The Fake Daughter is the Hidden Bigshot

Chapter 19: Wang Qian

After reveling in the good news for a while, Ming Yue stood up to leave from the back door to get some take out for her lunch.

[Host... didn't you say you didn't want to be in the entertainment industry? And there's sooooooo much more gossip at other places too.]

Yet Ming Yue decisively ignored her inhumane system.

Anyways, she had a clear conscience!

It was the damned system's fault for not telling her about no food in this house!

Thus, she chose to ignore it as she walked around, eating bao, barbeque, and a serving of vegetables alongside a chicken soup at a street vendor.

Suddenly, a man wearing a flamboyant red jacket came over, half leaning as he said with a wide smile.

"Hey girl, wanna go for a ride?"

It was clear he was hitting on her but the old and fairly mature passers-by just ignored it.

It wasn't their first time seeing a girl being approached and most of the times, it was better not to interfere too much for their own good.

However, what stunned them was the girl's complete ignorance for the man.

'Wow, how come this tastes so good?'

Ming Yue's mind was busy thinking over how could such a small shop, which could not even serve more than 4 or 6 customers at a time have food taste so good?

"Uncle, why aren't you famous yet?"

She accidentally blurted out her thoughts as she relished in the last bite, ignoring the arrogant boy who believed she was playing hard to get.

[Men and their narcissism, heh!]

The system snickered, but didn't deem it necessary to remind Ming Yue as she had been the one ignoring it.

"Haha. There's no need to be so polite, kid," the man in his forties or fifties said, hoping to help the girl and understanding her calling for help.

He too was a father and could relate to her plight as such clingy men with their delusions were indeed hard to throw off.

He had been working for too long to see such scenes and thus, he even recognised the boy.

Earlier, he didn't plan to interfere, but since the girl seemed to have indirectly asked for his help, how could he stoop so low to refuse?

"Uncle, tell me your name, I swear to help you open up a shop!" Ming Yue said directly as she needed the name to ask her system for the exact gossips.

Otherwise, she could glance surface-level gossip or if the system deemed it interesting enough, it could bypass some plots and directly enlighten her with fresh and juicy melons.

"Haha, little one, this one is named Wang Qian, but just call me Lao(老/Lǎo, meaning old) Wang."

"Alright, Lao Wang," Ming Yue called out in one go without any hesitation whatsoever, stunning the old man.

He really didn't expect to see such a friendly little girl.

Just then, he heard the most absurd thing and finally realised that this girl wasn't asking for help and truly meant what she said! It warmed his old heart a little.

"Huh? Who are you? And why are you standing here?"

Ming Yue finally noticed the boy dressed in a flamboyant red biker's jacket and gray pants with a black tee underneath and a piercing on his left ear.

He was stunned and was planning on letting her know her lesson after she ignored him, but the sincerity of her tone and genuine expression puzzled him.

No matter how delusional he was, he couldn't come up with a reason for her behaviour at the moment.

Alas, he also couldn't accept the truth.

"Hmpmh! Let's see how long you can act!"

With that, he left and leaned on his 'stylish' bike, acting aloof.

'What kind of fool is this guy?' Ming Yue couldn't help but think, not realising she indeed didn't care about such an idiot.

Meanwhile, her system that had seen the process from start to finish was left truly speechless.

It couldn't react fast enough for some reason.

'System, find out gossip about Lao Wang for me.'

But Ming Yue got no response so she reiterated, 'System? System, where are you?'

[Oh, oh...]

Finally it reacted after puzzling Ming Yue for a few seconds only.

[Lao Wang, or Wang Qian is an honest man. There's really nothing much worth saying about him except one thing.]

'Huh? So? Say it, what are we waiting for?'

[...Well...]

The system really didn't understand what kind of weird host it got.

How did it change from a gossip system to information system??

But at least the host was excited to talk with it and seemed kind-hearted, though, that evaluation may have to change in the future.

[He was actually one of the few rising chefs back in his culinary college with his master liking him a lot and wanting to make him his heir. However, his senior got jealous and contrived a plan to get him involved with their master's daughter...]

The rest was easy to guess.

Infuriated, his master kicked him out, and he lost everything, only able to become a small street vendor while his senior became the heir.

[Not exactly. The chef's daughter had long liked Wang Qian and the senior had once tried chasing her to get closer to inheriting their master's skills, only to get heartlessly rejected, so he felt angry and chose her...]

'What the hell?? Is that even sane! He couldn't accept rejection and did such a horrible thing! Damn scum!'

If it were up to Ming Yue, she'd want to definitely teach him a lesson.

However, she was quickly distracted by the next fresh wave of gossip.

[However, the master was smart and knew his daughter's and Wang Qian's character, so he played the fool after calming down and never called them back until...]

The system paused as if wanting to wait before unleashing a major cliffhanger.

However, it only irked Ming Yue.

'Damn system!! Melons are only tasty when eaten fresh, so what's with this sweet and sour feeling?'

She reallly didn't understand how this system functioned and could continue on.

[Ahem, anyways, their master has been supporting the two of them, but neither knew it was him as he did so anonymously and didn't linger for too long or sent others.]

'Fine, fine, what happened to the senior and until when did he play the fool?'
