Chapter 302: Into The Dragon's Kin Abode
After Caleb's supposedly optimistic speech, we went over the plan, a rather simple one at that: Go to the dragon kin's town, kill as many as we can, and the death of the dragon god and the dragon lords take priority. From what I saw over the images Lizbella transmitted into our minds, the dragon god was a monster and in a domain of strength that's far above us, I at least. If I were to guess, I would put I, and probably Park, at the dragon lords' realm of strength. Lucy Fer and Caleb might be stronger than they are.
I took a deep breath, "We are really going to do this, huh?" Lucy struck my ribs playfully with her elbow. I looked at her red eyes, and she smirked, lighting things up. I returned the gesture. Soon after, I felt an invasion in my mind, it wasn't the system, that wouldn't count as an invasion as I'm all too familiar with it. It was Lizbella's mind link ability. A network of telepathy was shared amongst the group, and I suppose that meant that I had to be careful of my thoughts, I wouldn't want any inappropriate thoughts to fly.
Francis clapped, capturing our attention, and a large blue portal appeared. It spun and spun, and through it, we caught the sight of a small town. From our point of view, it seemed that the portal was above, and in the sky.
We could see the town's reptilian residents walking about. They were scanty, and things seemed gloomy between them. I couldn't tell for sure, but there was barely any communication made between those that passed each other. Hopefully, they had acquired losses that had downed their spirits. That would make things much simpler for us.
"You are staying back, Francis?" Park questioned.
Francis made a weak forced smile, "Yes, someone has to monitor here while you guys are gone, and talk to the Priestess. Lizbella can't do all that." Park simply nodded to the statement, and everything was settled.
Caleb was the first to advance, he jumped through the portal, and the rest followed. I watched everyone jump until it remained just I and Lucy.
Lucy went in without hesitation and it was just me. I turned to Francis. He slowly nodded at me, urging me on, and I returned the gesture.
I zoomed into the portal, and immediately I did, my field of vision changed, and I felt the portal closed behind me.
I was falling, and I allowed gravity to do its thing until I was just a few meters away when I activated <Grand Flight> and hovered before I struck the ground. I landed behind a multitude of trees, and with my heightened sight, I could see sturdy huts kilometers away.
I spotted a member of the alliance behind a tree just by me, and one by one, I spotted the others save for Lucy and Caleb. They had gone ahead.
The members of the alliance had a signature black outfit on which I suppose was prime for a stealthy operation. I was simply in the tunic shirt and trousers I had on earlier.
I then spotted Park on a tree far ahead, just before the town. He sat hidden behind branches as he observed the residents.
A blue glow encompassed me and suddenly, I was beside him. I startled him but nothing more. We both spied on the town's residents. Nothing seemed out of place, there was hardly anything out of interest. The dragon kin were low on spirits as I suspected.
'They must have acquired losses.' I concluded.
I couldn't spot Lucy Fer or Caleb anywhere however, neither did they leave signs that they were here. We hadn't decided on a chain of command except for Lizbella's instructions. Speaking of Lizbella, we were linked via her ability, I could ask where Lucy and Caleb went from the others without uttering a single word, and I did just that.
'Where is Caleb and Lucy?'
I expected Park or someone of the alliance to reply when I sensed Lizbella's voice echo through my mind.
"They teleported to the door I lost my connection with the spies we had sent. I cannot feel them anymore."
That frankly was reckless but I couldn't find it within myself to scold Lucy or Caleb. They were smarter than I was, and there was no way to approach that hut without going through the door so we would go through it eventually.
That meant we were left to clean up these dragon kins. I smirked at this, and held up my hand. There was quite the number of experience points to gain from these ugly fuckers.
"I will deal with these dragon kin."
As soon as I said those words, a yellow energy leaked from my skin and encompassed me. I zoomed up and went to the sky. I got to the front of the town, and I bet I seemed like a star with how bright I shone which in retrospect might have been a terrible idea, I could have given out our plan too soon, and probably gotten some unwelcomed intervention.
That didn't happen however. I held out my fists and energy surged within them, bursting out into large balls, and I clapped my hands releasing hundreds of destructive streaks of energy falling into their town. Honestly, I had expected my skill to somehow freeze over the town. I had expected someone powerful to intervene, but none of that happened, and my attacks fell with unrelenting fierceness.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
They struck indefinitely, swallowing everything they struck in their destructive embrace, and instantly undoing them. I heard wails, cries and rumbles but none of it mattered. I watched as my energy blasts laid waste to a civilization, the dragon kin were helpless and I got shown how much power I wielded. I looked at my hands, clenching my fists. The attack hadn't lessened my energy reserve in the slightest, I was still in my peak state whereas the people down there burned.
The entire town was decimated, and the people burnt. However, in all of this, a structure remained untouched: the hut Lucy and Caleb had entered.
