The Extra Villain's Second Chance: A Hero's System

Chapter 65 - Private Audience pt. 3

Apart from the two possibilities Lev mentioned, there was one noble in the Dragomirov Kingdom that he knew had been in contact with the Tianxia Dynasty. Moreover, that nobleman's territory was adjacent to his family's territory—now it had become his family's former territory.

That noble was Marquess Zelezar.

Lev was certain that Marquess Zelezar was the one behind the people who had ambushed him earlier.

Why could he be sure?

Because, as usual, he knew about the true background of a noble family named Zelezar.

In short, Marquess Zelezar was connected to the Tianxia Dynasty.

The information he got about the Zelezar family was not from the Hero's Destiny novels, but purely from his past life.

In his past life, a few months before the Razanov family was destroyed by Andrei, who was caught connected with a demon, Marquess Zelezar raised the flag of war against the Razanov family.

At first, Lev didn't know why Marquess Zelezar had raised the war flag, but then he realized that Marquess Zelezar had taken something from a place in the Razanov family's territory.

After taking the thing, which Lev himself did not know, Marquess Zelezar fled to the Tianxia Dynasty.

"We, as soldiers guarding the Razanov Family's territory, thought that we would lose the war. However, who would have thought that we'd get the information that Marquess Zelezar had simply left for the Tianxia Dynasty, leaving his soldiers behind?"

Such words came from the soldiers who fought alongside Lev against the demons after the world entered the demon invasion phase.

It was from the conversations Lev used to have with many such soldiers that Lev managed to gather information.

"We thought the war was over after Marquess Zelezar fled, but who would have thought that the war still continued until the entire kingdom was wiped out. Even Duke Andrei was caught connected with a demon. I, along with my fellow soldiers, decided to become deserters."

Not long after Marquess Zelezar's departure, Andrei was killed by Vladislav for being connected to a demon.

'Perhaps it was because of the war that Andrei was discovered. Given Andrei's nature, he must have been afraid of losing the war, so he chose to supply more humans as sacrificial lambs,' Lev thought to himself. Perhaps because of that, Vladislav could immediately go to the Razanov family mansion and kill Andrei.

"Don't you want to protest my decision to confiscate all the land your family owns?" Vladislav asked.

After Lev's mind had long wandered to the past, Vladislav's question managed to pull his mind's focus to the present.

"Are you joking, Your Majesty? How could I possibly object to the fair decision you have made? However, I find it quite curious. Will the royal family be able to take all the lands of my family's former territory?"

Upon hearing Lev's question, Vladislav suddenly pressed his temples as if he had suddenly felt dizzy.

"There's no need to discuss that. Your question is giving me a headache." Then he continued with a small mutter, "Those damn old nobles! They scramble to get the most as soon as they know there's good food."

Although Vladislav did not seem to want to tell Lev about the details of the distribution of his family's former territory, Vladislav suddenly informed Lev that he had sent someone competent enough to manage his family's former territory.

"As for your older sister, who has been managing your family's territory, I heard that she has gone to Baron Hobskin's territory, where her husband is."

Although Lev had suddenly received the news about his older sister, his main focus wasn't on that. Of course, he still smiled when he heard the news about his older sister.

"In other words, you haven't completely shared my family's former territory, right?"

"Do you realize that your question right now is rude? If I didn't feel like I was talking to an old man, I'd probably have kicked you out by now." Vladislav watched Lev's face and body while squinting.

Lev was confused about whether to be happy or not when he was given a sentence stating that he looked like an old man, whether it was from the tone of his speech, the choice of words, or the way his body moved now.

Despite his impertinent question, he received confirmation from Vladislav that his former family's territory had still not been divided up among the other nobles.

"If I hadn't received a letter from Duchess Irini this morning that the person who will inherit your father's title is you, then I wouldn't have told you about your family's former territories being divided up to other nobles."

Vladislav then asked in a slightly intimidating tone, "You know the reason why I called you here, right?"

Lev nodded to confirm that he knew.

