The Enhanced Doctor

Chapter 258: 258 Zhou Yang's Challenge

On the high-speed train back to Binhai City, Liu Banxia was filled with emotions. Indeed, having more friends made the journey easier. He also acknowledged his own luck for having benefactors in life.

However, he reminded himself to be wary of Old Qin's revenge. Like a lingering spirit, one careless move could allow Old Qin to grasp an opportunity against him.

"Why did it take you so long to get out?" Just as Liu Banxia walked out of the train station, Qiaoqiao complained.

"The station was packed today. I've promised Yanzi; I must deliver," Liu Banxia replied with a smile.

"At least you remembered your promise and didn't get drunk and forget about it," Qiaoqiao nodded.

Since Liu Banxia had irregular and infrequent days off, he was incredibly busy whenever he got some time off.

For instance, today he was performing surgery in the morning, having lunch with Xu Chengjun, helping Wang Xiaoyan with a live broadcast in the afternoon, and having dinner with Qiu Huaili in the evening.

He had also promised Uncle Jiang and Grandpa Cao from his old rental block to have fish stew and hot pot. How long had it been? He still hadn't managed to go.

The two of them sincerely invited him and occasionally sent messages asking when he would come. But he still hadn't found the time, so he could only keep delaying.

"By the way, is Jiaojiao okay now?" Liu Banxia asked.

"She's fine. Last time's commotion was rather cathartic for her. But it's always the women who get hurt no matter what they do," Qiaoqiao replied.

"And you, why haven't you bought yourself a car? I have so many things to do, yet I also have to serve as your driver. How much are you paying me? It's killing me."

"Don't go there. I really can't afford it. Now, what are you going to do about it?" Liu Banxia said nonchalantly.

"I'm already your private doctor on the side, shouldn't that count? Just consider it my consultation fee. Tang Dou should be able to run around freely now, right?"

"Exactly, she's starting to get restless at home." Qiaoqiao's annoyance towards Liu Banxia was soon forgotten as Tang Dou came up in the conversation.

Liu Banxia heaved a sigh of relief. Pleased to have successfully navigated that.

Truthfully, he felt rather wronged. Originally, he intended to take the subway and then a taxi for the rest of the journey. But Qiaoqiao felt it was too much trouble, so she insisted on picking him up.

Now that she had come to pick him up, she was complaining about him having too many commitments.

Dare he refute her? Absolutely not! Any man who can successfully reason with a woman must be a superhero. Not to mention that he planned the dinner for the evening, all for Qiaoqiao's sake.

This trip for Liu Banxia was also, in a way, his battle for revenge.

Last time, he was humiliated practicing yoga with Wang Xiaoyan, his body incredibly stiff. Although he was just playing a supporting role, he too had his dignity. Today, he had to reclaim his pride and then leave with his head held high.

Full of fighting spirit, he was nearly deflated after getting into the elevator.

It was a case of enemies meeting on a narrow path; he ran into Zhou Yang. Today, Zhou Yang was dressed in casual sportswear, carrying a backpack, looking ready for a workout.

"HUMPH." Qiaoqiao snorted coldly.

"Qiaoqiao, why bother? Is it fun to fool people with such a fake? Very amusing, right?" Zhou Yang said with a smile.

"How is it fake? A scumbag like you needs to have his true colors exposed to everyone!" Qiaoqiao retorted fiercely.

"Love between men and women, mutual affection—that becomes the act of a scumbag when it comes to you? I've always made it clear that I don't intend to marry early, regardless of who I'm seeing, right?" Zhou Yang shrugged.

"A scumbag is a scumbag." Qiaoqiao refused to back down.

"A scumbag, so be it. You're friends with Jiaojiao, after all. But even if I am a scumbag, I'm better than a freeloader, right? Maybe you should consider doing some exercise too; it's not good to lack a decent physique," Zhou Yang glanced at Liu Banxia.

"You want to compete with me in fitness? I guess you really don't know what I do," Liu Banxia said seriously.

"Looks like a pro, huh? It's alright if you don't do any fitness exercises. There's a boxing gym next to the fitness center on the fifth floor. Wanna try?" Zhou Yang suggested with a disdainful look.

"Scram! I don't have time to deal with you," Qiaoqiao chimed in.

"Sure, let's do some fitness first, then have a go at boxing after. But I'm a newbie; I've never tried," Liu Banxia said nonchalantly.

Qiaoqiao was stunned. Even though they had previously discussed having Liu Banxia pretend to be Jiaojiao's new boyfriend and casually visit the gym, that was just for show. Now Zhou Yang actually wanted to box with Liu Banxia—was he out of his mind?

Zhou Yang also looked at him in surprise. "Alright, you're a real man for accepting the challenge, not as soft as I thought. I'll be waiting for you."

"Tsk, whether I'm soft or not has nothing to do with you. Are you into that sort of thing?" Liu Banxia retorted, not letting him off the hook.

In the time it took to exchange these few words, the elevator reached the fifth floor. As Zhou Yang was exiting, he turned back and gave Liu Banxia a long, provocative look.

"Are you stupid? He's been boxing for several years; he's going to beat you to a pulp!" Once the elevator doors closed, Qiaoqiao said anxiously.

"Relax, trust me, I can handle it," Liu Banxia said with nonchalance.

