The Dragon's Mandate

Chapter 15: You're looking for trouble

Sitting calmly in his grand chair, Hector Zhang frowned. "Who would dare be so bold?"

"Master, it's the same people who delivered... the coffin the other day!" the guard stammered, his voice trembling.

"Oh? They arrived quite quickly!" Hector Zhang remarked just as a loud crash echoed, and a guard's body was kicked into the hall.

"Mas..." The guard couldn't finish his sentence before he died.

Hector didn't spare a glance at the body on the floor, maintaining a composed demeanor as he assessed Navid Byrd and Lira, his eyes brimming with confidence.

"Young people, confidence is good, but overconfidence can be your downfall," Hector said, clapping his hands three times softly.

In an instant, Robert Zhang and Daniel Zhang, each leading dozens of guards, burst in from upstairs and outside, while Toby Zhang entered the hall with a sinister grin.

Navid Byrd didn't even glance at the guards. He directly addressed Hector Zhang, "Where is the person?

"Navid Byrd, who do you think you are? How dare you make a scene at the Zhang family estate?

Even if that ugly woman and the brat are here, what can you do to us? You two can't even protect yourselves, and yet you demand people from us?" Toby Zhang sneered with disdain.

Surrounded by dozens of armed guards from the Zhang family, Navid and Lira seemed to have no way out.

Soon, a few men in black dragged a disheveled Priya Yarrow and a bloodied little girl into the hall.

"See that? This is what happens when you go against the Zhang family!" Toby said, lifting his foot to press down on Priya's bloody arm, his smile twisted and cruel.

Navid's eyes burned with rage as he clenched his jaw, his fists cracking with tension, and a terrifying aura of fury emanated from him.

"You think you can bully my woman and get away with it?"

Before the words even finished, Navid's arm shot out, suddenly appearing in front of Toby, grabbing him by the throat and yanking him close.

Thud!

Toby was forced to kneel as Navid pressed down on his shoulder.

With a sickening crack, Toby's knee shattered, and he let out an agonizing scream.

Navid's attack was so sudden that the Zhang family's guards were caught completely off guard. They never expected Navid to strike so boldly while surrounded.

Ignoring Toby's cries, Navid lifted his foot and slammed it down on Toby's head, driving it into the ground.

With a loud thud, Toby's nose broke instantly, and blood splattered everywhere.

His head was gashed open in several places by the broken bricks on the ground, and blood started pouring out immediately. The crowd in the hall was stunned. Navid Byrd acted decisively and with brutal force. Toby Zhang, overwhelmed by the pain, had already passed out, his screams abruptly silenced.

"How dare you! A stray from the Byrd family, causing trouble in the Zhang household! You're asking for death!" Robert Zhang was furious, seeing his son beaten half to death.

Navid didn't even bother to glance at him. He lifted his leg and stomped on Toby's shoulder blade, a sharp crack echoing through the hall. Toby, who had fainted from the pain, let out another agonizing scream.

"Ah... what... what do you want! Stop it!" Toby screamed, his voice filled with despair.

Navid was unmoved. He grabbed Toby by the hair and lifted him off the ground, his voice cold as ice. "Who hurt my wife and daughter? Tell me! Who gave the Zhang family the courage to lay a hand on Navid Byrd's family?"

As he spoke, Navid kicked Toby in the chest. Another crack sounded as Toby's ribcage shattered. His chest caved in, and a mixture of blood and bits of his insides spilled from his mouth.

"Stop!" Hector Zhang, who had remained calm until now, couldn't sit still any longer. The Zhang family was used to being the aggressors, but Navid was torturing his grandson right in front of him.

"Stop it, or I swear I'll kill you and your whole family!" Robert Zhang's eyes were wide with rage as he lunged at Navid.

He came fast, but he went even faster. Navid didn't even look at him. With a swift, precise kick, he sent Robert flying backward like a cannonball.

Bang!!! Robert Zhang's body slammed into the wall with such force that cracks appeared behind him.

"Ugh!"

He coughed up a mouthful of blood and immediately passed out.

Navid Byrd slowly turned his head, casting a cold glance at the Zhang family members. "I suggest you don't act rashly, or I might just accidentally send him to his grave!"

