"AH... AH..."

Lying on the ground, Liu Banxia took a moment to steady himself. As soon as he came to his senses, he heard violent wails from behind him. He quickly turned to see a firefighter pinned down by a large aluminum window, its cement sill still attached.

Horrifyingly, the firefighter's left hand was severely burned, looking charred. A shard of glass was embedded in his forearm, and his humerus was clearly misshapen.

Seeing this, Liu Banxia instantly realized it was this firefighter who had pushed him moments before. Because he'd pushed Liu Banxia, he himself had been trapped under the window.

Ignoring the two doctors and the patient he himself had fallen on, Liu Banxia crawled over and lifted the window.

"How are you two?" Liu Banxia quickly asked the two doctors after the firefighter crawled out, grimacing in pain.

"We're fine, just a bit dizzy from the smoke inhalation," one of them replied.

"Good. His injuries are serious. I'm taking him out now." Having said this, Liu Banxia activated his system to exchange for a bottle of Vitality Mixture and a Yellow Gem to increase his strength.

A strong, pungent smell still hung in the air, likely from burning chemical substances.

The firefighter's injuries might have looked straightforward, but they were extremely severe, which was why Liu Banxia hadn't carried him on his back. The young man's chest also had burns, but their extent couldn't yet be assessed.

The explosion had startled the people outside. Some objects had been thrown into the air and exploded, making them think a room storing fireworks had been hit.

"Ambulance, ambulance! He needs immediate transport! There's another person inside who's had a fasciotomy on their leg! Send them to the hospital together!" Liu Banxia yelled in desperation upon getting outside.

"I'll take this patient. You go rest for a bit," Xu Chengjun rushed over promptly.

"Place him down carefully. I'll go with the ambulance to oversee his treatment at the hospital." After setting the firefighter down, Liu Banxia turned and sprinted back inside.

The two doctors didn't have any Vitality Mixture and had already used up a lot of energy. It would be very difficult for them to bring the remaining patient out now.

Halfway there, he saw several firefighters staggering out, supporting someone. Liu Banxia rushed over, took the patient onto his own back, and sprinted towards the exit.

This left the other firefighters dumbfounded. Is he really a doctor? Is his stamina even better than ours, the professionals?

Liu Banxia genuinely feared any delay, lest something else happened to these two patients. Their injuries were complex; any negligence could lead to lifelong regrets.

His actions also startled Xu Chengjun and the others.

Although Liu Banxia could be said to have perfectly completed the on-site emergency rescue mission, he felt no joy at all.

The firefighter was young; he looked like he had only recently joined the force. Yet, it was him who had saved everyone. If not for him, that aluminum window would have struck them, and who knows how badly everyone would have been injured.

"Chief Director Xu, were there a lot of injuries this time?" Liu Banxia asked.

Xu Chengjun nodded. "Quite a lot. About 70 people have been transported to the hospital. Some were sent to our district hospital, others to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital."

"The explosion's force was too great, and the fire spread too quickly. The numerous illegal structures here also hampered the fire department's rescue efforts. So far, three deaths are known: two died at the scene, and one passed away before reaching the hospital."

"Our hospital's medical capacity alone isn't enough to treat all these injured people. We've already contacted the First and Second Affiliated Hospitals, as well as the municipal hospital's Department of Burns. Their teams are on their way."

Liu Banxia nodded. "These burns won't be easy to treat; there are a lot of chemical substances involved. Are there many patients with complex injuries?"

"Isn't that the truth? For some patients, all we can do now is maintain their condition and wait for reinforcements," Xu Chengjun remarked with a bitter smile.

"Many are like this young fellow, with all sorts of objects embedded in their bodies. They were all injured by shrapnel in the first explosion. We still don't know how many of them will pull through."

"Get yourself treated at the hospital first. Your hair is singed, and I think I saw blood on your back too. If you don't take care of yourself, how are you going to save others?"

Hearing Xu Chengjun's words, Liu Banxia touched his scalp. He did indeed grab a handful of singed hair, and his back was starting to ache now. He'd been so tense he hadn't even noticed.

"Doctor Liang performed well today. She was calm and collected. She successfully intubated three very difficult cases," Xu Chengjun added.

"I didn't do much," Liang Xiaolin quickly interjected.

"Why so modest? Participating is what matters," Liu Banxia replied with a smile.

Liang Xiaolin had wanted to glare at him, but seeing the state of his singed hair, she decided to let him off the hook for now.

When they arrived at the district hospital, the entire lobby was packed with people. The district hospital could only triage patients based on the severity of their injuries. This led to a lot of misunderstanding from patients with minor injuries, and the scene was chaotic.

Xu Chengjun sighed. Today was truly a test for the district hospital.

Liu Banxia didn't pay attention to any of this. All the way there, he kept wondering how to treat the firefighter's complex injuries. The glass had probably severed the firefighter's tendons too.
