Chapter 145: Two Tear Contract

"Alright, thank you all for coming here," Raze's voice cut through the air. He stood at the center of the town square, with a table beside him, Ella and Elaine seated there as well with a stack of papers in front of them.

"As you all know, we have concluded a major part of things when it comes to the renovation of our town, but there is a whole lot more to be done.

To say the least, Ribest is only at five percent of where I need it to be."

His words shocked the townspeople. They were currently living better than they could have ever imagined, and now Raze was saying that there was more to do? What more could they possibly need to do now?

Raze looked at the expressions on the faces of everyone and a smile formed on his face. "Today, we will be creating Ribest's first ever large-scale ultra farm, owned by the town to provide for the town and more.

This place lacks everything food; everything here is ultimately bland and tiresome, and so I have decided I'm not having any of that anymore. I'm going to make a lot of real food and show you all that you have been eating disgusting low-quality shit," he said without any filter.

"Now, before you get mad that I am insulting your food, I just want to say one thing: I do not give a care in your world, because it is not good." He yelled. They all looked at him, wondering what new level of madness had descended on their young master.

Of course, they all knew that their food was low quality and they were barely managing it at this point.

"The farm is going to start from outside the town's wall and spread all the way close to the forest, and it will go in a circle around the town.

Now I honestly can't give you all the details on how to do every tiny thing, but I have a solution for that, and that brings us to the contracts." He said, then pointed at the table.

"Before you now are two different contracts, each one vastly different from the last. One is a standard contract that will last until the first phase of the farm is done, and you can reclaim your freedom after that.

The pay is standard, but you will have to do what you are told, have no general say, and your input is not needed whatsoever. You'll also lose out on every prime incentive that will be present, which is not limited to but includes a certain percentage of the harvest being given to you for free." He explained.

When they heard that, they were shocked with how many shop restrictions they had; it was like Raze was intentionally trying to make the first contract unlikeable, and that was exactly what he was doing.

"Now to the second: that's a two-year contract, yes, two years, and it details you have to work for me for two years straight, no breaking out until the time is done."

"Huh, isn't that just slavery?" one of the townsmen asked.

"Huh?" Raze responded, his face twisting like that of a gangster trying to extort money. "The hell did you just say?" he asked.

The man subconsciously took a step back, waving his hands fast. "Nothing, nothing, young master, I said nothing," he said.

"Tsk, you think I would throw you all into a job without proper incentives? What the hell do you take me for?" Raze asked.

"I'm sorry, young master, I shouldn't have said such," the man said.

"Hmm, you are sorry? You'll show your apology by choosing the second contract and not the first." He said, then scanned the area. "Robert!" he yelled.

"Yes, young master," Robert replied from inside the crowd.

"Make sure he takes the two-year contract," Raze said, and then continued what he was saying about the contract.

"The two-year contract, despite being long, is packed with enough incentives. Your pay is a full ten percent greater than what the first contract offers, with one full break day a month. Full medical coverage—any injuries during work are covered here.

You'll also be getting access to what I believe everyone should have: reading lessons." As he said those last lines, the look on everyone's face changed. Reading lessons?

Them? Complete nobodies? Commoners getting the opportunity to read? That alone was more incentive than they would ever need. Immediately over ninety percent of them decided the second contract was the way.

"And that's not limited to you. Every person that takes the two-year contract will have their child enrolled into the first ever Ribest academy.

An academy that will not only teach reading and writing, but history, and a lot more to add.

In all honesty, the two contracts are simply me asking you: do you wish to just make money from Ribest, or do you wish to be a part of Ribest?

If you choose the first, there is no judgment to you whatsoever; you'll be a citizen no matter what. But if you choose the second, you are what I consider a part of my family as a whole.

So now, everyone can make their choice and sign a contract," he ended with a smile.

'Making everyone feel like family, that's the best way to cultivate a working environment I can push to the max, hahaha, hehe,' Raze thought as the smile hung on his face.

"You gave that smile again," Elaine said.

Meanwhile, at that very same time, Raze was on the back of Fey, riding through the forest at top speed.

"So what do you plan to do when you find her?" Fey asked.

"Mostly talk. I want to know who sent her, and also know what she is. I can tell that she isn't human at all, and it has gotten me curious," Raze replied.

"The location is far from the town. Can you exist being so far from your original?" Fey asked.

"I told you this already: I am Raze, and the Raze back there now is Raze, so there is no distance barrier between us."