He was summoned to the palace this time to receive compensation for the torture he had endured by the palace. In addition, Vladislav told him that originally, Vladislav wanted to ask who would inherit Lev's family's noble title, but that didn't happen after Vladislav received a letter from Lev's mother this morning.

Lev wanted to ask whether Vladislav himself had ordered Wyatt to have the executioner torture him in the basement, or whether Vladislav didn't know that Wyatt had tortured him through the executioner... Or, Vladislav had been successfully persuaded by Wyatt to have him tortured. Despite his curiosity, Lev abandoned his intention to ask about it.

"If indeed my family's former territory has not been completely divided up to other nobles, may I receive a compensation payment for the torture I endured in the form of one of my family's former territories?"

As for the distribution of territory—which noblemen will get which territories and how large those territories will be—that will be a long story because it requires intense discussion.

'Have fun, King Vladislav.' Lev spoke in his mind and smiled at the matter that was giving Vladislav a headache.

"Which territory's spot do you want?" Vladislav asked solemnly.

The Lev family's former territory was huge, covering several terrains. Since his family's former territory was located more on the southern side of the kingdom, the weather there was somewhat warmer than the Frostgard Capital in the far north.

Hence, the staple food of the people in the Dragomirov kingdom came from there, especially in agriculture.

Judging from Vladislav's face, which was glaring at him seriously, he must have thought that Lev would ask for a piece of land in one of his favorable terrains.

"If you don't mind, may I request Mount El-Dorado, Your Majesty?"

At first, Lev had not planned to request one of the places from his family's former territory, but after he was ambushed on his way to the palace, he came to the conclusion that something inside must be very important.

He had originally planned to request the weapons owned by the royal family, but the plan to obtain the main weapon seemed to have to be slightly postponed.

The decision Lev was making now was similar to gambling. He didn't know what was inside El-Dorado mountain yet. Nevertheless, there was no harm in securing something that his enemy was targeting.

'Since you dare to target my life, don't blame me for taking what you're after.'

"Is there a mountain called Mount El-Dorado within your family's former territory?" Vladislav asked while lowering his eyebrows.

Vladislav's ignorance could be greatly tolerated because Mount El-Dorado was not a famous mountain, nor was it a mountain that brought any benefits to the Dragomirov Kingdom.

Mount El-Dorado was not a large mountain surrounded by old trees that seemed to contain mysteries or something valuable enough to be obtained. It was just a small mountain full of worthless rocks.

"Are you sure you want to take that kind of mountain as your compensation?" Vladislav asked in a surprised tone. He couldn't believe what he was hearing when Lev finished telling him about El-Dorado Mountain.

When Vladislav heard Lev's request, a look of surprise mixed with relief spread across his face. As if his worries, thinking that Lev would ask for a productive area, had been refuted, he looked relaxed.

"If indeed the mountain is as you described, it should be easy to give it to you. I will arrange it. However, if it's just that worthless mountain, I don't think it will be enough to compensate you."

"What do you mean?"

"I'll let you choose one weapon from the sword tomb."

"You mean, the sword tomb of the Dragomirov royal family?"

Unlike what Lev had expected, Vladislav suddenly offered him another form of compensation. Moreover, it was the compensation he had originally wanted.

Without having to think for long, he immediately accepted Vladislav's offer.

With that, the meeting with Vladislav was finally over.

Vladislav snapped his fingers, and a maid who was watching from a distance immediately approached.

Although the session was over, Lev wasn't sent away. He was told to clean up his body in the palace. The plan was that he would immediately perform the ceremony of inheriting his family title in the palace. After that, he would visit the sword tomb of the Dragomirov royal family.

Not stopping there, Vladislav also brought up the fact that Lev had received an invitation from the Red Onion Academy.

"If you want, you can use the transfer gate that will take you near the academy later."

"Thank you, Your Majesty."

Lev got up and saluted.

If he could, he would have brought his hands together in front of him to salute, but since his one hand was not working, he could only bow slightly, which was not entirely in accordance with the usual saluting etiquette.

When Lev and Vladislav wanted to leave the palace garden, something unexpected suddenly appeared amidst the flowers of the palace garden.
