Ch. 6
I began by drawing out each of the three concepts in the wood, taking only one at a time. Using [Crystallize], I transformed each of them into gems before inspecting them.

Ordo Vis Crystal
A gemstone containing the concept of order.
Terra Vis Crystal
A gemstone containing the concept of earth.
Arbor Vis Crystal
A gemstone containing the concept of trees.

Aha! So it was the concept of tree, not just plant!
…
Even just thinking that sounds crazy…
Moving on!
After clearing my head of the random thoughts, I then stripped one of the iron ingots of just metal before crystallizing it and checking the type with [Inspect], which called it metallum. I decided to try something before stripping the other ingot. I broke the crystal, releasing the essentia back into my hands. I then molded the metal essentia around the other ingot before attempting to merge the two, compacting it with my intent until it surprisingly worked. The metal essentia melted into the ingot, the iron visibly changing as a plume of dust flew from the bar and its color shifted from a dull gray to a gleaming silver.
Activating [Sense Concepts], I discovered that the new metal essentia had forced the earth out of the bar, and the impurities along with it. The bar had also grown a good amount in size from the extra pure metal. According to the System, that was enough to create a distinct item.

Trueiron Ingot
An ingot of iron that has been purified completely, leaving absolutely zero imperfections in the metal. This metal is stronger than steel and three times as flexible. Can be alloyed with pure coal to create truesteel.

I heard Allysa whistle in approval at this discovery.
“Nice job Lycara, trueiron is a difficult metal to acquire. The process usually requires a blacksmith of extreme skill or a powerful mage to remove the impurities from the iron. A bar that size should sell for around two gold, so any money issues are no longer issues.” She explained, walking over to see it better. I pass the bar to her, already focusing on the next item, the leather.
“Keep it, not like I can't make more.” I said, cutting the leather into multiple pieces to get all of the aspects. The new aspects were called bestia, fabrico, and victus respectfully. I recombined all the little bits of essentia together, and then shaped the leather around the foot of my prosthetic to protect it, infusing the intent of perseverance into the life essentia. I checked the item's description, but the only thing that changed was the word ‘padded’ being added to the name.
I chuckled a little at my unintentional rhyme, before focusing back on my crafting. I did the same thing with the fang as I did with the leather, breaking it apart to get the new concepts. They were auram for magic, and fames for hunger. This time, I decided to try something new. I had Allysa fetch two more bars of iron, setting down the crystals and quickly making a new bar of trueiron. I recombined all the essentia pieces from the fang, and then pressed it into the bar. At first, I was met with a bit of resistance, but slamming my will into the essentia broke through with little trouble.
The reaction was immediate. The essentia bound itself to the pure metal and mixed into it, swirling around and into itself until you never would have been able to tell that they had been separate. The bar of trueiron darkened rapidly, deepening to a red so dark it appeared black, with crimson showing through where it caught the sunlight. I sat there stunned for a moment before Allysa gasped, having inspected it, and I hurried to do the same.

Hungering Truesteel
Purified trueiron alloyed with carbon and the essences of hunger and magic, this metal is an incredible conductor of mana that rivals mythril. It must be saturated with mana before forging.

I gaped at the bar of metal I had just created, and then grinned. I needed a new weapon, as my old lance had been taken and probably sold when I was captured, and this would be perfect. I rushed to the supply closet for the second time that day, grabbing a block of wood and a spare fang, as well as the materials for another bar. Now in my pace for crafting, it was done in seconds, and a second bar of hungering truesteel joined the first. However, I wasn't going to make the handle out of metal, as that would lead to poor grip and numerous other problems, hence the wood. I did the same thing I did to the trueiron to the block of wood, imbuing the fang’s essentia into the oak cube.
Once more, I was not disappointed. This time the resistance was negligible, and I barely had to push to combine the two. The wood darkened, not as much as the metal but still changing to an almost black color. There was no red this time, the color closer to a dark grey, and the texture had changed to be similar to stone. This time I identified it almost immediately, not being surprised.

Petricite
A rare material made from a dangerous fusion of wood and bone, as well as the essences of hunger and magic, petricite is capable of consuming most magic and storing the resulting pure mana.

It was my turn to gasp at the petricite, as it was even more rare than trueiron. I was practically vibrating with excitement at this point, and that was with [Disassociation] being partly active in the background. I thought about deactivating it, but decided against it as I would get nothing done. I stored all the random vis crystals on the table, effectively clearing it and got to work on the metal. I stripped both of the bars, much to Allysa's dismay until I promised to make another for her, and began shaping them together. I molded them into a long rod about a meter and a half long and two inches thick, sharpening one end into a point and flaring the other out into a sleek guard, all while pulling the concept of hunger to the front.
Setting down the lance's body and working fast, I stripped the petricite and molded it into a handle, fusing it to the body just behind the guard. It was large enough to be comfortably held in either one or two hands, and was shielded but not blocked by the guard. I added a few swooping details to the main body of the lance, and then allowed it to solidify. What was left was a sleek black lance, the patterns softly glowing crimson and the handle a pale ashen color. Grinning maniacally at my creation, I used [Inspect].
