The Cold and Ruthless Supporting Male Lead

Chapter 14 - The Spare Tire of the CEO’s Woman (14)

When Hai Ku heard that the other supporting male was abroad, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Given Jiang Wanyan’s current state, not to mention going abroad, finding a place to live was already a difficult task.

After all, in the storyline, when Jiang Wanyan went abroad, it was Lin Zixiang who bought her ticket. Now that Lin Zixiang had no feelings for her at all, how could she possibly go abroad?

However, since Hai Ku’s current level was still too low, he felt it wasn’t necessary to confront the female lead head-on. The best course of action was to use other characters in the plot to deal with her.

The village roads had already been paved with concrete, so there was no trouble on the way back. Hai Ku drove straight up to the doorstep, then got out of the car.

As soon as he stepped out of the air-conditioned car, a wave of heat hit him, and Hai Ku felt a little uncomfortable.

The small courtyard gate was closed, but it seemed that it wasn’t locked. Hai Ku simply pushed the gate open and walked in.

“Dad, Mom, I’m back.”

In an instant, all three pairs of eyes turned toward him.

Hai Ku immediately felt a little embarrassed.

Jiang Wanyan’s face was pale, her expression pitiful, hoping that Hai Ku would notice her as he passed by.

However, Hai Ku walked straight toward Mother Lin without even giving Jiang Wanyan a glance, fearing that even a casual look might fall under her golden finger’s influence.

“Son, after such a long trip, are you tired? Should we eat first before going out?” Mother Lin was very happy. Her son had always been a workaholic and only showed up during holidays, which made her feel heartbroken.

“Mom, I still have to work tomorrow. Let’s head out quickly. Have you packed everything?” Hai Ku was touched that someone cared about him. Although Lin Zixiang now had a different soul, Hai Ku could still feel the familial bond.

It was a sad thing that such a happy family had been ruined by a woman who had nothing to do with them.

After entering the house and helping Father Lin take out the packed luggage, Hai Ku didn’t spare Jiang Wanyan even a glance. He simply carried the things and placed them in the trunk.

After making three trips, Jiang Wanyan realized that she had been completely ignored.

Her voice trembled as her lips had become completely dry, and her cheeks were sunburned, making her look unwell. “Zixiang…”

However, Hai Ku acted as if he hadn’t seen her. After moving everything, he still didn’t forget to remind Mother Lin, “Mom, remember to lock the door.”

“Ah, I know. We still need to take care of the chickens in the yard. I’ll ask Aunt Wang next door to help me for a while. We have a good relationship, so I’ll give her the key,” Mother Lin replied. When they went on vacation before, Mother Lin had also helped take care of their chickens and ducks, so it wasn’t a big deal to ask her to help again.

Hai Ku didn’t want to see the female lead at all, so after Father Lin and Mother Lin got into the car, he drove off without saying a word to Jiang Wanyan.

Jiang Wanyan sat dumbfounded on her suitcase, and after a long time, she finally realized that Hai Ku had already left.

Her heart was filled with frustration. Jiang Wanyan wanted to stand up, but she had been sitting under the sun all afternoon and was extremely dehydrated. As soon as she tried to stand, she stumbled.

Carefully holding her stomach, Jiang Wanyan didn’t dare to let her child suffer in any way.

Biting her lip, Jiang Wanyan walked carefully toward the yard’s faucet, drank a couple of mouthfuls of water, and only then did her mind start to clear up a little.

But now, Jiang Wanyan had completely understood that Lin Zixiang would never give her any kind of kindness. Perhaps he no longer had any feelings for her…

She felt a little uneasy inside, as if she had lost someone important.

And now, the only thing she could rely on was the child.

She had to find a place and settle down properly. Only when the child was safely born would everything have hope…

Born into a family that valued sons over daughters, Jiang Wanyan had already endured a lot over the years, so now, this little bit of endurance didn’t seem like much to her.

Every time she thought of the kindness Ouyang Ming had shown her, she felt that everything she was doing now was worth it, including the time she didn’t take the emergency contraceptive…

“Zixiang, are we really just leaving that woman in the yard like this? Is it really okay?” Although there was a feeling of relief after getting into the car, Mother Lin still felt a little soft-hearted halfway down the road.

“It’s fine,” Hai Ku shook his head. Even if he wanted to leave the female lead to starve to death there, her golden finger wouldn’t allow it. “Since she managed to get to our doorstep, she’ll have a way to get back. I was too soft-hearted before, so I suffered a lot.”

“That’s true,” Mother Lin sighed, “There are still some sweet potatoes in the yard, so she won’t starve to death. But it’s a shame, she was such a good girl, how did things end up like this?”

Hai Ku didn’t respond. He couldn’t tell Mother Lin that this world, along with its worldview and everything else, was created by the author. Whatever the author wanted this world to be, that’s what it would be.

