Chapter 353: Chapter 351: How Did You Tame the Little Wild Cat, Erina?
Today's theme for the meal was rice.
The main course was grilled eel rice, served with a side of five sushi pieces, followed by a dessert of rice dumplings, accompanied by a glass of fresh juice. All the dishes were made using jet-black rice.
"This rice... what kind is it? It's absolutely delicious. Even on its own, it's extraordinary," a guest remarked in astonishment.
"The grilled eel is so crispy and flavorful, and the juice pairs perfectly with it!" another chimed in.
"I've never tasted rice this good before," a newcomer marveled. "It's absolutely heavenly."
Once again, Sui's dishes amazed his guests. Those who had come to the restaurant after hearing the hype found themselves pleasantly surprised—but with a pang of regret. They couldn't help but lament not discovering this hidden gem sooner, having missed out on the exquisite dishes served over the past two days.
"This eel rice is incredible," Leonora said with a satisfied smile, savoring her meal. "It's even better than what Alice usually makes."
Normally, dinner at the Nakiri household was prepared by Alice herself. However, after Sui had gifted them a generous supply of the unique black rice, both mother and daughter had made it a staple in their daily meals.
"What? My cooking's just as good!" Alice pouted, displeased.
"Sui, give me more rice!" Rindō exclaimed, setting down her large empty bowl and licking the rice grains from her lips. Her appetite had clearly not been satisfied.
Sui couldn't help but feel a little speechless. "Didn't you stock up on rice at the Autumn Leaf Viewing?"
"It's all gone," Rindō said with a lick of her lips, urging, "Come on, Kohai, give me more food."
"I want some too!" Alice added, raising her empty bowl with a grin.
"Sui-kun, could I have some more sushi as well?" Leonora asked with a smile, her appetite seemingly boundless as well.
Sui smiled at his mother-in-law. "Of course."
Leonora had a particularly good appetite today, having devoured all her sushi and rice dumplings. "The juice is amazing too," she commented, glancing regretfully at her now-empty cup.
"If you like, I can give you more later," Sui replied with a chuckle. The juice he brewed with Shuckle was plentiful, and neither he nor Erina could possibly finish it all. There was still plenty chilling in the refrigerator.
Leonora's eyes lit up. "Really? Thank you so much!" she beamed, then leaned over to give Sui a light kiss on the cheek in gratitude.
Sui wiped his damp cheek, feeling a bit helpless. Having a mother-in-law with such a girlish personality could be both charming and slightly overwhelming at times.
The guests, full and content, praised the food. Some suggested adding more seats to the restaurant, but Sui declined. The space simply couldn't accommodate any more patrons.
Instead, Sui made an announcement: the admission fee would be increased from 100,000 to 200,000 yen, effective immediately. There were simply too many reservation requests, and he needed to manage the demand.
The guests didn't mind in the slightest. For them, 100,000 yen was a small price to pay for such exceptional food. In fact, many felt the price was too low for the rare ingredients and extraordinary culinary experience. Word on the street was that seats at Sui's restaurant were going for as much as 600,000 yen on the black market, and prices were expected to climb even higher in the coming days.
Still, Sui didn't increase the price for the elite ten graduates like Hinako and her companion; their rate remained at 100,000 yen. And, of course, Leonora and the rest of the family ate for free.
After cleaning up the restaurant, Sui, accompanied by Megumi and the others, headed next door to Erina's restaurant for dinner, as was their custom.
As soon as Sui sat down in his usual seat, Erina approached him with a gentle smile. "Sui, are you finished? Dinner will be served shortly," she said, gracefully pouring him some tea and handing him a towel. "Would you like some fruit as well?"
Rindō, Megumi, and the others exchanged bewildered glances.
Erina, blushing under their scrutiny, whispered, "Why are you all looking at me like that?"
"Didn't you two have a fight?" Rindō asked with a teasing grin. "How did you manage to tame the little wildcat, Erina, and turn her into such a docile house cat in just one night?"
The others nodded in agreement, their curiosity piqued.
"Wh-who's a wildcat or a house cat?!" Erina stammered, her cheeks turning crimson as she stamped her foot in protest.
"Well, it's a long story," Sui said with a smirk, taking a sip of water.
"Don't you dare!" Erina shot back, her face flushed with embarrassment. She stomped down on Sui's foot under the table in frustration.
"I didn't say anything!" Sui protested, rubbing his foot. "I was just referring to the foot massage I gave you."
"Wait, what? You massaged Miss Erina's feet?" Megumi gasped in surprise.
"Sui, you're such a scoundrel!" Alice interjected with a hint of jealousy.
Miyoko and Nao also looked at Erina with envious eyes.
"Well, kohai, how did Erina's feet feel?" Rindō asked with a mischievous grin, patting Sui on the shoulder.
Sui nodded thoughtfully. "They were soft and smooth. Really nice."
Erina's face burned with embarrassment, her cheeks so red it seemed like they might burst. She glanced down at her feet, feeling as if she had done something wrong.
Thankfully, Sui hadn't mentioned what happened 'after' the foot massage. She felt a small sense of relief at that.
"I didn't realize you were so good at taming Erina," Rindō teased, patting him on the back.
"Of course," Sui replied proudly.
Erina gritted her teeth, frustrated by his boastful attitude, and stomped on his foot again.
"I never would have thought that someone as proud as Erina would be tamed and become a doting wife. It's true what they say—marriage is a girl's grave," Rindō sighed dramatically.
"Wh-who's a wife?!" Erina muttered under her breath, trying to defend herself, though the sweet undertone in her voice betrayed her embarrassment.
"But, Rindō-senpai, don't you plan to get married one day?" Megumi asked with a smile.
