The Domineering Female CEO

Chapter 42: Chapter 42

Xaviers pov

I settled into my plush hotel bed, feeling a sense of relief wash over me as I dialed Eliana's number. We had only been apart for a day, but it already felt like an eternity.

As the FaceTime call connected, I couldn't help but grin at the sight of Eliana's beautiful face on my screen. She looked stunning, as always, with her long hair cascading down her back and her bright smile lighting up the room.

I was shirtless, having just finished a workout in my hotel room, and I couldn't help but notice Eliana's eyes flicker to my chest before she quickly looked away, a blush rising to her cheeks. I chuckled to myself, feeling a sense of satisfaction at being able to make her blush.

As we chatted, I gave her a tour of my hotel room, showing her the luxurious decor and the door that shared a suite with Elvis Presley's room. Eliana laughed and teased me about covering the presence of royalty, and I chuckled, feeling happy and carefree.

As we talked, I filled her in on my schedule and my first scene, and she listened intently, asking thoughtful questions and offering words of encouragement. I felt grateful to have her in my life, to have someone who believed in me and supported me every step of the way.

When I finished talking about my day, I asked Eliana about hers. She seemed hesitant to talk about it, and I sensed that something was bothering her. But when I asked her if everything was okay, she just nodded and smiled, telling me that everything was fine.

I wasn't convinced, but I didn't push the issue. Instead, I just smiled and told her that I loved her. As we wrapped up our call, I blew her a kiss, and she pretended to catch it, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

As I ended the call and settled back into my bed, I couldn't help but feel grateful for Eliana and the love we shared. She was my rock, my confidante, and my soulmate. And I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together, as a team.

I lay in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling as I replayed my conversation with Eliana from earlier that night. I couldn't help but feel a sense of longing and frustration, knowing that I was thousands of miles away from the woman I loved.

As I drifted off to sleep, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Eliana had seemed a bit distant during our call, and I couldn't help but wonder if everything was okay.

The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed and focused. I got dressed and headed downstairs, where I met up with Elvis, who was already sipping on a cup of coffee.

"Morning, Xav," he said, flashing me a bright smile. "Ready to tackle the day?"

I nodded, grabbing a quick breakfast before we set off for the movie location. As we drove, Elvis and I chatted about the day's schedule and the scenes we would be filming.

As we arrived on set, I couldn't help but feel a pang of loneliness. Eliana was still thousands of miles away, and I missed her terribly. I pulled out my phone and sent her a quick text, hoping to catch her before her day got busy.

I went about my day, focusing on my scenes and trying to push thoughts of Eliana to the back of my mind. But it was no use - she was always on my mind, and I couldn't wait until we could be together again.

Eliana's pov

I settled into my routine, finishing up the workday and heading home to unwind. As I showered and changed into my cozy pyjamas, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. It had been a long day, and I was looking forward to a quiet evening at home.

As I walked into my bedroom, I spotted my phone on the nightstand, and suddenly, I was flooded with memories of the day's events. I had received a notification from the long-awaited business conference, and I had gotten so caught up in reading the invitation that I had forgotten to reply to Xavier's message.

I quickly grabbed my phone and was shocked to see a flurry of messages and missed calls from Xavier. My heart sank as I realized I had unintentionally ignored him.

I quickly called him, hoping he would answer. The phone rang a few times before he picked up, sounding angry and frustrated.

"Hey," he said curtly. "I've been trying to reach you all day. What's going on?"

I took a deep breath, feeling a mix of guilt and anxiety. "I'm so sorry, Xavier. I got caught up in work and forgot to check my phone. And then I got a notification from the business conference and...I just spaced out, I guess."

There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, I worried that Xavier was still upset with me. But then, his tone softened, and he spoke in a gentle, teasing voice.

"Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who can be a little forgetful sometimes. But next time, please don't forget about me, okay?"

I laughed, feeling a wave of relief wash over me. "I promise, I promise. I'll never forget about you again."

"Okay," I replied, smiling at the term of endearment. "Talk to you later, baby. Be careful on set, and don't forget to eat something."

Xavier chuckled. "I will, I will. Love you, Eliana."

"Love you too, Xavier," I replied, feeling a warmth in my heart.

As we said our goodbyes, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the love we shared. Despite the distance between us, Xavier always made me feel seen and loved.

I hung up the phone and settled into my bed, feeling content and relaxed. I closed my eyes, a smile still on my face, and let the sound of Xavier's voice lull me into a peaceful sleep.

Two weeks had felt like an eternity since I last saw Xavier McKinney. Despite our daily texts and FaceTime calls, I couldn't help but feel a deep longing to be with him again. But for now, I had to focus on the long-awaited business conference that was finally here.

I stood in front of the mirror, smoothing out my elegant black dress and making sure my hair was perfectly styled. Royalty, my loyal assistant, stood beside me, giving me a final once-over before nodding in approval.

