelings to develop between a man and a woman.

Why do actors often develop feelings while filming? Besides deliberately hyped scandals, it's mostly for similar reasons. Spending months in the same environment, working, living, eating together, and entertaining. Young, unmarried individuals are bound to feel something for each other. Generally, under managers' supervision and company warnings, these feelings only result in rumors. Without such constraints and with one side formally pursuing the other, they're likely to develop into real relationships.

Wen Qianyi, being rational, and Li Yan, because of Zhang Yurong, only felt mutual attraction, with emotions accumulating and heating up, but neither confessed nor pursued the other formally. Therefore, they remained amicable partners, and given the short two-month timeframe, hardly anyone considered it further, including them.

That was until Yu Xiaodi's misunderstanding was exposed. At that time, Yu Xiaodi believed that Li Yan had a secret crush on Wen Qianyi, thinking the supposed 'wife' in his heart was Wen Qianyi. Confidently, she aimed to win him over with her deep love, informing her former tutor and initiating a friendly competition agreement.

After that, even though Wen Qianyi behaved the same as before, hearing from others that this man beside her had a crush on her inevitably sparked her imagination.

No matter what happened before, what should she do now?

This was the issue now before Wen Qianyi. She remained rational, even after losing her first kiss. She closed her eyes repeatedly replaying the event, engraving it deeply in her memory, so regardless of the outcome, it would be a significant memory for her.

Gradually calming down, she began pondering how to face Li Yan. After what happened, could they interact as usual? If not, was it time to distance themselves, or...

She also thought of Yu Xiaodi, recalling her "Tutor Wen," her shared competition, her words, and tears from last night.

"Stealing someone else's man is naturally wrong, but if a man loves her wholeheartedly and the woman doesn't cherish him, who can she blame? Hmph! Don't think I don't know. In your eyes, Li Yan is just a poor little employee not worthy of liking you successful women! I like him. I think he's great. I won't let you ruin him!"

Yu Xiaodi's words left a deep impression not only on Zhang Yurong, Yue Yao, and Li Yan, but on Wen Qianyi as well.

Have I always remained indifferent because of this?

Wen Qianyi felt a bit confused.

...

After leaving Wen Qianyi's house, Li Yan, fearing running into Hai Fu's possible return, didn't dare take the elevator and instead ran down the stairs. When he reached his car, he discovered something quite unfortunate.

After all, Wen Qianyi's attempt was to push against his forehead, not firmly intending to kiss. So when Li Yan leaned in for the kiss, Wen Qianyi was momentarily dazed, and even though he wasn't, he still got hurt.

Li Yan drove off, secretly smiling bitterly, contemplating how to explain to Zhang Yurong and Yue Yao later if they asked. Fortunately, it was only a bit swollen, without any bitten skin or teeth impressions, otherwise, it would have been obvious it was a kiss injury.

Well… didn't I just have KFC? I'll say I worked late today, got too hungry, and grabbed something at KFC, and ended up scalded by a freshly baked egg tart...

After work, Li Yan immediately drove to Wen Qianyi's place, and leaving now heading home, the skies were gradually darkening.

He was still driving fast, treating his small QQ car as if it was a Mercedes, but when he approached the spot from last night, he unconsciously slowed down. This spot, familiar due to many incidents, after finding Yu Xiaodi there last night, had somewhat improved his perception of it, previously seen as accident-prone.

Unfortunately, before he could fully indulge in these feelings, the accident-prone area began to reveal its true nature once again!

Though he slowed down, two cars from behind sped up to charge towards him, and two more blocked the road horizontally in front!

Li Yan's driving skills weren't bad, but with a small-engine car, leaping over cars in front wasn't feasible.

Seeing he's about to collide, he decisively slammed on the brakes, halting the car, while his mind raced. He didn't have many enemies; this wasn't another playful stunt like Yu Xiaodi's. This was premeditated, but who? He could easily guess the identity.

Once he stopped, people started getting out of the cars in front, while the rear cars closed in. Suddenly, Li Yan exited his car, sprinting to the side.

The vacant lot to the side, where he ran last night searching for Yu Xiaodi, wasn't something he was thoroughly familiar with, but fighting would be preferable than facing a group blocking him on the street.

"Big Boss Chen! He's trying to escape!" someone whispered inside one of the cars.

"Why panic? We have people on both sides". (To be continued. To know what happens next, please log in to www.qidian.com. More chapters available, support the author, and read legitimate!)
