Chapter 576: Brother is Telling the Truth
Watching the young woman nervously clench her fists, Cheng Shi chuckled and said, "There's no need to be so anxious. I'm not a bad person. The purpose of my visit is simply to tell you that from now on, you won't need to pay for your son's medical expenses. Someone will pay on your behalf so that you can focus on your child's treatment until he recovers."
The young woman looked up in disbelief. Could that person's words really be true? Perhaps this person truly could predict the future with such accuracy!
"You're... you're not joking, right? Is this for real?" the young woman asked Cheng Shi in disbelief.
"It's definitely not a joke. I've already discussed this with the hospital. They won't charge you for the treatment, and money will be transferred directly to the hospital's account every month," Cheng Shi explained.
The young woman suddenly slapped herself hard, fearing this was a dream and equally worried it was all false.
But when the slap resonated and pain shot through her cheek, she knew it was all real.
"Mom, what are you doing? Why are you hitting yourself?" At that moment, the little boy who had met Su Changfeng in the garden earlier woke up and saw what was happening, so he asked his mother.
The young woman, filled with excitement, rushed to the bedside, gently holding the boy's hand, and tearfully said, "Child, you're saved. Just now, an uncle offered to pay for your treatment, and you can keep living."
The boy, still drowsy from being awoken, listened to his mother's words, thinking it seemed even more unreal. Although he was still young, he was very sensible and knew how much it would cost to cure his illness. He couldn't believe any uncle would willingly pay for his treatment.
"Mom, you must be really tired. There's no one else here," the boy said with a hint of concern.
The young woman looked around and saw that Cheng Shi was no longer in the room.
She quickly stood up, walked swiftly to the corridor outside the ward, but Cheng Shi was nowhere to be found; the young woman was dumbfounded.
Could it really have all been an illusion just now?
Just then, a young nurse entered the room to check the boy's health condition.
The young woman grabbed the young nurse's hand and asked, "Nurse, I'm sorry, but may I ask if you saw a tall and thin man in his 30s? He just said he'd pay for my son's treatment. This isn't a dream, right?"
If this matter was false, her child would soon pass away, and the hope ignited in her heart would turn into despair, a blow she couldn't bear. So when she asked the nurse, she already had the answer she hoped for in her heart.
Although it hadn't been long since the event occurred, it had already spread among the medical staff, especially within the hospital's WeChat working group, where discussions were extremely heated. The young nurse smiled and replied, "You're not dreaming. It's all true. Even our director has been informed about it."
The young woman, overwhelmed with joy, began to weep, while the little boy lying there was filled with disbelief, and it took him a long time to speak: "The brother in the wheelchair we saw in the garden, his fortune-telling was amazing; he actually predicted it."
The young nurse smiled upon hearing this. That person wasn't a fortune teller and probably didn't know anything about fortune-telling; it was likely all pre-arranged by that person.
When that person was just admitted to the hospital, it alarmed all the top-level people of the hospital, and almost all the hospital's experts and professors had examined that person. From this perspective, that person was surely no ordinary figure. Paying for the child's treatment would be just a small matter in his eyes.
"I do know who you're talking about, but he's not a fortune teller. As for the money, it was probably that person who paid on your behalf," the young nurse said to the boy.
Both the young woman and the boy were a bit stunned; it was that brother who paid for his treatment!
"When that person was hospitalized not long ago, all of our hospital's leadership visited him, so his identity is definitely not ordinary. You all are really lucky to have met him," the young nurse continued.
"Nurse, can you tell me which ward that person is in?" the young woman asked excitedly. If this was true, she had to thank him in person since it was Su Changfeng who gave her child a chance to live. Even if it meant kneeling before him, she wouldn't hesitate at all.
"It seems that person was discharged today, but considering his current condition, the hospital would have been the best place for his recovery. However, I don't know why someone as rich as him would think so, maybe he's not used to the hospital environment and went home to find a private doctor," the young nurse said.
The young woman became anxious; she hadn't had the chance to thank Su Changfeng yet.
The young nurse, aware of the thoughts in the young woman's mind, said, "To someone as wealthy as him, he probably wouldn't pay much attention to such a small matter. I suggest you focus on taking good care of your child. Perhaps one day you'll meet him again."
Su Changfeng left the hospital because he wasn't comfortable with the hospital's environment. The scent of disinfectant and pungent medicine made him feel more uneasy the longer he rested. Since he just needed a few more days of rest anyway, resting at home would suffice.
"You're living in a place like this now?" Yue Qingshan said, looking at Su Changfeng's rented apartment, speechless. Although he couldn't live in that villa halfway up the mountain, there was no need to stay in such a place. Nonetheless, he was from the young master of the Ye Family from Beijing.
"What's wrong with my place? It has water and electricity, much better than under the bridge, right?" Su Changfeng laughed.
"Comparing yourself to a homeless person is really amusing," Yue Qingshan couldn't understand the way Su Changfeng thought. Given his current status, why would he compare himself to someone homeless?
"All people are born equal. Isn't everyone flesh and blood? Why can't we make comparisons?" Su Changfeng replied.
"Can the positions of the two of you be considered the same? Your paradox is completely unreasonable," Yue Qingshan said, pushing Su Changfeng into the house and then closing the door.
But what they didn't know was that someone was watching them enter the house through the peephole from the opposite door.
It was Sunday, and Wang Feifei and Chen Xueqi were both resting at home. Having not seen Su Changfeng for a while, Wang Feifei was very attentive to any commotion involving him, so when she heard the door opening, she quietly went to peek behind the door. But who would have thought, this glance left Wang Feifei amazed.
