The Extra Villain's Second Chance: A Hero's System

Chapter 63 - Private Audience

After finishing dealing with the palace messenger, Lev got off the carriage.

"Who would have thought you could put on an annoyed face?" Astaroth commented.

"Why do you think I can't make an annoyed face?"

"You see, this is the first time I've seen you make an annoyed face. Even when you were being harangued by the old nobles in court yesterday, you still remained calm. However, I am confused. What reason could there be for you to be upset?"

Astaroth did not understand the concept of kill points that Lev could obtain, so it was only natural that Astaroth scratched his chin as curiosity ran through his head.

However, that did not mean Lev had any obligation to tell Astaroth. "I'm not a robot. So, there's no need for you to feel too surprised."

"A robot? What's that?"

"It doesn't matter if you don't know."

"Tch! By the way, what are you going to do now?"

"Cleaning, of course."

"?" Astaroth wagged his tail when he received Lev's ambiguous answer.

Lev went to the front of the carriage.

There were two horses pulling the carriage.

Lev cut the rope from one of the horses that connected the horse to the carriage.

As for the other horse, Lev slapped the horse's buttocks hard.

NEIGH!

The sound of the horse's shrill scream soared through the air.

Before slapping the horse, Lev had directed the horse towards the right side of the road, where the corpses of the people who had previously confronted Lev were. The dead bodies were still scattered on the ground, with no need for Lev to clean them up.

After receiving a hard slap from Lev, the horse ran to drag the carriage towards the place where the fight between Lev and the people who attacked him earlier had taken place.

The horse ran so erratically that, when it almost hit a tree, it tried to make a sharp turn. The horse's unstable movement caused the carriage to fall to the ground.

Thud-Whomp!

A loud sound echoed as the wooden material of the carriage hit the ground. As a result of the violent pushing force, the carriage scraped the ground for a while until it hit a tree trunk and finally stopped.

Even though the impact had stopped, the wheels on the carriage were still spinning uselessly, regardless of the carriage falling apart.

"Woah! You turned out to be not only cruel to fellow humans, but also to an innocent horse, huh." Astaroth flapped his wings in excitement when he saw what Lev was doing.

What Lev did next was to throw his robe into the air and give it a tear using the Mana String. He did it to make it look like he was already involved in a life-threatening fight. After he felt he had made enough tears on his robe, he put it on again.

He also deliberately tore his shirt and pants in several parts.

Not to forget, he also put a little soil and dust on his cheeks, shirt, and in some other parts.

"Have you gone mad?" Astaroth looked at Lev with widened eyes.

At first glance, what Lev was doing was similar to the preparation of a soldier when going on an undercover mission. Actually, such a simile was not completely wrong. Lev was indeed planning to disguise the situation.

He orchestrated as if he had been ambushed by a horde of assassins, and then the palace messenger was willing to protect him until his last breath.

After setting up the ambush site according to his scenario, he got on the horse and spurred it on. Although it would be strange if someone asked how a blind man could ride a horse by himself, it was not unusual for a horse to find its way back to where it came from.

Lev only needed to make the excuse that he was merely balancing on the horse, while the horse itself was what made him reach the security post at the foot of the Thalvorn mountains, where the palace of Eira'Volin was located.

Although the scene where he was ambushed was still quite far from the palace of Eira'Volin, the path the horse he was riding on was still quite close, perhaps two kilometers or so.

"Huft~"

Lev adjusted the rhythm of his breathing heavily and put on a frightened expression with quivering eyebrows when he realized that he had arrived at the security post. He did not ride the horse with his back straight, but rather with his stomach and face pressed against the horse's back like luggage.

As a result of Lev's pathetic state, the soldiers guarding the security post immediately came out and helped Lev. Although Lev's face looked messy, they still recognized Lev's face.

As soon as they finished unloading Lev from the horse, they immediately launched various questions similar to a barrage of Gatling bullets.

Still struggling to speak due to the shock he had received, Lev simply pointed in the direction he had come from and said, "I've been ambushed over there. Please escort me to the palace right now, I don't want to be delayed any longer in answering His Majesty King Vladislav's summons."

They looked at each other for a few milliseconds before finally, one of them gave the order, "You, go to inspect the scene first. You, go to the palace to report. The sooner, the better. As for you, escort Young Master Lev to the palace carefully." He gave orders while pointing his hand at the faces of the people he was giving orders to, one after another.

It was fortunate that the soldiers seemed to already know about Lev's arrival. So, Lev wasn't treated like an intruder.

Lev was offered to receive treatment first. Either he would be examined for injuries and given first aid, or he would be treated, but if they actually examined him, they would automatically know that he was pretending.

Lev chose to force them to deliver him immediately.

Calling the place where they were huddled a security post seemed redundant, as they were just a group of soldiers stationed to watch the transfer gate.

When they had convinced Lev enough, they wrapped their arms around Lev's waist to lead him to the center of the transfer gate that led directly into Eira'Volin's palace.

"Please take a seat here, young master."

Lev stretched his hand forward to feel around. When his hand reached a seat made of a whole log, only then did he sit down as instructed.

The person who gave him those instructions was one of the maids working at Eira'Volin's palace.

After guiding Lev to where he was now, the maid then bowed slightly and left him sitting alone.

Generally, guests of the royal palace had to go through a series of annoying procedures when coming to the palace. However, strangely, he was immediately greeted by a maid when he came out of the transfer gate outside the palace gates.

After that, he was escorted to where he was now—The Palace Garden.

The whole piece of wood that her buttocks were leaning on was now in the gazebo, and the gazebo was in the middle of the palace garden, while the palace garden was in the open on the edge of a steep mountain cliff.

Woosh!

A strong wind occasionally blew across the surface of his skin.

Luckily, winter was almost completely over, so he could still endure it.

'If someone gets too engrossed in enjoying the beauty of this garden and runs around in happiness, wouldn't they be able to jump straight into a free fall?'

No wonder the maid who guide him earlier had strongly warned Lev not to let go of his ass from where he was sitting now.

Lev began to widen his perception to better observe his surroundings—he was trying to figure out how to kill time.

He ignored the beauty of the garden overlooking the Frostgard capital.

Along with the strong wind coming from the south, he traveled the hallways of the palace—his sense of hearing and four-dimensional perception surpassed what his sense of sight could achieve.

In one of the rooms inside the palace, he saw a scene that he should not have seen. If he's not mistaken, it seemed to be the private room of one of the royal family members.

If you guessed Lev was peeping at a woman changing her clothes, then you'd be wrong!

He saw the presence of King Vladislav and Harlequeen.

'Is he really King Vladislav?'

Lev wondered to himself.

He was confused because King Vladislav's expression was very different from the expression he had seen yesterday. If yesterday King Vladislav looked very stern, it was different from what he saw now.

"Hehe, look, My Dearest. I have a gift here. I'm sure you'll love it!"

King Vladislav stood up while lowering his head slightly. He was like an innocent young man giving a gift to the one he loved. In his hand was a box containing a large pearl necklace.

Meanwhile, the person sitting in front of King Vladislav was Harlequeen. She was sitting with a book in her hand. Her expression didn't change much in the face of her father's behavior, as if she were used to such overtreatment.

Harlequeen's face was still as icy as the one he saw yesterday.

'My Dearest?' Lev rubbed his ear with his little finger as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing. 'Where was the dignified figure of the king yesterday?'
