Chapter 19 - The Spare Tire of the CEO’s Woman (19)
“Hehe… Wanyan…” Mother Jiang sounded a little embarrassed, but she truly couldn’t help herself. “Our neighbor next door won several thousand yuan a few days ago.”
“Mom, that’s all a lie!” Jiang Wanyan spoke with a tone of frustration, genuinely not expecting her mother to have fallen into gambling. “I’m not giving you any more money. Quit gambling!”
After saying these words, Jiang Wanyan felt utterly drained.
“Wanyan, you can’t do this. If you don’t send me money, what will happen to your brother’s kids?” Her mother’s tone immediately turned desperate.
“Don’t they have jobs? Are they really relying on me to send money back?” Jiang Wanyan had been out of the house for many years, and she had never been this concerned about her own children. Now, asking her to cover her brother’s family’s living expenses; how could she possibly do that?
“You know their salaries aren’t much, only around 3,000 yuan a month. How could that compare to yours, right?” Mother Jiang grew more urgent. “You’re so rich, just give them a little.”
This statement only made Jiang Wanyan more upset.
“What do you mean, I’m so rich, I should just give them a little? Have you ever thought about how I feel?”
Sensing the change in her tone, Mother Jiang immediately softened her attitude. “But now you have so much money, how can you not help the family? Wanyan, no matter what, he’s your brother. You can’t just enjoy life by yourself.”
Enjoy life?
As soon as she heard those words, Jiang Wanyan’s mind flashed back to the years she had endured.
She immediately hung up the phone, and blocked her mother’s number.
If it were in the past, she might have sent some money back, but now she felt a sense of unease, as if she was barely able to protect herself. Unable to stop herself, she transferred several tens of thousands of yuan to her own account. Whenever she couldn’t see Shangguan Xuan, she felt a sense of dread.
She had even planned how to explain things to him.
But after waiting for several days, Shangguan Xuan still hadn’t returned.
It wasn’t until a week later that she finally received a document giving up custody of little Shangguan Xuan.
“What’s the meaning of this?” Although she didn’t care much for her son, everything she had gained in life was because of the child. When she was handed this document, Jiang Wanyan’s face immediately darkened.
“Isn’t this document clear enough?” Shangguan Xuan spoke in a cold tone. During this time, he had taken care of everything. As long as Jiang Wanyan signed the document, he wouldn’t have to deal with her anymore.
Clenching her fists, Jiang Wanyan gritted her teeth, cold sweat breaking out on her back. “Xuan’er is my child! How can you make me give up custody of him?”
“Heh…”
With a light laugh, Shangguan Xuan shifted to a more comfortable position and tossed another document toward her.
Jiang Wanyan’s body broke into cold sweat. “These… these funds…”
“If you sign the document, I’ll give you an additional 1 million.” Shangguan Xuan’s tone was nonchalant, his eyes indifferent. “You don’t need to worry about Xuan’er. Although you’ve never cared about him, I can assure you that I’ll treat him like my own son. However, he will no longer have any relationship with you. You’ve never raised him. Even if you have, you’ve already been compensated with over 5 million from me.”
“Shangguan Xuan, you…”
Her brow furrowed as she looked at this overly greedy woman. Shangguan Xuan was disgusted beyond belief. “Stop trying to negotiate with me. You should be thinking about this. You’re still young, just 25, and you have a bright future ahead of you. If you were smart, you’d take this money and leave.”
Tears almost fell, and Jiang Wanyan’s eyes were red, her gaze blurred with unshed tears.
But Shangguan Xuan had never had any feelings for her. His previous tolerance towards her had all come from the child.
Having stayed by his side for so long, Jiang Wanyan had at least seen this clearly. If she continued to hesitate, she might end up with nothing. Clenching her teeth, Jiang Wanyan signed her name on the first document and pressed her fingerprint.
“Can I still visit the child?” She hesitated as she handed the contract back to Shangguan Xuan.
“Of course, that’s no problem; if Xuan’er is willing to see you.” Shangguan Xuan smiled dismissively. “The house is yours too, don’t say I’ve wronged you.”
With the contract in hand, Shangguan Xuan, accompanied by his lawyer, left.
When the empty room was left with only Jiang Wanyan, the tears still hadn’t fallen.
She… had personally handed her child over to someone else, but when she touched her chest, Jiang Wanyan surprisingly felt no sadness at all…
Could it be that I really am a cold-blooded person?
Jiang Wanyan furrowed her brows, for the first time doubting herself.
***
Hai Ku smiled.
The progress bar for his mission had reached 90%. Jiang Wanyan had lost her love, seen her true family, abandoned her child; everything had been caused by her own actions.
If it weren’t for her vanity, signing the contract with Ouyang Ming and then violating it, if it weren’t for her using Ouyang Ming’s money to support her family, if it weren’t for her being irresponsible after giving birth to the child, if it weren’t for her making her child lose a childhood and using him as a tool for money…
Maybe everything would have turned out differently.
But unfortunately, there are no “maybes” in this world.
After receiving the house and the money, Jiang Wanyan lived carefree for a while. Her days were fulfilling, and she didn’t feel the loss of her child at all. After all, even when the child was around, she had never truly cared for him.
Until her family came knocking.
“Wanyan! You little brat, why haven’t you been answering my calls?” After a lot of effort, Mother Jiang had finally found where her daughter was living. She almost rushed in. “This house is really nice. Is it yours? Where’s your child?”
“Mom…” Jiang Wanyan’s lips curled downward. “What are you doing here?”
“You little girl, how can you talk like that? If it weren’t for that neighbor next door saying you moved in here, I wouldn’t have believed it. You’ve moved into such a nice place and you didn’t even invite us in. Do you even care about us anymore?” Over the years, Mother Jiang had been living off Jiang Wanyan’s money. She hadn’t worked for many years, and her body had become rounder.
