Chapter 305: Victor?
Forces in contact hoping to overcome the other.
I let out as much energy as I could at once and I bet the dragon lord did the same. However, I had a feeling this wasn't going to end up in my favor, I could already tell my energy was shaving away, meanwhile, a dragon lord would always have flames to let out, I presumed.
I stopped my blast and dove down and away from the flames. The flames went after me once again. This time, I took the precaution of having <Haven> over me, I doubted greatly it could fend off the attack, but it would give me enough time to move away from the blast were I hit.
I teleported, appearing meters overhead the dragon lord. I wanted to zoom down and drive a blade through its head, but before I could do so, the dragon lord turned my way and sent up flames, my plan going to naught.
He stopped the flame attack however, either out of tiredness or perhaps its low efficacy. Instead, he became more direct as he charged at me like a bull, a round field of fire over him.
'A fucking monster.'
I wouldn't have thought dragon lords were this powerful. What stopped them from engaging in their conquest before now? According to Park, they had been existing and alive for centuries now.
"Does this guy not run out of juice?"
My attention was momentarily stolen when I heard a wail, someone on our side just died. Rocky spires broke and fell into the lake of molten rock below. Drifting my eyes about, I could see the others struggling, and the dragon lords merely having fun with them. It was sad, and frankly it made me afraid. If I somehow won over this dragon lord, those other dragon lords would seek to face me. I was certain from the struggle I saw, this was suicide.
I slapped my head while I was in heaven. The negative fearful thoughts did the absolute opposite of helping. I needed to concentrate. Miraculously, I had avoided the approach of the dragon lord so far, despite my divided attention.
I turned and I watched him spin in his flame field, swinging forward his arm and sending an arching blade of flame my way.
The blade struck my shield, nudging it and causing it to quake, but surprisingly, my shield held on. I didn't turn to see it, but I was certain that this dissatisfied the dragon lord. Still hovering and chased, I felt a grip on my energy shield.
I turned to see a whip of flame around my shield and I got pulled and hurled down to the molten rock lake.
I undid Haven as I lost control over it, and I fought to regain control of my body. I ultimately did, and once again, the dragon lord came at me with unmatched ferocity.
I could either run, or face this fucker, and I had grown tired of running. Being able to relive a scenario abated my fear of death and I guessed that it factored in my reckless decision to charge at the dragon lord.
I brought out both of my blades: Wyvern Blade and Draconic Dagger, and held them out and forward. I let out a loud battle cry, as I gave my all in that moment. I coated my body with energy taking my yellowish radiant form, it would serve as some form of protection.
The dragon lord showed no sign of stopping or deceleration, we really were going to collide into each other. That was what we ultimately did.
We crashed into each other, and my vision blackened, and I felt my body hurling across miles, I had no control over it. It remained like this for a while until I struck a wall and fell on a flat cliff, I barely avoided falling over.
My vision switched from total darkness to a blurry burning landscape incessantly until I lost consciousness.
The notification I expected however didn't come, I wasn't dead, yet.
But neither was he. I heard a voice, it was desperate.
"Mikey! Mikey! Mikey Rael!" And then a strong slap that caused me to open my eyes.
It was Lucy Fer, and she was greatly bruised. She even sustained a black eye. I was too tired to react–either to be stupefied, angry, or sad, I simply lacked the energy for any of those emotions. All I wanted was to close my eyes, and shut off the pain. Read latest stories on empire
"We have to get out of here. We have lost. Everyone is gone, it's just us two."
There was a ringing in my head since Lucy Fer awoke me, it could have been her slap, but I doubted it, either way my head was hurting, and because of that, it rang, however when she stated that everyone was gone, I felt the ringing some more. I couldn't breathe, it was like the world was trying to squeeze me out.
Lucy Fer was right however, we had lost and we needed to be out of here.
A green portal appeared swirling and hanging in the air just some meters away from us. I felt Lucy' grip tighten around my torso, and then I was thrown through the portal.
Perhaps the dimension interfered with the portal, or Lucy lacked enough energy to hold it properly. Either way, I felt myself swirled within the portal, almost as if it sought to rend and tear me apart.
It didn't, and I was away from that terrible place. I sat, resting on my elbows and expecting Lucy. She did jump out of the portal eventually, but it felt like it took her forever.
The portal closed, and I fell to the carpet of short grasses. We survived, but at what cost? We were totally decimated.
My vision blurred and everything went dark, I resigned once again, losing consciousness.
Before I was totally out, I heard a kind soft whisper, "It's fine now, we are safe."