"Navid Byrd, if you dare harm a member of my family, tonight, your entire family will pay with their lives for my grandson!" Hector Zhang stood up, leaning heavily on his cane, trembling with rage.

"Is that so!" Navid Byrd growled, tightening his grip around Toby Zhang's neck. As Navid's fingers squeezed harder, Toby's face turned a ghastly shade, struggling desperately but unable to break free.

His complexion shifted from red to a dark purple, veins bulging prominently on his forehead. "Bring my wife and daughter here, or he dies!" Navid's voice was as cold as death itself, devoid of any emotion.

"Quick, give them to him, give them to him!" Hector Zhang panicked. Toby was his favorite grandson; he couldn't just stand by and watch him be tortured to death by Navid.

"Navid Byrd!" "Daddy!" The moment the guards released Priya Yarrow and her daughter, they rushed toward Navid. Lira quickly stepped forward, shielding the mother and daughter behind her.

Seeing his family safe, Navid flung Toby to the ground with a forceful throw. Toby let out a pained cry, vomiting a large amount of blood as if his very insides were being expelled.

"Navid Byrd! How dare you! Seize him!" Shouted Zhang slammed his hand on the table, pointing at Navid and shouting furiously at the guards.

Bang! With a deafening noise, a bullet struck the ground less than an inch from Toby, sending shards of tile flying. New cuts appeared on Toby's face, adding to his agony.

"I suggest you all stay still, or the next bullet won't just hit the ground!" Lira's voice was icy as she spoke.

Navid Byrd turned around, his face filled with concern, and wrapped his arms around the terrified Priya Yarrow. "Don't worry," he promised. "I swear, from now on, I won't let anyone bully you, not even if they're as powerful as a king!"

Those words, which Priya had heard before, now filled her with warmth. Navid's display of strength was astonishing, and it made her believe that his words were not just empty promises.

"Let's see how you walk out of the Zhang family today!" Daniel Zhang shouted angrily at Navid.

"We're just two people, and the Zhang family needs dozens of guns to feel brave? Let's see who dares to pull the trigger!" Navid's lips curled into an amused smile as he strode confidently toward the door.

Priya, holding her child, followed Navid closely, feeling surprisingly unafraid.

Everyone present was stunned as Navid walked steadily toward the exit, and the Zhang Family's guards instinctively parted to make way.

"Dad, we can't let him leave the Zhang family like this! Where will our dignity go?" Robert Zhang yelled, pointing at Navid's retreating figure.

"Stop them! If they take another step, shoot them on the spot!" Hector Zhang, leaning on his cane, shouted in fury.

The guards all drew their guns, aiming at Navid.

But just as they did, a series of rapid gunshots echoed around the Zhang family estate, and the guards fell one by one.

"Forgot to mention, I have people too, and I have guns!" Navid said with a cold smile, glancing at Hector.

At that moment, a white blur flashed at the door, and a glint of steel aimed straight for Navid. He tilted his head slightly, and a three-foot-long sword narrowly missed his cheek.

Turning his head, Navid saw an elderly man in a white martial arts uniform, holding the sword, standing just ten feet away.

The old man, around sixty, had eyes as sharp as knives. Just standing there, he exuded an overwhelming presence.

"Arrogant brat, how dare you cause trouble in the Zhang family!" he declared proudly.

Seeing the elder appear, the Zhang family members were overjoyed. Even Robert Zhang, who had been beaten and was coughing up blood, seemed revitalized. He pointed at Navid Byrd and said viciously, "Darrion! You're just in time, take him down!"

The entire Zhang family clearly had immense confidence in Darrion. His movements and sword skills marked him as a top-tier expert.

"Does the Zhang family have such a master?" Navid gestured toward the night sky outside, and countless red dots aimed at Darrion's back disappeared.

"With me here, you better kneel and beg for mercy! If you don't know what's good for you, don't blame me for being ruthless!" Darrion glared coldly at Navid.

"Old man, you should find a quiet place to retire. This fighting business isn't for you anymore," Navid mocked with a cold voice.

"Arrogant!"

Darrion roared, leaping up. Instead of using his sword, he aimed a palm strike directly at Navid's chest.

"With those weak moves, you think you can make me kneel?" Navid sneered, pushing off the ground with his toes, his body shooting upward as his left leg rose high.

Seeing this, Darrion smirked, "One palm from me, and you'll be crippled!"
