The Dark Dragon's Vessel.

Chapter 33: Traitor

Revenge is a word used by many, yet only a minority are able to achieve it. Some forgive, like some beautiful angels, they don't let evil disturb their hearts, many would go so far as trying to create a relationship with their wrongdoer. But like everything else in life, there are some who do the opposite, they cherish that evil, happily letting it in their hearts. These people can vary, even the purest soul can break itself to get its revenge. And even the darkest soul can forgive, letting go of that revenge.

But along with these two groups, there's one more—one that chases revenge their whole lives. For them, it's the most important thing in life. This desire doesn't let them die; it grips your leg with its long and dark arm and pulls you down from the sky back to your body. It becomes like a chain, bonded to its host, like a curse.

The darkness started withering, as his vision began becoming clearer, light shining into his green eyes like some crystals. He looked at his arms, covered in blood and with splinters stuck inside his skin. A black liquid covered his deeper wounds, those parts worked like normal, and it was good enough to keep him alive, yet it couldn't prevent the pain. He let his hand fall and laughed.

'You did a good job Azel. I would have probably died.'

He tried getting up, but his legs kept trembling, his bones holding on to dear life. He used the wall to help himself, and he finally conquered the pain and got up.

He slowly started walking, blood starting to flow from wounds that weren't healed enough before he started his attempts to get on his feet.

He opened the worn-down door, beyond it was an empty Inn, it also was barely standing on its feet. His eyes were drawn by a lonely note on a table that was missing most of his legs, he squired his way to it, and with his hand shaking, he picked it up.

[Hello Max! So you probably just woke up and are very confused, so I'll hurry up. As you can see, we left early, Alberta made this decision saying that you can catch up with your drive. We're in the capital. Weird thing to note, she didn't want me to leave you this note.

With hate, your lovely princess, Elizabeth Alter.]

'The capital? That's on the other side of the kingdom. But still thank's Liz, I'll make sure to make it up to you when I get there.' A grin curled up, and the shadows perfectly aligned to make his face darker. 'But first I'll have to take care of something.'

...

In a fancy resort, five people were staying, waiting for any threat.

"I'm so bored, I want to do something fun!" The princess said, her blonde hair nearly blinding you.

"War isn't meant to be fun, but I don't blame you for not knowing, after all, a princess shouldn't be bothered with these things." She said while sipping her coffee while reading a book about the wonders of the sea. The orange glasses perfectly match her orange strands of hair between the forest of black hair.

Angered by Alberta's comment, the princess didn't let that slide. "Are you trying to pick a fight?"

"Like you would know anything about fighting, Elizabeth."

As the atmosphere was heating up, the door slammed open, but there wasn't anyone close to it, instead, a figure was slowly walking toward them, it looked injured.

The closer it got the clearer its figure became. Its green eyes were first to escape the darkness. But one didn't escape the darkness even as he approached the resort. His black hair was constantly fighting the rough wind.

"Max?" Elizabeth slowly said as she looked at her bleeding companion. But as she wanted to say something, she was passed by what first looked like the snow, but it was just her fellow comrade and princess.

Evelyn didn't waste a second, and jumped onto Max, probably breaking another one of his bones. Max looked up, her white hair falling on his face, and a big smile curling on her mouth.

"Max! What took you so long? And what was with that entrance."

He laughed, even though his muscles were screaming at him. 'Just wanted to look cool.'

Elizabeth pounded, clearly not liking Evelyn getting all the attention. "Eve, get off him already, if you continue death will finally catch the rat."

Evelyn looked confused at Elizabeth, then looking at Max's sweating face from trying to not give in to the pain, she finally realized and got off. "I'm so sorry! Please forgive me." She said while tears flowed out of her eyes.

Elizabeth pounded. And walked toward Max, her leather boots hitting the floor with pride. She then kneeled down and started using her drive to heal him.

His muscles relaxed upon the healing drive hitting them, this experience was indescribable. Like a perfectly warm river flowing through your body. From limb to limb, his wounds started healing without the dark liquid, it was like his cells were on overdrive.

"Hey Max, what's this weird black thing? And how did you even get to this condition?"

'Just some medicine I got from a merchant after I fought a humanoid?'

She stopped for a second, her eyes locked on his. But then continued.

"Ah, bad luck I guess. Not even a humanoid dragon can get rid of you, can't you just crawl back from where you came from?"

Max didn't take offense and instead laughed.

She buried her face deep into the ground and with a shy tone spoke.

"But no seriously, I'm glad you are alright."

Max's eyes widened. But then an evil grin appeared on his face. 'Oh is the ugly princess worrying about me?'

This comment infuriated Elizabeth, and to not let her reputation be stained she punched Max right in the face, leaving a red mark.

'Ouch, that hurt you know! But seriously there's no need to worry, I'm not going to die from just a humanoid dragon. I didn't die fighting that reaper, dying to a humanoid would hurt my status. And thanks, for healing me, I couldn't take it any longer.' He laughed.

After successfully being healed, he got up in a flash, he was finally free from the pain. 'Freedom tastes so sweet!'

But then his relieved expression changed to one of serious nature. His eyes pierced Alberta's

'Hey, we've got to talk.'

...

They stood at a table, opposite of each other, the others were at the door trying to hear anything, forgetting that each room was covered in a sound drive, not allowing any noise to escape it.

Alberta sighed, not liking the tension of the everlasting silence. "Let me guess, he broke our deal and snitched on me."

'Right on point. Now tell me, why did you do this? Did you want to kill me, or get rid of me for some time? Tell me Alberta, whats your relationship with the dragon that came after me? I already know the truth, so don't lie.'
