THE DESCENT OF EVIL GODS

Chapter 11: Forging the Path to Power

The grand conference hall of Huaxia's highest government officials was supposed to be a place of calculated diplomacy and strategic planning. But today, it had become the battleground of an unseen war—one between knowledge and ignorance, survival and denial.

Su Chen stood at the center of the room, his presence as overwhelming as the storm raging in his mind. These people held the fate of Huaxia in their hands, and he had no time for their doubts.

The President of Huaxia, a man of iron will and keen intellect, studied him with cold, assessing eyes. "You claim that in two months, gods will descend upon our world," he said, his voice carefully neutral. "And that only you can stop them?"

Su Chen met his gaze without hesitation. "No. Not just me. But I am the only one who knows what's coming, and the only one who can ensure we are ready."

Murmurs spread among the military generals and officials seated at the long table. Some whispered their disbelief. Others remained quiet, waiting for Su Chen to prove himself.

One of the top military officers, a burly man with graying hair, slammed his hand on the table. "And why should we trust the word of a single man? Where is your proof?"

Su Chen expected this reaction. Humans only believed what they could see.

With a flick of his wrist, a powerful golden sigil materialized beneath his feet.

The air crackled with energy, and an oppressive force spread throughout the room. In an instant, a translucent dome of flickering golden light expanded, trapping everyone inside.

Then—

The pressure intensified.

The officials gasped as their bodies felt like they were being crushed under a thousand tons of weight. Some collapsed to their knees, their faces turning red as they struggled to breathe. The strongest warriors among them gritted their teeth, veins bulging as they fought against the unnatural force.

Ten times normal gravity.

That was what they were experiencing.

Yet Su Chen stood unaffected, his expression calm and composed.

"This is a forbidden spell," he said, his voice echoing across the room. "One that should take weeks to cast. I can do it instantly, without cooldown."

The officials' eyes widened in horror.

Some desperately tried to circulate their mana to resist the force, only to find it completely suppressed. Their pride, their power—it was meaningless before Su Chen.

One of the leading scientists, Professor Zhang, a renowned scholar in awakenings, gasped, "Impossible…! No mage should have this kind of power!"

Su Chen smirked. "Now do you understand?"

With a mere thought, the dome vanished, and the room returned to normal. The officials gasped for air, some clutching their chests as if they had just escaped death itself.

The burly general, now drenched in sweat, stared at Su Chen in silence.

Fear. Respect. Acknowledgment.

The entire room had shifted.

The President took a deep breath and folded his hands together. "What do you want?"

Su Chen did not hesitate.

"First, I need absolute authority to train and awaken as many warriors as possible," he said. "I will personally train a core force, but the rest must be trained through an academy."

"Second, I need access to all military resources—artifacts, potions, weapons—anything that can strengthen our forces."

"Third, we must announce the truth to the people. The citizens of Huaxia deserve to know what is coming so they can prepare."

Silence stretched across the room.

Su Chen knew these demands were bold. Too bold.

Giving a single man this much authority was unprecedented.

But this was war.

The President closed his eyes for a long moment, thinking. Then, he exhaled sharply and opened them, his gaze sharp as a blade.

"Very well," he said. "Your demands are granted."

Su Chen nodded. He had expected resistance, but the undeniable truth of his power had left them with no choice.

A storm was coming.

And now, Huaxia would be ready.