"Perfect, Eliana," she said, smiling. "You're going to knock them dead."

I smiled back at her, feeling a surge of confidence. We were accompanied by two burly bodyguards, who stood discreetly by the door as we made our way to the conference room.

As we entered the crowded room, I was immediately struck by the sea of familiar faces. Many of my late father's old friends and colleagues were in attendance, and I made my way over to greet them.

They were delighted to see me, and they showered me with praise and congratulations on the success of my father's business. I had worked tirelessly to grow the company, and it was gratifying to know that my efforts had not gone unnoticed.

One of my father's old friends, a kind-eyed man named Mr. Johnson, took my hand in his and looked at me with tears in his eyes. "Your father would be so proud of you, Eliana," he said, his voice trembling. "You've done an amazing job with the company. We're all so proud of you."

I felt a lump form in my throat as I smiled brightly at him. "Thank you, Mr. Johnson," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "That means a lot to me."

He patted my hand reassuringly. "You can always come to us, Eliana, anytime, any day. We'll never hesitate to help you. Your father was like a brother to us, and we'll always look out for you."

As I walked around the conference room with Royalty, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. The initial greetings and conversations had gone smoothly, and I was starting to feel more at ease.

But that sense of relief was short-lived. As I turned a corner, I heard someone call my name. I turned to see Alexander standing in front of me, a smarmy smile spreading across his face.

I frowned, feeling a sense of unease. "Hi," I said curtly, trying to keep my distance.

But Alexander was undeterred. He walked towards me, taking my arm in his. I felt a surge of discomfort and tried to pull away, but Alexander's grip was firm.

I glanced around, noticing the curious glances from the people around us. I didn't want to create a scene, so I reluctantly stayed still, trying to think of a way to extricate myself from the situation.

"Alexander, can you please let my hand go?" I asked, trying to keep my tone light.

But Alexander just smiled, pretending not to hear me. Royalty, sensing my distress, stepped forward.

"Mr. Alexander, Eliana and I need to catch up. Can you please let her go?" she asked, her voice firm but polite.

Alexander stared down at Royalty, his expression unreadable. For a few tense moments, it seemed like he was going to refuse. But then, just as suddenly, he dropped my arm and stepped back.

The reprieve was short-lived, however. Almost immediately, a group of paparazzi rushed towards us, cameras flashing and questions being shouted.

Alexander smiled, seeming to relish the attention. "Someone I want and like," he said, his voice dripping with condescension.

I felt a surge of disgust and humiliation. I wanted to cry out for him to leave me alone, but I bit my tongue, determined not to give him the satisfaction of getting a rise out of me. Instead, I just stared down at his hand, still feeling the lingering sensation of his touch, and felt a wave of revulsion wash over me.

I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing nonstop. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, wondering what was going on. Royalty rushed into my room, looking frantic, and handed me her phone.

"Look at this," she said, her voice trembling.

I took the phone from her and read the headline: "Billionaire Alexander Spotted with Late Daughter of Damien Group of Companies, Holding Hands. Billionaire Alexander Introduces Her as Someone He Wants and Likes."

My eyes widened in shock as I read the article. I had no idea that the paparazzi had captured the moment when Alexander had taken my hand. I felt a wave of panic wash over me as I thought about Xavier seeing this.

I quickly checked my call history and saw that Xavier had been trying to reach me. I felt a surge of fear and anxiety as I realized that he must have seen the news.

I called him back immediately, my heart racing with anticipation. Please don't let him think that there's anything going on between Alexander and me, I thought to myself.

As the phone rang, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, preparing myself for the conversation that was about to ensue.

I heard Xavier's voice on the phone, his tone laced with concern and anger. "What's going on, Eliana? Why am I seeing you in the news with Alexander? What's wrong with you? I thought I asked you to avoid him."

I took a deep breath, trying to explain the situation. "No, no, babe, that's not what really happened. I didn't want to hold hands with him, it just happened. I was trapped in a situation, and I didn't know how to get out of it."

But Xavier wasn't having it. His voice turned stern. "Eliana, is either you come to Sky City now, or I come to Jai City. I need to see you, and I need to know what's going on."

Before I could respond, he ended the call abruptly, leaving me feeling shocked and worried. Had I lost Xavier's trust? Would he ever forgive me?

I turned to Royalty, a sense of determination and urgency in my voice. "Please arrange a month's leave for both of us at work, and for Jason at school. I think the marriage will come a bit earlier than expected."

Royalty's eyes widened slightly, but she nodded without hesitation. "Right away, Eliana," she said, already pulling out her phone to start making the necessary arrangements.

As she quickly left the room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. I was about to embark on a journey that would change my life forever. I was going to Sky City to face Xavier, and to possibly accelerate our marriage plans.

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was to come. I knew that I had to be strong, not just for myself, but for Xavier and our future together.
