Back in the Shadow Lord's lair, the atmosphere was tense. His forces had returned empty-handed from an attempted ambush in the Ember Wastes, their failure fueling his growing rage.

The Shadow Lord stood before a massive cauldron of swirling darkness, his red eyes burning as he addressed his lieutenants. "The phoenix is ascending. If it fully bonds with the Seeker, it will become unstoppable."

One of the lieutenants, a gaunt figure with hollow eyes, stepped forward. "Then we strike before it's too late. The Seekers' base is vulnerable now. If we destroy their foundation, they will crumble."

The Shadow Lord's lips twisted into a cruel smile. "Yes. Prepare the assault. Let them see what it means to defy me."

At the Seekers' base, Kael and Angelica had just returned from the Ember Wastes, Ignis's ascension leaving them both invigorated and apprehensive. Lira met them at the gates, her expression grave.

"We've intercepted a transmission," she said, leading them to the war room. The crystalline map displayed the Shadow Lord's forces moving toward the base. "They're coming for us. And they're not holding back."

Kael felt a surge of determination. "Then we stand and fight."

Angelica placed a hand on his arm. "We're not just fighting for ourselves. We're fighting for the Nexus—and for Ignis."

Lira nodded. "The Shadow Lord underestimates us. That will be his downfall."
