Chapter 5: Trouble Comes Knocking
Adrian felt that Jasper was a very unreadable person. Even though he predicted that with how extraordinary the pond of golden water was, it would warrant a scold from Jasper if he was caught playing around it, the way it happened wasn't exactly how he imagined.
Adrian was prepared for a direct wash of emotions and even if Jasper were to shout through his intestines, his heart could still bear its impact. But this sort of approach was way colder.
Adrian didn't even realize when tears began dripping from his eyes because of the weight of the threat. He had only taken a bath in the golden water pond, there was nothing sacrilegious about that to warrant his death.
The way Jasper even let out the word 'DEAD', it was as though he would rip out Adrian's heart while staring at his face with a smile. He was too creepy, too scary, weird and abnormal. The thought of being alone with him in the castle made him feel sick.
After putting up pieces of his heart together again, Adrian found the strength and courage to go back to his room. He shut the door behind him forcibly and sighed afterwards.
He quickly adjusted his rough dress and changed to one of the many two-pieced black sorcerer garments he saw in his wardrobe.
It was a set of a garment and coat knitted together.
Just looking at the material of the garment alone, it was easy to tell that Jasper was the extravagant one.
The wool in it was cast from a high tiered magical beast making it super durable and also resistant to common magical spells. There was also traces of dark gold in it for the buttons and hooks.
In terms of mortal calculation, the garment would be worth several hundreds of thousands of gold coins. However, it was left for Adrian to put on as a casual servant uniform.
Pathetic indeed!
After putting on the coat, Adrian felt very warm in it , considering that it was the best option for the night.
Adrian also felt very weird when he thought of how messy the view was from within the castle. Everywhere was cloudy and even the moon was in eye's view.
As Adrian watched the moon, he felt his mind clearing up and a wave of relaxation flooded his heart. Before long, he dozed off in bed.
After such a boring and exhausting day, it was understandable that he had fallen asleep early.
On the other end, Jasper who had just scolded Adrian happened to be outside the castle. He was meditating right on the rooftop of the castle.
A rainbow halo surrounded him as his hands flicked out several runes at a time. There was a purple sword laying on his laps and some of the runes he cast would float back and hover above the sword.
Jasper did all of this with his eyes closed, his mind appeared to be in a different dimension as his body casted rune after rune without stopping. He didn't even flinch when his hair messily blew all over his face due to the cold night wind.
And from how great he was at doing things, it was obvious this had been his routine for decades.
Meanwhile, Adrian was cozied up in bed enjoying a dream. Dreams like these were what he longed for since he ended up in Jasper's hell.
In this dream, Adrian saw himself and Jasper fighting side by side against a monster with six eyes. This monster wasn't even homely to his mind but the experience of fighting it was so real.
Of the monster's six eyes, a pair was black, the second was white and the last was grey. The black was used for its sight. The white pair could emit light beams comparable to mini suns in terms of destruction. As for the grey pair, it was an illusion web.
Many times, in between their fights, Adrian and Jasper would get sucked in by the grey eyes at times when they least expected. Each time they came out of an illusion, they would be bombarded by its mini sun explosions.
The fight got messier and messier but neither side won. However, Adrian felt content in the dream as he had so much more magical power compared to his true self.
Left to Adrian, he didn't wish to exit this dream where he was powerful enough to face off against a legendary monster.
Well, trouble came knocking eventually.
Midway through Adrian's sleep, a blue matter popped out from the ground in his bedroom. The blue matter began warping and morphing at the same time. Before one could tell, the blue matter had become a strange looking pixie.
The pixie had thin wings like a wasp, its eyes were round and blue. It's whole skin was blue even till its hair. The only thing that wasn't blue was its transparent wings.
The pixie flew to Adrian's bed, a frosty expression on its face. It was actually very tiny, so tiny that even a baby that was just a day old, was taller than it.
However, as soon as it appeared, the energy in the room changed. It became really gloomy and depressing. The blue pixie just stood by Adrian's bed side flapping its vile looking wings continuously.
CRASH!!!
A lot of things became messy due to the effect of its flapping wings. The scene was like a ghost commanding chaos, only that it was a blue pixie in charge this time.
Furniture was tossed here and there and soon after, various objects ranging from glass to nails and even bigger metals became fierce projectiles flying all over the place.
In all of the chaos, Adrian had yet to wake up despite how loud the commotion was as the pixie's aura overshadowed his magical perception.
Next, the pixie grinned and flew closer to Adrian. A bluish swirl of energy danced on its webbed hands, ready to pop out at anytime.
