The Female CEO Falls in Love with Me

Chapter 270: Third Update, Requesting Monthly Pass

Sitting with Hai Fu for breakfast, neither of them said much. Hai Fu ate very slowly, savoring this rare, cozy breakfast.

Li Yan didn't eat much breakfast, but he consumed quite a bit of news with his eyes.

Breakfast took quite some time, and in the end, Hai Fu cleaned up everything and made tea for Li Yan, then sat beside him.

"So, do you have any plans for the day?" Hai Fu was hopeful that Li Yan could spend the whole day with her. Although she was already very satisfied this morning, people always have higher expectations.

Li Yan noticed her mood, so he stayed with her through breakfast. But he still needed to deliver tickets to Huang Ying and wasn't sure if she had a part-time job on Sunday. So, hearing her question, he said apologetically, "I have things to do during the day, so in a bit I will..."

Actually, Hai Fu understood that if he wasn't very busy today, he wouldn't have asked her to come over tonight. So, although a little disappointed, she could understand.

"It's okay. You go ahead with your plans. I'll head over tonight, I promise to be on time so you won't have to wait long."

Hearing Hai Fu's words, Li Yan squeezed her hand.

Knowing he was about to leave, Hai Fu cherished the moment even more. Suddenly remembering something, she leaned closer and asked softly, "Did you book a room at a nearby hotel last night?"

Li Yan chuckled, "Come on, it's not like I'm always thinking about that. I swear I was well-behaved last night."

"Really?" Hai Fu suddenly smiled alluringly, showing her mature side, and whispered, "Then let me reward you..."

Watching her lips move, Li Yan's heart fluttered, reminiscing about their last encounter in her office. Skills do need practice to improve. But he truly had no time or mood for this today, so he said seriously, "Sister Fu, don't overthink. I don't have that intention, but I really have things to do today. You should rest at home, I'll get going now!"

Hai Fu didn't expect her initiative to be refused, slightly surprised but then she understood, realizing his sincerity wasn't about pleasing her, and felt comforted and even a little hopeful. Does this mean he sees me as more than just a passing thought?

"Alright, see you tonight!" Hai Fu didn't linger, and saw him out the door.

After leaving, Li Yan, worried about running into Wen Qianyi in the elevator, decided against it, and hurried downstairs via the stairs. He carefully checked his surroundings and, not seeing Qianyi, quickly left the community, feeling a bit like he was sneaking around.

Having gotten some distance away, he finally hailed a taxi. He was able to breathe a sigh of relief. It seemed that juggling between two relationships was indeed a high-skilled task, a slip could easily lead to being caught. But the greater the difficulty, the keener he was to challenge it. Besides, he didn't even have a stable 'ship' to begin with, so what was there to fear?

Among the three tickets given out, only Yuxiaodi was within his expectations. Wen Qianyi was not only beyond his control but also startled him, nearly causing him to give up halfway; and Hai Fu's attitude also surprised him. Why would she be so touched over just buying her breakfast?

There was still much he didn't understand about women's thoughts, guessing it wasn't the breakfast but rather the sincerity shown by being there early in the morning. Hai Fu's subtle hints afterward made him realize something — if you want others to treat you well, the best approach is to treat them well first.

...

While on the road, he called Huang Ying. Figuring her character, she should answer immediately, but unexpectedly, the phone rang for a while without being picked up, and after waiting a bit longer, the call was cut!

Thanks to the mischievous prank by Wen Qianyi last night, Li Yan's first thought was, could she be on a date with another guy? But he quickly dismissed it with logic; Huang Ying wasn't that type of person. If she hung up on him, there had to be a reason.

Could something have happened? Growing a bit worried, he urged the driver to go faster, his destination being Huang Ying's rental community.

He couldn't help her with anything at the moment, couldn't see her situation, and couldn't do anything but worry. The car couldn't fly, and helplessly, he quickly composed a text message, sending it to ask if she was okay.

This was partly due to Li Yan's occupational side-effect. For an ordinary person, a missed call might just mean it was inconvenient to pick up, and they'd call back later. But what was his other identity? Assassin! The experiences of Yuxiaodi, Nian Yufei, and even Zhang Yurong being blocked by Zhang Jing; even Shinohara Mirai, a recent acquaintance, had encountered danger.

