The City's Strongest Son-in-law

Chapter 643: Mysterious Black Box

Seeing the small box, Qing Yin instinctively wanted to snatch it back, but he had never exposed his strength in front of Su Changfeng. If he acted now, Su Changfeng would surely notice.

"Big brother, why is the box with you?" Qing Yin forced a smile as he approached Su Changfeng.

"What's inside?" Su Changfeng asked directly.

"Hehe, it's just a small trinket, big brother, why not return it to its original owner?" Qing Yin replied.

"Tell me how to open it, and I'll give it back to you," Su Changfeng said.

"Big brother, what if I say I don't know how to open it either, would you believe me?" Qing Yin said awkwardly.

"What do you think?" Su Changfeng raised an eyebrow. He certainly wouldn't believe such nonsense. Did he really think Su Changfeng was a three-year-old child?

Qing Yin looked helpless, his eyes sincere as he said, "Big brother, I'll tell you the truth. I picked up this box from somewhere. I've never been able to open it, and I've kept it out of curiosity about what's inside."

"Oh." Su Changfeng nodded meaningfully, saying, "You said you picked it up, so consider it a gift from you to me."

Su Changfeng placed the box away after speaking.

A hint of murderous intent flashed in Qing Yin's eyes. Such an important box, and Su Changfeng took it from him!

"Big brother, this thing isn't worth much. You're so wealthy, what do you need it for? Just let me sell it for some money," Qing Yin suggested.

"You picked it up and consider it so important. It seems like whatever's inside the box is quite special. If you want it back, then come and snatch it," Su Changfeng replied calmly.

Qing Yin held back from acting, knowing that doing so would not only expose him but also that, in his current state, he probably couldn't defeat Su Changfeng.

Qing Yin adjusted his breathing and said, "Big brother, truth is, this box was given to me by my master before he passed away. I truly don't know what's inside, and I've never opened it once."

"Your master? Could he also be a flamboyant, deceitful Taoist?" Su Changfeng inquired. He was particularly sensitive to the identity of Taoists because, at the age of twelve, were it not for the nonsensical words of an old Taoist, the significant changes in the Ye Family wouldn't have occurred, leading to Su Changfeng's tragic childhood.

Su Changfeng had someone investigate the matter for a period, but no clues were found. Who that Taoist was and who he had teamed up with against the Ye Family remained a mystery.

Qing Yin shook his head incessantly and said, "My master truly has genuine talent and learning, unlike me."

A thought suddenly flashed through Su Changfeng's mind. Could Qing Yin's master have been the one who told Shangguan Feihong about the Emperor's Fate? But the likelihood of such a coincidence seemed low.

However, after thinking it through, there was indeed a possibility. After all, Qing Yin had no other reason to follow him, which was something Su Changfeng couldn't explain.

If Qing Yin's master really was the Taoist from back then, then Qing Yin's purpose in staying around him might be made clear.

The Ye Family had a potential enemy. Ji Hong had mentioned that the Taoist from back then was sent by an enemy, which meant that the Taoist had intentionally harmed Su Changfeng. And with Qing Yin's presence now, his purpose was likely to continue causing trouble for Su Changfeng.

When Qing Yin slowly realized that Su Changfeng's eyes were filled with killing intent, he couldn't help but retreat a few steps. Throughout this time, Qing Yin had maintained his hidden identity without any flaws, so he was puzzled as to why Su Changfeng's killing intent was so strong now.

Could he have unintentionally revealed something?

"Big brother, I'm starving. How about we grab a meal first?" Qing Yin tried to change the subject.

Suddenly, Su Changfeng extended his right hand. All the hardships he had endured were primarily due to the Taoist's actions from those years, so when Su Changfeng speculated about a connection between that Taoist and Qing Yin, he couldn't control his temper.

Firmly gripping Qing Yin's neck, it wasn't until Qing Yin's lips turned slightly purple that Su Changfeng said, "Who was your master, and who was he collaborating with back then?"

Qing Yin clutched Su Changfeng's hand, trying to break free, but in terms of strength, he was no match for Su Changfeng.

"Big... Big brother, I don't understand what you mean," Qing Yin said.

Biting his back teeth, Su Changfeng single-handedly lifted Qing Yin. In his extreme anger, Su Changfeng unleashed astonishing power, even causing passersby to be shocked by the scene, thinking he was absolutely mad to dare such an act outside the prison!

Qing Yin continued to struggle, and as his struggles lessened, his eyes seemed to turn white. Only then did Su Changfeng release his grip, throwing Qing Yin aside.

"I know you're following me for a certain purpose, and for a long time, I didn't expose you just to see what you were planning. Qing Yin, this is the first and the last time I'm warning you. If you dare to act recklessly, I won't hold back. Now that your master is gone, I don't care about past matters. Consider yourself warned!" Su Changfeng said, turning and walking away.

Qing Yin gasped for fresh air, as if saved from the gates of Hell. Watching Su Changfeng's figure slowly disappear, Qing Yin's eyes turned grim.

His original intention for following Su Changfeng was to one day kill him, but the vast disparity in power between them made killing Su Changfeng seem like a mere fantasy.

"Master, this guy is tough to handle. I fear I may not live up to your expectations," Qing Yin murmured.

Upon returning home, Su Changfeng took out the small box once more and observed it for a long time. However, there were no visible mechanical mechanisms to open it, as if it were sealed. The only apparent way to discover what was inside seemed to be forcefully opening it.

But doing so would likely damage whatever was inside the box, preventing Su Changfeng from trying it lightly.

Sitting on the edge of his bed dazed, Su Changfeng had spared Qing Yin, essentially giving him a way out. His ability to control his anger towards Qing Yin indicated his mastery over his temper.

If it weren't for the Taoist's crazy words, his life might not have taken its current path.

Although Su Changfeng's success today was comparable to the Ye Family from Beijing, it was built on the foundation of his tragic childhood. Given a choice, Su Changfeng would rather have had a happy childhood.

Touching the necklace around his neck, he recalled that it was because of his missing grandfather that the Ye Family underwent a massive transformation that year.
