Chapter 4: Two Lights
From what she could tell, this couldn't even be called a battle, in every sense of the word this ambush was one sided massacre.
Aqua stretched her flaming wings as she focused on observing the conflict, her superior vision even allowing her to see everything as if she was standing next to the combatants even while being tens of miles up in the sky.
She crossed her legs as she contemplated her next move.
It has only been day since she arrived on this world and according to all of her metrics, it was not much better than her old one.
Gods still did what they wished without repercussion while mortals had to endure their whims.
Only mere hours after her entrance in this world multiple divine beings tried to establish influence over her as the former supreme deity of her world once did.
But compared to him, these gods seemed like insects, their petty attacks having no effect greater on her than a mere mosquito bite, annoying yes, dangerous no.
What intrigued her more than that was that all of the humans and elves under her had some kind of divine chain on them.
In her eyes their souls were not free, they were bound to their masters, some more fragile than others.
"Interesting, all of them have at least some degree of divine influence on them, Not even supreme deity bothered with blessing so many mortals"
While more minor gods did give out blessings they never gave too many, as they would not gain anything from such an act.
She closely analysed each of the attackers then the guarding soldiers.
She scratched her chin as she noticed 2 unique individuals, one in her vision instead of chains around her soul shined faintly and other looked like she had a proper blessing on her, her soul had no chains but instead it was enveloped by bright divine light she knew well.
But even if the light wasn't a chain around the soul, it still bound her to the will of the divine, but light was so faint, it was something that could easily be missed even by her eyes.
Perhaps it wasn't a blessing but divine heritage, and yet that made no sense to Aqua.
When observed Children of the Divine heritage burned brighter than the stars in the night sky, and yet this girl barely held any shine, It was intriguing.
Both of these individuals were completely unique to her, she has never seen such a powerful blessing and such faint divine light in one place.
"It would be a shame if they die now" Aqua stretched her arms and legs before preparing to teleport herself on the battlefield.
But just before she could she noticed individual with strong blessing burn brighter like a flare in the silent night, mere moments after she started transforming into a legendary monster, monster that not even children of the divine could hope to defeat, an Argus.
As she noticed this transformation she stopped mid charge closely observing the transformation, it was so impressive to become an Argus through a blessing that she decided to not interfere, if such an monster was in the play mere mortals had no chance of defeating her anymore.
And yet while she transformed two individuals slipped into the carriage she was guarding and just before Argus transformation was complete they dashed through the forest with unconscious elven girl.
She already knew where they were going, she already saw the encampment east in one of the major clearings in this forest.
Aqua was sure that these attackers didn't intend to kill her, because what other reason they would have to capture her alive.
"Perhaps I should protect her just in case" she smiled before stretching her hand and pointing at the elf before casting [Heart of Phoenix].
Girl's body glowed slightly before returning to normal only placing small mark in the shape of the wings on her palm.
With the spell on her she wouldn't be killed but instead would return after 3 hours of incubation inside an impenetrable phoenix egg, and if the spell was activated she would know that she needed to rush over and help.
Aqua crossed her arm while nodding her head, it was nice to be able to help sometimes, even if just slightly she wished someone would have helped her in the past.
She didn't get time to dwell on her past as she saw the Argus melt anyone who attacked her, most of the attackers didn't even get a chance to react.
But it was normal, Argus was after all a horrible monstrosity, and yet this one was quite tame for Argus standards, no Argus she knew would allow enemies to run away and yet this one did.
The massacre didn't even last seconds before it ended, what she saw was incredible, after Argus finished of its enemies and allowed some to escape it transformed back into the elven girl, modified yes but still a humanoid.
Aqua didn't have any doubts in her mind, if anything this individual was worthy of her attention.
She dispelled her flaming wings and more divine visage taking a form of a younger elf girl like she once was, her halo becoming a circlet with the ruby taking front central part of it, her flaming wings disappearing as they never existed before opening a portal to the surface.
Stepping into portal she found herself on the ground next to the former Argus, she gently placed her hand on her shoulder as to not startle her.
But it did not work as she took a defensive stance immediately.
It was clear the woman was afraid, she didn't even know who she was or where she came from.
Aqua raised both of her hands in surrender before speaking loudly.
"I am a friend I assure you there is no reason to be afraid of me." and yet she knew this won't be enough to convince the girl.