So for him, any unusual occurrences needed verification. If he couldn't confirm something was fine, it likely wasn't.

Soon, he received a text back from Huang Ying: "I'm fine."

This relieved him a bit, but the soundless nature of texts left room for impersonation. If someone had her phone, a call might expose them, but a text could easily be faked!

As he was about to write another message for further inquiry, Huang Ying's second text arrived.

"I'm in class, can't take calls right now, will call you later."

In class? This left Li Yan speechless, wondering what class Huang Ying was attending. Had she given her phone to her brother?

But that didn't make sense! Her brother was in college and shouldn't have class on a Sunday.

"Tell me the address, I'll come see you." Li Yan amended his inquiry message and sent it.

Before the taxi arrived, he got Huang Ying's reply. Li Yan showed the location to the driver, asking to be taken there.

The place she was attending class was closer than her residence, and soon the driver dropped him off. Realizing what this was, Li Yan understood: it turned out to be this kind of class!

This was a training center for accountants, suggesting that although Huang Ying hadn't gone for a part-time job, she wasn't idle on Sundays, diligently upgrading her skills.

...

As the ancient saying goes, "Misfortune may be a blessing in disguise, blessings may hide within misfortune." The severe illness of Huang Ying's mother was undoubtedly a huge blow to her, to their ordinary family. Though things turned for the better later, thanks to Li Yan's referral to He Zhengyuan with the Mortal Fund handling the major issue, psychologically, it was a massive ordeal for Huang Ying and her brother.

But as the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining, and adversity often confirms this. The harsh realities of life, while disheartening, also aid in their growth!

If not for the severe illness, her brother attended college, and she worked at a well-paying major company. To Huang Ying, it would be a time to relax, with household burdens lightening, anticipating gradual improvement. She could comfortably work, gradually learning fashion, dating, like so many others.

However, after the health crisis, even though her mother got a chance to live, the subsequent treatment and recovery needed money. Her brother might not find a suitable job right after graduation, joining the ranks of unemployed fresh graduates, becoming another burden. So the previously carefree Huang Ying, after recovering from the ordeal, began to grow and found merit in Li Yan's words — relying on a man wasn't a long-term solution, starting to plan her future afresh. Staying comfortable in her current job wasn't her aim, thus self-studying for an accountant certification was a step.

Today being a Sunday, she was in class, with her phone set to vibrate, generally expecting only her brother to contact her. Seeing it was Li Yan, she was surprised, remembering his leave request. But being in class made it inconvenient to take the call, leading to her cutting it off.

Unexpectedly, Li Yan quickly texted, appearing worried for her, warming her heart. She quietly texted him, ultimately revealing the location under his insistence.

She was a diligent student, a good one even during college, and though she left campus recently, fueled by future aspirations, attending a few classes with enthusiasm. But Li Yan's contact puzzled her, particularly after providing him with the address. She constantly pondered whether he'd really come to see her? Why would he come? Could he suspect I'm secretly meeting another guy, hence rushing to verify?

Distracted by these thoughts, staring at her workbook, she was completely unaware until her name was called by the teacher.

Startled, Huang Ying stood up, facing the teacher, oblivious to the recent question asked.

"Leave the room."

Huh? Getting distracted would get her kicked out? Was this self-paid training or elementary school? Doubting her ears, she looked around.

Her fellow trainees seemed to consider this reasonable, with no one sympathizing with her.

"Hurry up!"

The teacher's urging prompted Huang Ying to bow her head and exit, feeling wronged — did she appear easy to bully? A mere example?

Just stepping outside, tears couldn't be held back, flowing down her cheeks. Even when life was tough, she held back tears, but this was simply unfair! Being a consistent good student, she never imagined being removed from a classroom post-graduation as mortifying.

"Huang Ying, who bullied you? I'll deal with them!"

Seeing Li Yan suddenly appear, Huang Ying was stunned, hurriedly using the back of her hand to dry her tears. "Li Yan? How did you... arrive this fast..."

She was attending class properly, who bullied her? It didn't seem like she was tearing up from being touched... Li Yan instantly understood, whispering, "Are you crying because my visit here embarrassed you?"
