Chapter 252: Has the 252 system become generous again?
"Is it painful to have someone following you everywhere?"
While the white-haired man was still on the phone, Liu Banxia approached the woman who was heavily covered.
"Actually, Brother Bai means well. It's just that some things are beyond his control. We have an agreement with our partners that all publicity must prioritize them," the girl continued.
"Ah, being a star isn't easy. But you made a poor choice today. Who wouldn't recognize you after this scene?" Upon hearing what the girl said, Liu Banxia thought, She seems pretty decent at heart.
"Can you take this call, please? It's Vice Director Wang Guobin from your hospital." The white-haired man walked over, a hint of triumph in his eyes.
Liu Banxia looked at him amusingly and took the phone. "Vice Director Wang, hello, this is Liu Banxia."
"Liu, hello. Xiao Bai has just updated me on the situation. Did this incident disrupt other patients in the Emergency Department?" Wang Guobin asked.
"Yes. More than twenty people suddenly rushed in, displacing other patients. It almost led to a conflict," Liu Banxia replied.
"I managed to resolve the situation with difficulty, but he refuses to register. Plus, he insists I sign a confidentiality agreement. I haven't heard of such a thing since I started studying medicine."
Wang Guobin on the other end of the phone paused for a moment. Liu Banxia didn't rush him. I have to shut down that line of reasoning immediately. Otherwise, if Wang Guobin voices it, I'll be in a difficult position to respond. Agreeing would violate regulations. Disagreeing would mean disrespecting the Vice Director. Either option would make me uncomfortable.
"This Xiao Bai has certainly gone too far. Liu, pass the phone to him," Vice Director Wang's voice came from the phone.
"Alright, please hold on for a second." After he finished speaking, Liu Banxia handed the phone to the baffled white-haired man.
"Okay, okay, I appreciate it. I will handle things over here." The white-haired man responded a few times after taking the phone, then stared intently at Liu Banxia.
I truly don't understand. Who gave Liu Banxia the guts to speak to the Vice Director like that?
"What are you still staring at? Either register or leave. We're not refusing treatment; you're refusing to register. There's a fundamental difference," Liu Banxia said with a smile.
"Fine, I'll go register," the white-haired man said unwillingly.
"Come with me to the treatment room. After all this fuss, don't cause trouble for the other doctors. Liang Xiaolin, come in with me," Liu Banxia called out.
She's a big star, and that whole scene earlier was unpleasant. The last thing I need after treating her is some vague, hard-to-resolve complaint.
Liang Xiaolin, standing nearby, was quite curious. She could tell this person was a big deal. But with the woman so thoroughly disguised, she really couldn't guess who it was.
"Alright, you can remove your accessories now so I can take a look at your nose," Liu Banxia said with a smile after they entered the treatment room.
"Don't we have to wait for Brother Bai to register?" the girl asked curiously.
"It's fine. My diagnosis will be recorded under the registered name, but the diagnostic process itself can begin," Liu Banxia said casually.
"Wow, you're Tang Feifei?" Liang Xiaolin couldn't help exclaiming when she saw the girl remove her hat, sunglasses, and mask.
Liu Banxia looked at her closely. She was indeed very pretty, but he had no recollection of her from the limited number of entertainment figures he knew. Currently, Tang Feifei's nose was clearly injured; it was slightly crooked to the left and runny.
"How did you injure it?" Liu Banxia asked.
"I accidentally bumped it yesterday, and my nose started bleeding. I didn't pay much attention at the time, but when I woke up this morning, my nose was somewhat swollen and constantly running," Tang Feifei explained.
"First, wipe it. Gently. Um... may I ask, have you had any surgery on your nose?" Liu Banxia said, handing her a tissue.
"You're asking if I've had cosmetic surgery, right? No, I haven't. Not on my nose, not anywhere on my body," Tang Feifei stated.
"My apologies. It's not that I have misconceptions about celebrities; it's a standard question. A minor impact is unlikely to cause a deviated nasal septum," Liu Banxia said.
"If the impact was significant, it might cause a nasal bone fracture. Your nose is now somewhat swollen and constantly runny; this might indicate sinus damage."
"You can determine that without even examining me?" Tang Feifei asked, wiping her nose.
"It's just an educated guess for now. I'll examine you physically in a moment, and you can tell me what you feel," Liu Banxia said, putting on gloves.
He lightly touched her nose. "Does this much pressure hurt?" he asked.
"No. Actually, it doesn't hurt much when I touch it myself. It's just that because my nose keeps running, I feel a bit stuffy and have a slight headache," Tang Feifei explained.
Liu Banxia then proceeded more confidently, carefully examining Tang Feifei's nasal bones. Fortunately, there were no signs of a fracture, at least by his touch. Otherwise, with that amount of pressure, Tang Feifei would definitely have screamed in pain.