Each phase has its own trends, and it couldn’t possibly be all the same. In this era of diversity, anything could be mixed in.

Although Hai Ku was in the middle of a mission, he still considered himself a bystander. He took on Lin Zixiang’s identity but didn’t completely immerse himself in it.

“Mom, what do you want to eat tonight? By the time we get home, it might be late, and the guest room still needs to be tidied up. How about we call Ziying and have her buy the ingredients?” Hai Ku smiled as he listened to Mother Lin vent her thoughts, then smoothly changed the topic.

He hoped that Lin Zixiang’s family would have no further interactions with Jiang Wanyan.

“Right, how could I forget that Ziying has already moved in?” Mother Lin clapped her hands and put Jiang Wanyan out of her mind. “Old man, what do you want to eat?”

“I’m fine with anything,” Father Lin, a man of few words, was the type who did more than he spoke, so he left the arrangements to Mother Lin.

In a good mood, Mother Lin called Ziying, asking her to buy more vegetables.

By the time they returned home, it was already after 6. After a whole day of driving, Hai Ku was a bit tired, but luckily, there was an elevator, which made it easier to move things.

Without mentioning Jiang Wanyan, Hai Ku just hoped that this person would disappear from the Lin family’s memory.

Without the female lead causing trouble, time passed quickly, and 5 years went by just like that.

However, the mission progress bar had remained stuck at 50%, leaving Hai Ku confused about what still required Lin Zixiang to resolve.

Logically, since he had completely avoided the white lotus female lead, Lin Zixiang’s role should have been less significant. So, where did this remaining 50% of the mission come from?

However, in the past few days, Hai Ku had started to feel uncomfortable all over, and this 5-year period gave him a bad premonition.

After all, those female leads who ran off while pregnant all returned after 5 years. Could it be that Jiang Wanyan had really given birth to the child?

Rubbing his brow, Hai Ku realized that after 5 years of comfort, he didn’t even know where to start.

With the mission progress still at 50%, it meant that Lin Zixiang still had to face 50% of the “misfortune” for him to save.

“Dad, Mom, I’m heading out.” Even though he now had over 20 million in assets, Hai Ku still maintained the image of Lin Zixiang as an ordinary white-collar worker, silently working at the same company for 5 years.

Although he had managed to become a department manager, Lin Zixiang was already 30 years old, and he had been at the company since graduation. This achievement wasn’t something particularly worth boasting about.

He had simply followed Lin Zixiang’s routine, but when he arrived at the company, he felt that something was off.

“What’s going on?” Seeing the employees’ gloomy expressions, he couldn’t help but ask.

“Manager, our company’s boss has changed, and we heard there will be layoffs.”

“When did this happen? How come I didn’t know?” Lin Zixiang was surprised. Everything had been fine just last week, so how had things changed so much after just one weekend?

“Manager Lin, the new boss wants to see you in the office.” The boss’s secretary hadn’t changed, but her expression seemed off as well.

As Lin Zixiang walked toward the elevator, the secretary quietly reminded him, “The new boss doesn’t seem very easy to get along with, Manager Lin. You should be careful.”

Hai Ku silently nodded.

He suddenly felt that something big was about to happen.

The boss’s office was located near the top floor. As Hai Ku took the elevator, he searched for any news about the boss changing, but couldn’t find anything related to the company suddenly changing bosses.

However, by the time he reached his destination, he had a vague guess.

He had heard the sound of a child’s voice from inside.

Calming his mind, Hai Ku knocked on the door. “Boss, I’m Lin Zixiang.”

The laughter inside quickly stopped, and a warm voice sounded, “Come in.”

The voice didn’t sound old, but Hai Ku couldn’t immediately recall who this person was.

However, now was not the time to think about that. Hai Ku pushed the door open and walked in. “Boss, you called for me?”

Once inside, Hai Ku was able to clearly see the man sitting at the desk. His appearance wasn’t particularly handsome, but with gold-rimmed glasses, he looked quite shrewd, though somewhat frail.

This wasn’t the supporting male from abroad.

With this conclusion, Hai Ku relaxed.

“Daddy, play with me~” A child’s innocent voice came from under the desk, and then a little head climbed onto the man’s lap.

“Xuan’er, be good. Go inside and play with Mom. Daddy has work to do,” the man’s face was full of tenderness as he put the child down and let him run to the lounge before turning to look at Hai Ku.

Hai Ku only needed to glance at the little face to confirm that this was Ouyang Ming’s child.

After all, it had been written that the child’s appearance was almost a miniature version of Ouyang Ming.

If the child wasn’t raised by the father, how could paternity be confirmed?

“Manager Lin, as you can see, I’m the current boss of this company. You’ve been dismissed. Go down to collect your salary, and you can leave afterward.” With narrowed eyes, the man gave Hai Ku an uncomfortable feeling.

Hai Ku nodded, showing no sign of attachment, and responded quickly, “Mm, okay.”
