Chapter 17 Yun Qiao
The house slave, still bewildered by Yun Qiao’s decision to consume the pill, voiced his concern, “My lord! Why did you take it without hesitation? What if the pill was poisonous?”
“I trust Miss Jun,” Yun Qiao replied with a grin.
Jun Jiu had saved him, and he had started to believe in her the moment he saw her bright and clear eyes when he regained consciousness. He had no reason to doubt her intentions.
Upon ingesting the Nuanxin Yiqi Pill, Yun Qiao immediately felt a pleasant warmth envelop his cold body. Even the pain in his heart, previously gripped by the frigid ailment, gradually subsided. He felt extremely comfortable and healthier.
Yun Qiao exclaimed with delight, “I feel great!”
Jun Jiu reached out to take his pulse, and nobody noticed the hint of surprise that flashed in her eyes. The Nuanxin Yiqi Pill she had crafted seemed to be even more effective than the ones she had made before.
Confident in the pill’s efficacy, Yun Qiao praised Jun Jiu, “Jun Jiu, your Nuanxin Yiqi Pill is amazing! It’s incredibly effective and superior to any other pill I’ve tried.”
A subtle smile curved Jun Jiu’s lips. She jotted down a prescription and handed it to Yun Qiao, saying, “This is the recipe for the Nuanxin Yiqi Pill. You’ve witnessed my process, so you can make it yourself in the future.”
Yun Qiao stared at the prescription in disbelief. “You’re giving me the formula?”
“Yes, is there a problem with that?” Jun Jiu raised an eyebrow.
“Alchemy formulas are closely guarded secrets of every pharmacist. They are never shared with outsiders. By giving it to me like this, aren’t you concerned about your alchemical knowledge spreading?” Yun Qiao asked, still astonished by Jun Jiu’s casual attitude.
Most pharmacists were fiercely protective of their formulae and wouldn’t allow anyone to glimpse them. Yet, here was Jun Jiu, freely handing over her formula.
Jun Jiu smiled at Yun Qiao. “It’s just a Nuanxin Yiqi Pill; there’s no need to keep it a secret. I noticed that you like it, so I’m giving it to you. It’s as simple as that.”
Willfulness had always been synonymous with Holy Hand Jun Jiu. When she was pleased, she acted without restraint, and she wouldn’t hesitate to challenge the Grim Reaper himself. Conversely, when displeased, she could send someone to meet their maker without a second thought.
Yun Qiao gazed at Jun Jiu in awe for a moment, then took a deep breath and bowed respectfully. “Yun Qiao is here to express my gratitude to Miss Jun for her generosity.”
Jun Jiu’s brows furrowed in confusion. What did this have to do with gratitude?
Xiao Wu chimed in, “Master, you might not realize how valuable Nuanxin Yiqi Pills are in this world. Here, the simple elixir you gave away casually is considered a treasure. Medical knowledge here is far less advanced than what you’re used to.”
Jun Jiu nodded in understanding but showed no signs of changing her mind. She smiled at Yun Qiao and said, “You’re welcome.”
Turning around, Jun Jiu instructed the pharmacy owner to package all the medicinal ingredients they had selected and had them delivered to her. The wealth she had acquired from Jun Haitian was becoming burdensome. If not for her reluctance to part with East Lake Garden, she might have been tempted to transport the entire pharmacy back home.
“Miss Jun!” Yun Qiao called out to her hastily.
Jun Jiu turned back to face him, and Yun Qiao, wearing a smile that was hard to suppress, said, “Miss Jun saved my life. Please allow me to pay for these medicinal ingredients. But this is not enough to repay your kindness. Therefore, please accept this, Miss Jun.”
He retrieved a token from his robe and handed it to Jun Jiu. The token was made of high-quality warm jade, intricately carved with a cloud on one side and “Qiao” on the other, representing Yun Qiao’s name.
Yun Qiao belonged to the Yun family of the Imperial City.
As Jun Jiu’s eyes dimmed, she recognized the significance of this token. It was a symbol of the prestigious Yun family of the Imperial City.