"Doctor, I've completed the registration," the white-haired man said, walking in with a medical record book.
Liu Banxia glanced at the computer. The white-haired man hadn't tried any tricks; the name registered was indeed Tang Feifei.
"Considering your current condition, it seems to be a nasal septum dislocation, what we commonly call a dislodged nasal cartilage. It's a good thing you sought treatment promptly; otherwise, it would only get worse," Liu Banxia said.
"I'll clean your nasal cavity first for a quick look. Then, we'll do a CT scan of your nasal bones to assess the dislocation. If it's severe, we'll need to consult an ENT specialist, and surgery might be necessary."
"Ah... surgery?" The white-haired man became visibly flustered.
"That's the worst-case scenario," Liu Banxia glanced at him.
"And it's just minor surgery; it won't affect your normal life afterward. You probably have some event planned, right? I suggest you postpone it."
"A septal dislocation isn't a major problem, but neglecting it can lead to many minor issues, like a runny nose or nosebleeds. These are all possible."
"Tilt your head up slightly. You should be able to look at me through your nostrils now. I'll clean them out for you; that should make you feel more comfortable. Otherwise, you'll keep having this stuffy, headachy feeling. It would be best to do a nasal endoscopy later to check for any sinus damage."
Tang Feifei was truly suffering. Without a second thought, she followed Liu Banxia's instructions, lifting her chin to look at him through her nostrils.
This was Liu Banxia extending some courtesy, considering he had to give Vice Director Wang some face. Normally, the procedure would be to get the scan first, then proceed with treatment.
Liu Banxia cleaned her nasal cavity meticulously. There wasn't just mucus; there were also some residual blood clots. After a thorough cleaning, Tang Feifei could finally breathe a bit more easily.
"Alright, get your disguise back on and go pay for the scan. This isn't an emergency, so I can't arrange for it to be expedited. You can contact Vice Director Wang about that; I won't interfere," Liu Banxia said.
The white-haired man shot him a look. He's deliberately making things difficult by sticking to standard procedure! Vice Director Wang clearly implied he could make an exception.
"Dr. Liu, could you possibly make an exception? Even with a mask and sunglasses, if I have to queue for a long time, I might get recognized and draw a crowd," Tang Feifei interjected.
"Sorry, I really can't. We can only expedite cases based on medical urgency. If I expedite yours, it would be unfair to other patients," Liu Banxia replied.
"You can have your associate go queue up first. Once the person ahead of you goes in, you can head over. You can wait in my treatment room for a while, but not if too many patients are waiting."
Liu Banxia's inflexibility startled Liang Xiaolin. They even mentioned Vice Director Wang; there are clearly connections here! And Tang Feifei is a celebrity, she even pleaded with him, yet he remains so impartial, not giving an inch.
"Brother Bai, you go over there and check things out first. I'll wait here," Tang Feifei said, looking at Liu Banxia and then at the white-haired man.
The white-haired man was furious too but felt helpless against Liu Banxia's assertive stance. Switch hospitals? They'd just have to go through the same charade all over again at another hospital.
"Actually, your dislocation isn't too severe. You probably won't need surgery," Liu Banxia said with a smile after the white-haired man left.
"If you were an ordinary patient, I would have reduced it for you right away. But you're different; you're a public figure. I can't act recklessly. Otherwise, I could end up facing a lawsuit. Who could deal with that?"
"You're a doctor! Can you please not be so sarcastic?" Tang Feifei said, frustrated.
Her agitation caused two streams of mucus, mixed with small blood clots, to run from her nose.
"See that? That's from deeper inside. I could only moisten the area earlier. Without a nasal endoscope, I can't clean it safely," Liu Banxia said, handing her a tissue.
Tang Feifei was very frustrated. Blowing her nose like that in front of others was quite unsightly.
"Can you bear the pain?" Liu Banxia asked.
"Are you going to reduce it for me?" Tang Feifei retorted.
"Just bear with it for a bit. Nasal septum reduction is trickier than resetting other joint dislocations. After I fix this for you, I need to get to lunch. Otherwise, this could drag on indefinitely," Liu Banxia said casually.
Hearing this, Tang Feifei grew even more indignant. I thought he was doing me a favor, but he's just worried about missing lunch? Am I less important than his lunch?
However, Liu Banxia wasn't exaggerating. Nasal septum reduction was genuinely difficult. It was only because Tang Feifei's dislocation wasn't severe that he dared to attempt it.
As Liu Banxia kneaded, manipulated, and pushed her nose upward, Tang Feifei's eyes watered and her nose ran freely. It wasn't excruciatingly painful, but that aching, sore sensation was truly unbearable.