"Sure, sure, only you can. Do I need to call an ambulance in advance? Oh right, you're a doctor; you should be quite familiar with them," Qiaoqiao said.

"Hey, just calm down. If I dared to accept his challenge, it means I'm confident," Liu Banxia comforted her.

"I figured you two would be up by now. What's going on? You're not having a fight, are you?" Wang Xiaoyan, waiting by the elevator on the seventh floor, looked curiously at their expressions.

"He wants to commit suicide. He says he's going to box with Zhou Yang," Qiaoqiao grumbled.

Wang Xiaoyan's relaxed expression vanished. "Dr. Liu, please don't go. Zhou Yang fights dirty."

"Is he that good?" Liu Banxia frowned.

"He isn't a professional, but he spends all his time working out and boxing. That's how he attracts girls. You really shouldn't go," Wang Xiaoyan said, nodding.

Liu Banxia's brows furrowed even deeper. He was actually starting to get cold feet. He had assumed Zhou Yang was all show and that he could wear him out with fitness, then easily handle him in the boxing match.

Now it seemed that wasn't the case at all. Since both Qiaoqiao and Wang Xiaoyan said so, it proved Zhou Yang genuinely had skills.

While Liu Banxia was still hesitating, another elevator door opened, and Zhou Yang strolled out, a wide grin on his face.

"To show my sincerity, I'm personally waiting for you, Mr. Liu. I've also informed the gym and the boxing gym that we can use their facilities today; they won't schedule any other activities," Zhou Yang said with a smile.

"Qiaoqiao, you were in the elevator just now. This isn't a fight I picked. But don't worry, I'll go easy on him."

"What crap are you talking about? Just because he says so, it's settled? I have things to do this afternoon!" Qiaoqiao retorted.

Zhou Yang didn't say anything, instead shifting his gaze to Liu Banxia.

Liu Banxia pulled out his phone and glanced at it. "Time is a bit tight."

Both Qiaoqiao and Wang Xiaoyan breathed sighs of relief. Losing face was far better than getting beaten up. Even though Liu Banxia had some muscle, he paled in comparison to Zhou Yang.

And it wasn't that everyone who learned boxing was necessarily good, but compared to Liu Banxia, Zhou Yang was significantly stronger.

"Yanzi, I might not be able to assist with your livestream today. Can we move it to tonight? After dinner, I'll work overtime and help you get this broadcast done," Liu Banxia then said.

"You—are you trying to infuriate me?" Qiaoqiao said, pinching Liu Banxia's arm.

"Since Mr. Liu is so busy, shall we go downstairs now?" Zhou Yang interjected.

Liu Banxia rolled his eyes. "Why the rush? My clothes are here. And don't worry, a man's word is his bond. Let me change first."

After saying this, Liu Banxia walked into Wang Xiaoyan's yoga studio.

"Are you stupid? Can't you just back down? Do you have to get beaten up to be happy?" Qiaoqiao said, following him in and raising her voice.

Noticing the girls in the studio waiting for class all looking over, Liu Banxia quickly pulled Qiaoqiao into Wang Xiaoyan's office.

"Go ahead, hit me. Sneak attack or whatever, feel free," Liu Banxia said.

Without a second thought, Qiaoqiao punched Liu Banxia square in the chest. Surprisingly, her small fist packed quite a punch, making Liu Banxia rub his chest.

"Not so smug now, huh? I haven't even had proper training, yet you still couldn't dodge," Qiaoqiao glowered at him.

"Actually, it was my miscalculation. My reactions are very fast; it's just that with the office desk nearby, I had no room to dodge," Liu Banxia said helplessly.

"How about this? You've played the hand-slapping game as a kid, right? I'll put my hand here. If you can slap it, I won't fight Zhou Yang, deal?"

"Place your hand there," Qiaoqiao said.

Liu Banxia obediently placed his hand on the back of the sofa.

Qiaoqiao moved quickly, bringing her hand down with a SLAP! However, unlike before, this time she hit only the back of the sofa.

"See? My reactions really are fast. Although I've never learned boxing, if I can make sure he can't hit me, and I hit him, then it'll be fine," Liu Banxia said, grinning.

Qiaoqiao frowned, and with a flick of her hand, just as Liu Banxia finished speaking and was still looking at her, she slapped at his hand again.

But the Liu Banxia of today was not the Liu Banxia of before. He shifted his hand slightly to the side, and Qiaoqiao missed again.

As for Qiaoqiao, she had a stubborn streak. Just moments ago, she was worried Liu Banxia would be beaten up; now she was determined to slap his hand, as if to prove he would indeed get thrashed.

One hand couldn't do it? Then she'd use both.

Liu Banxia was enjoying himself too. Although she occasionally managed to hit his arm or something, it was mostly due to the limited space preventing him from dodging freely. In any case, she never managed to hit his hand.

CREAK.

Just as the two were "happily" engrossed in their game, the office door opened.

Startled by the sound, Qiaoqiao's slap had a bit too much force; she lost her balance and fell right onto Liu Banxia. He, fearing she would fall completely, steadied her by her shoulders.

Wang Xiaoyan, who had peeked inside to see what was going on, grinned at the sight and quickly shut the door.

No wonder there hadn't been any noise for several minutes after they went in; they were just playing a game. Aren't these two a bit too playful? When did this develop? Isn't the progress a little too fast?
