Chapter 55: The lost ship

The captain immediately handed the spyglass to Cyrus.

"Do you… do you know what that is??!"

Cyrus observed the area through the binoculars and stared at it silently for a few seconds.

"That's a lost ship... Change course a few degrees, we'll pass by it quietly! Be careful not to make any noise. We mustn't attract the attention of those on that ship."

"Those on that ship??! Is there anyone on it?" the captain asked in surprise.

"It's better not to be too curious about that, Captain. But let me tell you, if we engage with them, nothing good will come of it."

The captain hesitated for a moment, then signaled to the helmsman.

"A few degrees to the right!!!"

The ship slowly changed direction and approached the derelict ship.

[Wouldn't it be better to loot it? Maybe it has something useful?]

[Damn it! When did the captain become like a puppet?]

The sailors had many thoughts but said nothing, remaining on high alert. Julian signaled the sailors with his sword to be ready for anything.

[What could be there?]

Cyrus pushed through the line of sailors and stepped forward. He now stood beside Julian. A moment later, the captain joined them.

"Look closely, if we make a mistake, we'll end up like them."

He summoned a fireball in his hand and sent it into the air. The fireball shone like the sun, consuming the surrounding fog. Now they could clearly see the scratched and broken hull of the ship. After a few moments, the captain understood Cyrus's point. He pointed to the ship's helm and said, "There… someone is there."

Everyone turned towards it, their eyes wide with surprise.

[Is he… alive??!]

Cyrus turned to the sailors.

"He no longer belongs to the world outside the fog. This is his world now. Be careful because this fog is very deceptive." Cyrus continued, "If you don't want to share his fate, stay alert. Don't make any mistakes. Don't let fear consume you."

One of the sailors, trembling with fear, stammered, "H…he… he looked at me…"

[What?!]

The captain immediately went to the man and slapped him. "Get a grip, man! He's dead!!! How could a dead man look at you??!"

"T…they're looking at us… smiling… inviting us onto the deck… Captain… we have to go…" several other sailors said.

[Are they being lured?]

Cyrus stared at the deck of the other ship. An oppressive silence hung over it. Suddenly, a shadow caught his attention, and then he saw more shadows on the deck.

[They're coming!]

Cyrus turned to the sailors and ordered them all to go to the lower decks of the galleon. The captain was puzzled. He didn't understand why Cyrus wanted to do this, but when he saw one of the sailors aiming his gun at the other ship, ready to fire at any moment, he immediately executed the order.

"Get below!! No one is allowed to look outside!!"

Cyrus glanced at the crow's nest and gritted his teeth.

Blink!

He immediately appeared in the crow's nest, knocked out the lookout with one blow, and took his gun. Cyrus used Blink again. This time he appeared behind the helm. Due to the presence of the ghost ship and the foggy weather, the captain didn't notice Cyrus using Blink.

"Captain, go below with Julian. Leave this to me.

The captain nodded, went below, and closed the door behind him. Cyrus smirked.

"Alright, time to pay our respects to our friends!" And suddenly, he vanished into thin air like vapor.

On the other ship, A man in a long black coat and captain's hat stood behind the helm, staring at an unknown point, not even breathing.

Hoo!

Cyrus appeared right next to the man.

[Alright, show me what you've got!]

Cyrus walked away from the helm with slow steps, quietly descending the stairs and heading towards the main mast. Smirking, he spread a spell along the length of the ship with each step.

[Come out…]

Suddenly, several shadows oozed out from the old wooden planks of the ship and took shape in the air. Their eyes were red, and their aura was menacing.

"You're not whisperers." He raised his hand, and a white light formed in it. At the same time, he created a barrier around the ship that made it invisible from the outside.

"Since when has the realm of memories become a nest for demons??" And that light emitted a powerful force. All the demons disappeared in an instant. Cyrus's eyes glowed blue, and the air around him changed. He extended his hand towards the captain and said in a commanding tone, "Speak!"

The captain raised his head. He fell to his knees and said in a grating voice, "My lord,"

"Why did you summon this wretched spirit?"

"Where did these demons come from?"

"My lord, I don't know. When I was alive, I was moving north to escape the pirates when I got caught in a storm and was drawn into the fog."

"After that, I wandered for a long time. So long that I don't even remember how many years have passed since then. I remember nothing. But… you must leave here, my lord. This fog… it has a consciousness. It's like a patient hunter."

"When it sets its trap, it waits quietly for you to fall into it. You might escape it the first time, but you never really escape .... URGH!! NOOO!!! HUFF... HUFF … so, you're here Cyrus! Hahaha!!! Now that you've brought more prey with you, it was worth letting you go. God of memories, the forsaken god; you're not even truly the god of memories!!!"

Cyrus was taken aback. The ship's captain suddenly changed his tone; it was as if he had been possessed by an evil spirit. He laughed loudly, a sound that sent chills down anyone's spine. His laughter passed through Cyrus's barrier and echoed on the ship.

[My God!!! What's happening out there?]

Everyone trembled with fear and terror. They gripped their weapons tightly. Suddenly, one of the sailors shouted, "I can't take this madness anymore!!! Let's destroy that cursed ship!"

The other sailors loudly agreed with him. The captain tried to calm them down, but no one listened. Even when Julian drew his sword and aimed it at the crazed sailors, it was of no use.

[Have they gone mad?]

Suddenly, the groan of someone among the crazed sailors caught everyone's attention. The imprisoned sailor stood over a body that was evaporating, his eyes white. The sailor let out a terrifying scream and charged at the captain. Julian ignited the aura of his sword and decapitated the sailor. The sailor's head spun in the air and landed at the captain's feet. There was still a trace of unbridled rage in his eyes.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

"No!!! Wait!!!" But it was too late for anything.
