The Female Cannon Fodder With Boundless Merits

Chapter 948: Huo Wei's Love (6)

Han Zixuan asked blankly, "Where to?"

Su Li didn't beat around the bush and said directly, "To pick up the babies."

Han Zixuan hurriedly stopped her, "You're so impulsive. Your health isn't too good...."

Su Li firmly interrupted, "Alright, I feel much better now."

Han Zixuan pressed his lips tightly, not knowing what to say to stop Su Li.

The excuses that always worked before were no longer usable.

Evidently, Han Zixuan didn't quite understand the effects of the medicines either.

He absolutely hadn't tried them personally, so under Su Li's reckless probing, he accepted the fact of Su Li's great health improvement.

In reality, drinking all these medicines was indeed beneficial to the original owner's body, but claiming full recovery was unrealistic.

In terms of real progress, these diluted medicines, when all consumed, only brought about a recovery level of about thirty percent.

A few more doses might lead to a rapid recovery.

However, there's still a long-term period of weakness in the body, unlike Su Li who can eat a lot in one meal and has a rosy complexion.

Not only Han Zixuan failed to understand the true effects of the medicines, but others in the courtyard didn't understand either. Still, they were aware of the medicines' existence, and even knew some of their effects and preciousness.

Han Zixuan wasn't exactly a talkative man; the original owner used to have a weak temperament and wholeheartedly trusted and relied on him, allowing him to have the final say.

But now that it was Su Li, after a few more words, she managed to render Han Zixuan speechless.

"Come on, it's been ages since I've seen the babies, I miss them so much."

"No way." Han Zixuan blurted out anxiously.

"Why not?"

"Because, because it's inconvenient right now...."

Han Zixuan was extremely distressed, it felt like he had only been out for a few days, but his wife seemed to have changed into a different person, becoming so difficult.

Thinking quickly to avoid further questions from Su Li, Han Zixuan said, "On the weekend, I'll bring the two kids back for you to see."

"They're living well in foster care right now, a sudden visit might seem impolite."

This weak reason barely gained Su Li's approval.

She regretfully said, "Alright."

Turning around and facing away from Han Zixuan, Su Li could perceive Han Zixuan's furtive gesture of wiping cold sweat from his forehead.

Pouting dissatisfiedly, she thought: This man's psychological resilience is really weak.

With such quality, he dares to have bad intentions in front of me; really nobody else could.

Lunch at the Han Family's was still prepared by Han Zixuan.

On the surface, Han Zixuan seemed to have elevated his wife-pampering skills to a new height, and compared to others around who had their wives handling everything, Su Li seemed incredibly lucky.

All she needed to do was lazily nestle in the armchair at home.

Truly not lifting a finger, making others envious.

Su Li expressed that, with the best laborer right beside her, it's a waste not to use him, and expecting her to cook is absolutely impossible, not in this lifetime.

In the Han Family's cupboards, apart from some sweet snacks, there was a big bag of sunflower seeds.

In just half a day, Su Li had polished off all these items.

Grabbing the last handful of sunflower seeds, she leisurely wandered into the small kitchen, leaning against the doorway like a foreman, watching Han Zixuan cook lunch.

This morning, Han Zixuan had gone out again, returning with a big bag of food and a large piece of pork belly.

"Hey, Zixuan...." Su Li scattered a handful of sunflower seed shells on the ground, clapped away the residue from her hands, and with hands on her hips commanded, "Cook the remaining meat too, and the white rice and flour, make it all. I feel like the amount you've prepared....isn't quite enough."

Han Zixuan: "Ah...." That's their food for a week.

Seeing Han Zixuan not moving, Su Li rolled up her sleeves, poised to act herself.

The good husband couldn't possibly let his wife do the work herself, absolutely not.

Before Su Li could get closer, Han Zixuan snapped back to reality, wielding the kitchen knife to chop the meat, putting the rice in the pot, and preparing the flour....

"Cook all the eggs in the basket too. I didn't have enough for breakfast, and now I'm starving."

Su Li, like a demanding landlord's wife, bossily directed the laborer while remaining dissatisfied.

"Oh right, remember to sweep up the sunflower seeds shells on the ground."

Han Zixuan felt like the world was collapsing: Had his wife been replaced?

Could it be that her health improved, but the side effects were this severe?

After making Han Zixuan run around, Su Li wandered off again.

In the courtyard, friendly neighbors were also starting to cook, but....

This morning, Su Li hadn't seen how they were cooking, but now strolling past each household to inspect, she discovered a problem.

They were all clumsy, unable to even light the stove properly, being immensely choked by the smoke.

"Zhenzhen, what delicious food are you cooking for lunch?" Su Li smiled and approached.

Yu Zhenzhen raised a soot-covered face, suppressing her annoyance, and said, "Dumpling soup. Old Qin received his salary today, so it's a bit luxurious."

Su Li glanced at the burlap sack beside Yu Zhenzhen.

What a coincidence, the food bag Han Zixuan brought back was identical to the one at Yu Zhenzhen's house.

Moreover, it was the same as those of several other households in the courtyard.

Their organization even allocated food distribution? That's quite a decent welfare.

"Xiao Wei, come have a meal at the courtyard later, eat with everyone for more fun." Yu Zhenzhen suddenly rolled her eyes and warmly invited Su Li.

Lately, she often took some food from the original owner to eat.

Su Li quickly linked it to the overheard conversation in the morning where Yu Zhenzhen mentioned their organization would no longer have additional supplies, guessing she might know the news earlier than the others and started preparing in advance?

Seeing Yu Zhenzhen clumsily start cooking with a small handful of flour, Su Li withdrew.

Returning home, Han Zixuan had already prepared a table full of sumptuous lunch.

Han Zixuan seemed hesitant to speak, but Su Li didn't care, extending her hand like the Empress Dowager, having him place the bowls and chopsticks in her palm, then began eating without a care.

She ate with elegance, but incredibly fast.

By the time Han Zixuan turned around to place his own bowls and chopsticks, most of the food was already in Su Li's stomach.

Han Zixuan looked at the tiny bit of soup left in his bowl, speechless with emotion.

Su Li extended her chopsticks and looked at Han Zixuan pitifully, "But I'm still not full..."

Han Zixuan silently withdrew his hand holding his chopsticks, reluctantly saying, "You can finish the rest."

"Alrighty!" Su Li excitedly finished off the last bits of soup.

Then she rubbed her flat stomach, stood up, patted Han Zixuan's shoulder, and encouraged, "Zixuan, now that I'm eating so much, you better work hard, or you won't be able to support me, go for it!"
