Chapter 273: Interesting Religious Beliefs
"Oh?" Chu Feng raised an eyebrow as he looked down at the man beneath his feet. Although the man's current state was somewhat pitiable, in the end, he had managed to survive for the time being.
It seemed that he had indeed done a good deed, at least granting him the freedom most cherished by Westerners!
"Continue!"
"You might not have heard of the Yulei Sect, but you must be quite familiar with the Holy Advent Society, right?" Belles looked at Chu Feng's face, took a long breath, and, slightly invigorating his spirit, said, "The Holy Advent Society's puppeteer is the Yulei Sect, and it couldn't have grown to what it is today without the support of Yulei Sect's followers."
Listening to the information revealed by the man, Chu Feng slightly narrowed his eyes. He truly hadn't expected to hear such information. According to the man, the Holy Advent Society was supported by them. So, just how vast must the Yulei Sect's power be, for me to have never heard of this force before?
As if guessing Chu Feng's thoughts, Belles continued.
"The Yulei Sect hardly ever reveals its power; even most of those who serve it have never heard its name.
"Moreover, the headquarters of the Yulei Sect isn't in America. Its location is in that direction."
Following the direction the man indicated, Chu Feng turned his head, a touch of surprise in his eyes. "The East?"
"The Holy See's power is too formidable. We so-called heretics dare not show ourselves before them. The purge hundreds of years ago thoroughly scared those old geezers who should've died long ago!
"And on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean, The Holy See, for various reasons, isn't on friendly terms with the local people, so..."
"Indeed, that's a good place!" Chu Feng nodded in understanding, interrupting the man.
The enmity and entanglements between The Holy See and the people there, as far as he knew, were indeed the stuff of dozens of epic dramas.
So, the current near-absence of churches there indeed made it a fitting haven for this Yulei Sect.
"Since that's the case, your Yulei Sect can definitely be classified as a Cult!"
"No! The Yulei Sect is not a Cult!" Lying on the ground, Belles suddenly retorted.
"Our ancestors killed their so-called Son of God, so they are the real Cult, and the people of The Holy See are the heretics!"
"Heh." Chu Feng suddenly laughed upon hearing this but didn't refute it. There was no need to argue over things that didn't matter to him with a man who was bound to die. However, through the man's words, I've now figured out the connection between this Yulei Sect and the silver coin in my hand.
I didn't expect this legendary item to truly possess some mystical power.
"So, your purpose for coming here today was this thing?"
"Our superiors received word that your Exorcism Agency had obtained several silver coins, so we came!"
"Heh. That really is a solid reason for action!" Chu Feng tossed the silver coin lightly in his hand, then with a casual flip, stored it in the system's Storage Space.
"One last question: what do you worship? Satan? Or some Demon God?"
"Chu Feng, I'll say it again: the Yulei Sect is not a Cult. We worship the omnipotent God!"
"What?" This time, Chu Feng was utterly shocked. He even wondered if he had just misheard.
The Yulei Sect shares the same faith as The Holy See? No wonder The Holy See eradicated this religion; competing for the faith of the same god is indeed rare. I wonder if the God far away in Heaven is aware of these followers of His who can only hide in the shadows. And yet, as followers of God, they control a Cult like the Holy Advent Society? Is there something wrong with the Yulei Sect's way of thinking! It's already quite fortunate that God hasn't cast them into Hell...
"Thank you for your cooperation!" With a casual wave of his hand, Chu Feng caused the True Yuan, which had been dormant inside Belles, to suddenly turn violent.
BANG. A large hole instantly appeared in the man's emaciated chest, revealing equally shriveled internal organs beneath.
"Yulei Sect..." Chu Feng glanced at the lifeless body on the ground, muttering this new name.
Whether they are a Cult or not, a feud between us has now been established.
"Are these all from James?" Chu Feng looked at the five silver coins in the box before him, then turned incredulously to Taran beside him.
"That's right," Taran replied. "I didn't expect him to find so many at once either! But there they were, right in front of me."
Taran shrugged as she looked at the silver coins; she wasn't particularly interested in these legendary items, especially since these silver coins didn't exactly play a glorious role in the legends.
"But can a thing like this really allow the Bizarre to remain stably within a human body?"
The silver coins looked ordinary; aside from their antique style, she didn't sense any fluctuations of Strength from them.
"Perhaps there's some ritual involved," Chu Feng shrugged nonchalantly, then stored all the silver coins in his Storage Space.
Although these silver coins were of no use to him, he didn't want them to fall into someone else's hands someday, especially with the Yulei Sect coveting them.
"Aren't you going to sell them to The Holy See? They've been hunting for these silver coins, after all..." Taran asked, watching Chu Feng's actions with some confusion.
"Human currency could collapse at any time. Selling them to The Holy See now wouldn't be cost-effective. It's better to wait for the future."
"Currency collapse?" Taran's voice was laced with alarm. "Although the Human World is being ravaged by the Bizarre, it hasn't reached apocalyptic levels yet, has it?"
"Hell is already connected to the Human World. Collapse is just a matter of time..."
After Chu Feng described the scene he had personally witnessed, Taran's expression went blank, and she sank back into her chair, muttering continuously,
"The apocalypse... the apocalypse... How could this be happening?"
The news of a possible approaching apocalypse instantly robbed this woman, who had weathered her share of storms, of her ability to think.
Although it had been a long time since the Bizarre resurfaced, she had never once considered what she would do if the end of the world actually came.
"Actually, it's not exactly an apocalypse. It's more likely that the plane of Hell will eventually truly merge with the Human World..."
Seeing Taran in this state for the first time, Chu Feng hurriedly explained.
But evidently, his comforting words didn't manage to calm her down.
Looking at Taran, still sitting dazed in her chair, Chu Feng shook his head helplessly, turned, and walked out, leaving her some quiet space.
I hope she recovers quickly!
After checking on Lin Qiu, who was still in a deep slumber, Chu Feng finally returned to his office.
"DING! Congratulations, Host, for successfully killing a Middle Rank Evil Spirit. You will receive the following rewards..."
