The Dreamer's POV

Chapter 278: Fire Through The Heart

I jumped down from the arch and began walking to this strange powerful creature. A loud thump sound was made as my feet struck the ground.

"Wo, woo." I let out as it seemed that I might lose my balance. The ground was shaky, unstable, like a fluid was beneath it and the rock piece was afloat.

I looked at the Warbeast and it, or rather he, remained unmoving, its eyes were fixed at me but I sensed no malice or ill intention from them and so, I walked to him.

I then jumped, crossing the distance and landing just a few meters away.

"Hmmm…"

The Warbeast snorted, and I saw the flames licking the bones of its left side lit up.

"I have you where I want you now." It said, reclined and held a blow.

I was surprised by this, my eyes opened wide, but it wasn't a problem. The blow came for my face, fist coated with flames and it neared my face when I threw up both my hands to block the blow.

I blocked the punch, suffering just a mild pain from the blow, and once the Warbeast man withdrew his blow, I slowly let down my arms, and smiled.

I sent forward my blow, and landed it squarely on its torso. Air escaped its mouth from the strike, I wanted to follow with another but I stopped, realizing that I would just beat it up if I were to continue, and so I stopped and jumped back, creating a distance between us.

After catching its breath, it managed to utter some words, "I'll end you too." It said with conviction in its eyes.

"What are you…" before I could complete my question however, it stormed at it, raising to the side its skeleton fiery arm and forming a flamey spear.

It lunged at me, but I was able to surge energy within me, greatly improving my senses, and I drifted, sidestepping and escaping the blow.

I sent an energy coated punch to its mouth but it reacted swiftly to block, stopping my blow with its spear. My punch however broke through the spear and landed squarely on the face of the Warbeast and it gagged from the pain, backstepping and jumping back to create some distance.

Usually, I would end an opponent before they had the opportunity to retreat as he had done, but I didn't feel that way exchanging blows with this creature. From what I had seen it do, it seemed good and though I was judged to be evil by the system, I wouldn't enjoy killing one who had managed to survive this terrible place for so long, I didn't think I could.

'Could a person die in hell?' People were meant to suffer for all eternity so that should probably mean that they live through that eternity, and if that was the case, this Warbeast was eternal, in a sense.

"Why are you attacking?" I cried, exhibiting more patience than was typical of me.

"You ooze of evil you demon, just like the worms, I'll end all evil in these parts, I've tempered the hell flames." It said with a slithery voice, with a cunning to it.

'Wait, it thinks I'm evil?!' I scratched my head.

"Well, I suppose there's some truth to that."

It stormed forth once more, morphing its hellfire into large claymores. Continue reading at empire

I smirked, uttering the word, "Come."

I casually threw forth my palm, and a surge of energy burst forth from it, zooming at high speeds.

I saw its surprise, and it stopped, and sidestepped.

Unfortunately, it was too slow. My blast hit it slightly on its right side, and that place burned.

It screamed in pain, my energy attack had eaten up every part it had struck, its right arm was no more, a chunk of its right flank, and a graze on its cheek.

'That was stronger than I intended.'

Its eyes were fixed on its new scars, and then abruptly, it looked to me, anger and hate in its eyes.

"Oh come on. You asked for this."

"I will purify you, and all of this place."

"Well, I'd like to see you try."

I had used up all of my patience, and it was getting to my nerves now.

It remained in its position and shot some fiery arrows my way. I stood, unbothered by their arrival.

My energy field absorbed the attacks, mildly feeding it. I lunged my hand and lines of energy shot out from my fingers and zoomed at my target.

'Oh, it has gotten faster.'

The Warbeast dodged the attacks, however, just barely. It galloped and galloped, eyes red with rage and pain, and a long spear in the fleshless hand of its.

"Oh, I have entertained this long enough." I exclaimed, and a large streak of energy shot out from my body and swallowed the Warbeast.

When the energy attack disappeared, only its hooves remained, and a smile crept up on my face.

"You brought this on yourself. A shame, you were so cool." I said, about to take a step forward when I felt a chill, a presence was right behind me, I could feel it.

And true to my intuition, there it was, the Warbeast. Its hair had burned off, but aside from that, it hadn't sustained damage from my attack.

It raised its front legs, and drove down the spear. This move of it caught me by great surprise, I was momentarily stunned.

It had somehow sunk into the ground, and then phased through the surface behind me.

The spear went right through my heart, and I felt a great heat through my body.

I saw the Warbeast's smirk before my entire body went aflame.
