Chapter 146: The Awakening of the Seven Celestial Generals
The battle between the two armies intensified. Both sides deployed all their forces.
Even so, in terms of numbers and morale, the Holy Kingdom of Aldornia's army clearly had the upper hand.
However, the Kingdom of Avernia's army was not far behind.
Despite being outnumbered two to one, they continued to hold their ground.
Slash!
Runard stabbed the soldier in front of him, then beheaded three others who attacked from his right.
His expression showed fierce enthusiasm. This was the moment of decision—for him and for his entire kingdom.
If they could repel or even completely defeat the enemy, it would be a tremendous victory.
They could also regain their strength and take back the territory that had fallen into enemy hands.
As he continued slaughtering the enemy, a sudden threat came from his right.
Fortunately, his instincts reacted quickly, allowing him to dodge with ease.
When he turned, he saw a tall, burly man clad in dark red armor.
The man had bright red hair and a proud, arrogant face.
Runard narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "Fire General Ignis. I didn't expect you to attack from the shadows like a coward. Did you become trash without me noticing?"
Ignis's expression tensed at the insult, but he quickly regained his composure and replied flatly, "No need to provoke me, Runard. I attacked quietly just to test your speed. And surprisingly, you're still as sharp as ever. Looks like you haven't slackened since our last battle, huh?"
He and Runard had fought several times in the past, and the result was always the same: a draw.
But in truth, in strength and combat intelligence, Runard was superior.
Ignis only gained a slight advantage because his troops were able to suppress Runard's forces.
And this time, he wanted to test it again. He wanted to prove that he was truly stronger than Runard.
Without another word, Ignis opened his right palm. Sparks flickered, and a red spear formed in an instant.
He grabbed it and dashed toward Runard at great speed.
Facing the sudden attack, Runard swung his sword and rushed forward as well.
Clang!
Sword and spear collided, creating a deafening ring.
"Hahaha! This time, I will destroy you completely, Runard!" Ignis laughed loudly.
He poured power into his spear and forced Runard back with overwhelming strength.
Runard's body was thrown fifty meters away, but Ignis didn't intend to let him escape.
His figure vanished and reappeared right in front of Runard.
Spinning his spear, red flames burst from its blade before he thrust it toward Runard's stomach.
"Die!" Ignis roared.
Boom!
A massive explosion erupted, and Ignis was certain his attack had succeeded. But suddenly—
"Don't get too excited, you bastard!"
The voice came from behind him.
Before Ignis could react, a powerful kick slammed into his back, sending him flying hundreds of meters before he finally stopped, crashing into dozens of Aldornia Kingdom soldiers.
Runard didn't stop there. He bent his knees, vanished like lightning, and reappeared right in front of Ignis.
He raised his sword and slashed toward Ignis's neck.
"Not good!" Ignis was shocked. He channeled power through his body and disappeared.
Boom!
Runard's powerful strike hit hundreds of Aldornia Kingdom soldiers, turning them into pieces of meat.
"Die!"
Ignis appeared beside him, spinning his spear and aiming straight at Runard's neck.
Runard raised his sword and blocked it. The two glared at each other with murderous intent before disappearing from their positions.
Clang!
Clang!
They fought at incredible speed, and soldiers from both armies fell victim to the ferocity of their battle.
...
"Look, Luna. I'm going to activate the Seven Celestial Generals. And maybe, when you return later, you'll be able to use them," Crystal said seriously.
Luna nodded lightly. Her face looked a little pale, but her eyes gleamed with excitement.
Crystal walked toward the stage and placed the bowl on it. Then she returned to her spot and pressed her palms together.
"Seven Celestial Generals, hear my command!" she shouted. "The Kingdom of Avernia is on the brink of destruction. Only you can help us overcome this crisis! Please lend me your power!"
She formed a complicated hand seal. Luna watched closely and memorized it with ease.
It wasn't without reason. She had seen that same hand seal in a book at the library.
'Is that really the seal to activate the Seven Celestial Generals? If so…' She swallowed hard.
"Rise up, all seven of you!" Crystal gritted her teeth and clasped her hands together again.
Boom!
A red aura burst from the seven pieces of red armor. A powerful gust swept across the hall, almost sending Luna flying.
Fortunately, Crystal grabbed her right arm and held her in place.
Luna looked toward the stage and saw the eyes of the Seven Celestial Generals glowing intensely.
One of them began to move its fingers.
Then suddenly, one of their gazes locked onto Luna, sending a cold shiver down her spine.
"Don't worry, they won't hurt you," Crystal said weakly.
Luna turned and saw Crystal's face growing pale.
"Ancestor, are you okay?" She asked anxiously.
"I'm fine." Crystal shook her head with a tired smile. "Just… a little exhausted. Ugh…"
A sharp pain pierced her right temple, and she collapsed.
Luna quickly caught her. "Ancestor! Ancestor! Wake up!" she cried in panic.
But no matter how many times she called, Crystal remained unconscious.
As Luna panicked, unsure of what to do, the blood essence inside the bowl rose into the air, splitting into seven streaks and shooting toward the Seven Celestial Generals.
Their bodies shone with an intense light for several minutes.
"Who awakened me?" the general in the center asked.
Luna stared at him fearfully, but she knew she couldn't let her fear control her.
Gritting her teeth, she gathered her courage and said, "Please, Seven Celestial Generals! The Kingdom of Avernia is on the brink of destruction! Only you can help us!"
The general turned toward her with a sharp gaze.
"The Kingdom of Avernia is on the brink of destruction, you say?"
"There is a strong aura in the distance. It is very dangerous," one of the others said indifferently.
The first general fell silent for a moment, then gave a small nod.
"Very well, little one. I will grant your request. After all, we were created to protect this kingdom."
With those words, his figure—along with the other six—vanished.
Luna let out a long breath and pressed her chest, which was pounding violently.
"We… we did it. Finally… we have a chance!"
